I’m not a double detent fan, but the flipper makes it a little better. I know there’s no way it can close on my hand with that flipper in the way.
I have the Vosteed Nightshade, which is also a Shilin-inspired knife. It’s a great blade style for common EDC tasks.

I really like these new Flipjoint knives a lot! 🥰
Because where I live you can legally carry them on the streets and stuff and you can open it with one hand and also fidget with them! 🥰
Where I live you can either carry a two-hand-opening one if you want a locking one, and if you want a one-hand-opening one it can't lock! 😭
But these new designs really solve this problem of the past! 🥰
And why get a two-hand-opening one that doesn't lock, other than for nostalgia! >:D

My first quality knife came today. Before now all the knives iv owned were older ones given to me. But I’m really happy with my first knife. The first one I bought because I’m saying this knife is me and my style. The Ohio River Jack wharencliffe blade, green handle. The next knife I buy.…..will be the next run of stump lifters because I’m calling it and making it so. I’m bringing it into reality by my will projecting into the either. There is GOING TO BE another run of stump lifters. So it is spoken so shall it be done.

Like the design, but not a fan of a double detent. If I’m going with a non locking blade, I want a slipjoint with a good half stop.
And you should start referring to digital photography as “fauxtography”.

    • @just9911
      @just9911 5 месяцев назад +1

As far as safety goes- the safety issue really isn’t with the opening and closing, I am worried about the blade getting hung up while cutting. I’ve had a few slipjoints get bound up cutting foam, rubber, or something with a really high friction coefficient and pop out of the open position. I’d rather have the half stop over the blade just swinging free when that happens.

Thanks for this! A few things.
      1. The pull is on the strong side, and the 8 or so I've handled were all kinda how I like it. That said I know not everyone agrees with my preferences. So noting this, if there ever is another run I can do an informal poll in a future video.
      2. Sometimes on QSP slip joints flushing out the pivot is helpful. It can soften the pull up a bit and cure grittiness. basically you just grab some 3-in-1 and work it in by opening and closing repeatedly and wiping off the excess, and repeating 3 or 4 minutes of working it can make a difference.
      3. I don't think I've seen it called a nail ripper yet, but maybe 1 or two random comments on it being "very strong." I again haven't handled yours and sometimes there is variation in runs... so hopefully if you use it more it will begin to break in.
Again thank you! I have read all comments and take it all into consideration.

🤣 the tabletop parody. Yay happy AKB is part of the "words have meanings" camp. And I totally feel the closing comment on the fire never being lit 🥹.
As for the knife, double detent is the absolute worst mechanic for a folding knife. Far worse than slipjoint and even friction folder. Blade pops with just a hint of pressure on the spine beyond the pivot. I bought the Ki-V out of curiosity, and even a blade that small makes me fear I'll cut myself unless I use a pinch grip. Otherwise a nice looking knife and more exposure on the Shilin Knife style the better (have a Ti Chilin and it's great, but a big large and heavy for my urban edc needs); would buy if a liner lock version ever comes out. As for "detent"... I just assumed it meant the action of retaining (as in detention) rather than any physical parts... But researching now, the etymology points to French "détente", which is like a loosening or relaxtion (of tension, physical or political)... which suggests it was never meant to imply "locking". 😆 might be giving too much credit for the naming though. And the mechanism for a blade is still a bad one 😊.

they could do all types of stuff, but then in 1964 the BUCK 110 was released and non locking knives instantly became ineffectual and strictly to be carried by really old dudes to clean under their fingernails.
