I love so many things about traditional knives. I like that knives were usually tailored to a trade. Love discovering old knives and like you, I wish they could tell their tales. Great video!
Well said! Thanks RJ 🫡
I appreciate your sentiments. Slippy. These are the very reasons I so enjoy this hobby. The passion swells when I make these considerations. Thanks for the excellent video, top notch. 🏆
Right on, thanks John 🙏🏼 it's definitely a side to the hobby I am.most passionate about, 🫡
Great summary of the attributes and attractions of this hobby of ours. And ... there is just nothing like finding that old, rare, new stock or restorable gem in a thrift store, estate sale, or antique/hardware/bait.n.tackle shop! Thanks Slippy, have a great weekend.
Glad you enjoyed it, have a good one Byron 🫡
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Didn’t want it to end. I love that olive drab color. Well, I guess I’ll watch it again!! Good day to all.
Thank you soo much Mike 🙏🏼🫡
I truly appreciate your videos. Thank you very much
You are very welcome
Great knives! Love my traditional knives! I love all the cover's and blade shapes! Always had a great time with the different patterns! Great video!!!!
You and me both! Thanks Mike really appreciate it
Awesome video and you hit on all the reasons I love traditional knives! Great collection also!
Thanks for watching!
Great video, you definitely touched on some of the reasons I started getting into traditionals recently. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Thanks Jake, appreciate you watching 🙏🏼🫡
Great video Slippy totally agree with you.
Also, I think using a traditional slipjoint knife (or modern traditional) gives you an appreciation for knife safety because you have to be a little more aware of how you’re using it.
Soo many reasons I love them, I could go on for hours 😂
There is definitely more character and a story to tell with a Traditional knife. They were & are simple tools to get a job done. Great 👍 Video SlipJoint. 👏
Thanks for watching Steven 🫡
Excellent video! 👍 Couldn't agree more! 💯 Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!!! ✌
Thank you soo much 🙏🏼
Those are all great points for why you should own a traditional pattern knife and I agree with you, buddy! Thanks very much for sharing and Cheers!
Thanks for watching Toad 🫡
A very excellent video buddy! Wonderful knives as well; excellent reasons. I love that Remington!
You and me both!
Great video. Thanks for a bit of a collection walk through.
Glad you enjoyed it
This is a great video, really nice to watch and listen to👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Beautiful stuff there on the table.
The pragmatist in me says all you truly need is a two or three layered Victorinox, but these traditionals are so much fun to collect, handle and just look at. 🤘🏻
Thanks for watching Ron 🙏🏼🫡
very nice and well put.
Thank you kindly!
You aren't wrong Slippy. I'm finding myself collecting more traditional pocket knives vs moderns lately. I owe it to the beautiful pieces from GEC. Only have 1 GEC but I have a few rough ryders and case knives now. Thanks for the video.
Awesome to hear brother 🙏🏼 we need more traditional collectors
These slip joints are so cool. Very nice video and collection
Glad you like them!
Fantastic collection Matt! 😮
Aren't you just a fantastic Gent 🙏🏼🫡
Great video Slippy! I am sold! LoL! Very good points here. That Remington is almost 100 years old and it still looks and works great! Thought that would have been your most expensive knife in this showing . I really like Buck hollow grind and extra spring on there stockmans, so the blades dont rub. I will have to pick one up for sure!
I got that Remington for an absolute steal! $40 if I remember 🔥 thanks for watching
Excellent video brother, I have more than a couple of Slipjoints and I love them all. I’ve only just found your channel thanks to my friend Singing Toad, I look forward seeing more videos 🐸😎🇬🇧.
Welcome aboard! 🙏🏼🫡
A lot of valid points Matt.
Thanks Jeroen 🙏🏼
Brilliant video, mate. Brilliant knives. 👊 🫡
Glad you enjoyed
I'm happy to see so many have interest in Traditional Pocket Knives . 👍 good video .
Thanks for watching!
👍
I still have the IXL Barlow knife my parents gave me as a present @ 55 years ago. One of most treasured possessions. I'm not a collector but find the subject interesting.
Amazing that's soo cool
I agree completely!!! I live traditional knives!!! My fav
Benjamin knows the score 🙏🏼🫡
Great video Slippy. I need to expand my collection...
You should! Traditional all the way
All good stuff!
Thank you
Nice collection Slippy. So true regarding the personality and character of traditionals compared to modern pocket knives. No one is going to be discussing the beauty of G10 scales in a 100 years.
The history/heritage factor is so cool along with the natural materials and how innovative makers were before mass production machining.
I’m searching for a traditional I can use on a daily basis and will hopefully become a family heirloom. Lionsteel Barlow is where I’m heading at the moment. Beautiful knife, a few handle material options and I’m partly Italian so it would be a bit of a shout out to my Grandparents on one side.
That's a great choice Michael! Let me know what you get 🙏🏼
@@SlipjointSawyer Will do. Hopefully I can get one in ebony wood 😍
Beautiful knives sir! And a very nice collection! Great video. Thank you sir.!
Thanks KJ
@@SlipjointSawyer 👍🏻👍🏻🤠🤠
Nice video, thank you. I think in the UK something obviously traditional is the sensible choice for a quiet life, because being old fashioned and a little eccentric is seen as rather endearing if anything. Whilst my interest has mostly been in Sheffield knives, the sheer variety in all those American patterns makes it a fascinating area to explore for those cursed with the collecting gene.
Thanks for sharing!
I love traditional knives, there are so many different types. I am not really in to the modern knives.
Thanks for the video and have a good one.
Thanks for watching!
I love it
Thank you
My favorite kind of knives…😊
Nothing better imo
When it comes down to it I get more of a charge out of getting a new Traditional or Modern/traditional. There's no rhyme or reason to my purchases beyond potential usage and Traditionals are great for this. I've stopped buying RRs because I got sick of receiving lemons but the Marbles and Queen knives are fine. A nice variety on display here, good stuff!
I feel you brother, traditional is where my heart is 🙏🏼 really appreciate the support 🫡
Absolutely great video,, I love Rough Ryder knives, as you say, you can start a collection, for a reasonable amount of money,,
I've only ever bought 2 Case knives, the first took me a lot of work, to make it acceptable, and the second one, I sent straight back to HH for a refund, it was rubbish,, I'll never order another Case,, but, RR, on the other hand, are superb for the price point,, 😊
Thanks for watching 🫡
I agree you, Traditional knives definitely have more character, style, and history than modern ones ( although in years to come the same thing will no doubt be said of them lol ).
Thanks for watching Z 🙏🏼🫡
I think it's good to own 1, a Victorinox, and some sort of Knifeless version of Multitool, just for the simple fact if knife laws change. I like your points about using the knife when we were younger, that nostalgia feeling.
Thanks for watching
I love that traditional knives are built to look beautiful and are also functional. I love modern knives but I don’t sit and admire black g10 lol
You nailed it right on the head Joe 🫡
Sublime collection de Barlow
Thanks
The number one reason is because it makes you and TK feel cuddly.
Damn I knew I forgot something 😂🫡
Slippy wow impressive collection but yes I concur I prefure slip joints for nostalgia and legal carry its what I carve with no fancy locks or tools used in my carving 👍🦊🐾🇮🇹
Thanks John 🫡
@@SlipjointSawyer I prefure old fashion way of doing things old tools are best I has quite a few I still use including a syth grass cutter tools was made to last now they break you has to toss it buy new 👍🦊🐾
@@SlipjointSawyer I call today's society a tosser society as stuff always busts can't repair it so you toss it I normally make things to do job rather than be ripped off 👍🦊🐾
What was the blue one 4th from the top on the left?! You danced around it! Was hoping you’d grab it. Cool vid!
Camillus USA made boy scout knife 👌🏼 review on my channel 🙏🏼
@@SlipjointSawyer many thanks! I’ll check it out!
I totally live slip joints.i carry a 100 year old barlow by George wostenholm.its a treasure
Awesome!!
The value and quality hugely outshines the cost
If does indeed
This was great! But I think I could whittle it down to two reasons:
Reason #1: Because traditional knives are awesome.
Reason #2: Refer to Reason #1
😆
I mean you're not wrong David 😂
Hi! Great video! Where do you find these amazing old knives? --Michael
Etsy over here in the UK 🫡
@@SlipjointSawyer Ok. I’ll keep an eye out on there! I never thought of that.
You didn't show the Texas Toothpick or what looks like a Barlow with a stag handle.
I think the Stockman pattern is the most versatile. A Victorinox Huntsman is my EDC -- so many useful tools.
Thank for watching 🫡 I appreciate it
My age 71yr old I have had my old single blade knife for about 60ys I use it every day
That's amazing! I love a knife with history, I carry an old timer 8ot USA made
Does your Buck stockmans sheepfoot blade require less pull than the other blades on it ?
Maybe a little but not a huge amount
@@SlipjointSawyer sorry for all the questions but how would you say your Buck stockman blades go from requiring the most pull to the least
@@konnorwerth4906 no need to apologise 😊 Clip, Spey, Sheepsfoot
As a general rule I always have a slip joint in my pocket regardless of what else I'm carrying. 😊
Good man! Slipjoints are king
No GECs or Arthur Wrights?
Wanted to make it more inclusive for everyone 🫡🙏🏼
@@SlipjointSawyerGEC I understand, but Arthur Wright's aren't expensive and available.
My dad and grandpa carry these types of knives and I’m not a big fan of having multiple blades I’d rather have a Swiss Army knife for more versatile are then any old knives that have can opener bottle opener instead of 4 blades
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
'Promo SM'
those all need to be binned mate
much too dangerous
😂
where are the SAK's ? SAK's aren't traditional ? I'm tellin Mum and no more P.G.Tips for you.
😂 SAKs are a different kind of traditional
I have the same Case sowbelly in green! New subscribers here. Great collection. I was thinking about starting a knife channel myself. Cheers
Awesome stuff Caleb, if you're thinking of starting a channel you should join the Discord! Link is in the description
