Gangrel and Luna were both cool af. They worked out at a shithole gym near Tampa that i also worked out at my senior year of HS (1999). I stayed marking out for them after that 😅

This was the first WWE PPV being broadcast on my country's local TV, even if it didn't happen by the date of the event , it was a very exciting thing in '99 for me who was the only WWE kid at school. An idea for the Road Dogg/ Bret Hart "ladies and gentlemen" bit..... at the very beginning of "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night," the main character, Alucard, runs ahead and bumps into Death who then takes away all of Alucard's powerful gear. Road Dogg could be Alucard and Death could be Bret saying, "Shut Up!" Love the Reliving The War series! Thank you!
13 chair shots. Any other wrestler would have been fired for that. Its an unpopular view but i always thought Rock had to learn to talk because he wasn't a good wrestler. His petulance was in evidence here

Im sure if you were in his shoes you would be a little pissed about that. Especially the last two to the back of Mick’s head. There is a reason shots to the back of the head are illegal in MMA. A kid at the Minnesota state fair was killed after being hit in the back of the head. He fell on the ground, had a seizure and died.
@@musc1esmanThey are just trying to scare people about concussions. We have become a pussified society now. They want to label everything a concussion now in an attempt to kill sports.
Shane training Vince was a memorable part of my childhood
"I HATE AUSTIN!! I HATE AUSTIN!!" - Vince McMahon
"I HATE AUSTIN I HATE AUSTIN I HATE AUSTIN"
@@megabargerj2979 funniest thing is that Vince shoot loves Austin.
@@NexusFantismoI’d figure he only saved them from their crippling fall.
I have so been looking forward to this. This was the ppv that solidified my obsession with wrestling. Off the back of this, I read mick foleys first book (the first book i ever read outside of school and parents). I used that as a guide to track down every show he ever appeared on. Which in turn, led to me discovering other favourites and collecting ecw, wcw, iwa, wwf, njpw tape available. Thanks Mick!
And thanks for this series
Thanksgiving is on hold in Canada until Horsemen Business concludes.
Little note: Steve Blackman was also one of Jerry Lawlers 3 picks to win the rumble! Cole and Lawler reference it a few times on comms during the rumble. Thought you might have made comment on it hehe. Regardless, Lawler could see Blackman’s class.
The fallout from this Rumble on the Raw is top-notch. Austin's promo is *fire*.
Was that the RAW where Austin interrupted every match and stunned everyone in a fit of rage?
Chairs shots like these get my competitive juices flowing, brother.
The famous I Quit match and a Royal Rumble to remember. Plus I know what's next at Wrestlemania XV... Still a decent undercard and a Strong 2 Main Events.
The Rumble match was not strong
@@mizer9510 The WWF was focused on Austin and Vince. Not only that but they were planting seeds for Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Rock I at Wrestlemania XV.
@@michaelaburns734So you just proved my point
I absolutely loved the Rock's heel work leading up to and during this event. Also the story of Vince and Austin was so well played out here. The ending to the rumble was great, such a cool swerve.
It was so well done
This was the only PPV I owned on VHS. Got it from a yard sale many years later. Oh, so good.
Awesome😎😎😎😎😎
Everyone get ready to say goodbye to the DX Army cause this is the last night they were a full unit.
Sad but true
Don't they reform around HHH at the end of the year?
@@troywright359 yes but without Chyna
Gangrel and Luna were both cool af. They worked out at a shithole gym near Tampa that i also worked out at my senior year of HS (1999). I stayed marking out for them after that 😅
Whenever Rock took over the commentary...
*chefs kisses*
Just rewatched the 1999 Royal Rumble before this, great watch!
No "SHUT UP!" for Road Dogg?!
as far as Billy Gunn's "WPMC" promo goes-- the closest thing i could find on a quick search was that 'WPEC' stands for 'WorkPlace Eye Candy', which would at least line up with the Mooning of Shamrock's "sister" (the wrestling ring IS Billy's "workplace" after all)...maybe he just used a wrong letter? or maybe its some Variation on the acronym (Man candy?)

@@skyguy5587 you dont mean...Mega-Ultra Chicken...? shh!! He Is Legend...!
Loved the intro information cards! Funny stuff. … “previously a fish”
the infographics before the entrance were magical

"you think you know him" made me laugh like an idiot for 3 minutes
Billy Gunn was talking about Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications when he mentioned WPMC
I especially love The Fink's Royal Rumble intro this year as Lawler is burying him throughout on commentary, its hilarious 😂 Also look at the crowd when Golga is coming to the ring 😂
This is the first ever PPV I got to watch live on TV. 13 year old me thought the I Quit match was cool at the time but it’s actually hard to watch today, they definitely took it too far.
Why? It's perfectly fine.
Sources say that Luna was told by McMahon, Russo & others to take it easy on Sable to not be to rough on her, or "Else"
The no chance remix you did in the beginning of the video was cool af, really well done.
His intros for the PPV be 🔥 lit
When I was visiting my brother in Hawaii this was the first pay-per-view of WWE that I ever saw. The I quit match between the rock and mankind is the most controversial of them . The beyond the mat video explains in somewhat in details about this match.
It's not controversial
Bios is the greatest channel on RUclips hands down. Brings back so much memories with a dash of sense of humor. Thanks bro keep em coming
Definitely one of the most memorable PPVs in more ways than one from the I quit match to the match long interactions between Austin and Vince lol
Great video WB! I am also a fan of this show and we share many of the same sentiments. The entrant cards for the Rumble were also excellent! I hope they come back for 2000.
This was absolute peak WWE. I think 99 was truly their greatest year.
2000 was the best year imo. 1999 was pretty good but 2000 blows it out of the water, in terms of wrestling and memorable moments and feuds.
@@onesaucynougat7471 yeah I get you. And honestly everything March of 97 onwards was gold. I just think The Rock had his absolute best run on the mic in 99 as both a heel and baby.
@@nbarealtalker tbh from 1999-2001 was the rocks peak.
Between this ppv and the next a RAW took place in Skydome Toronto Canada and it was one of most epic nights of a lot of peoples lives. Cant wait for your video on it. I have a ton of anecdotal stories from that event that are not on camera
Im not sure why but Royal Rumbles were my favourite PPV's to watch
Because rumbles are super chaotic and fun to watch, it’s not hard to see why you enjoy it. Counting down and seeing who comes out next is always fun.
Those 'Stats & Facts' this year for the rumble were making me giggle every time.
I like that Jerry Lawler was a cheerleader for The Corporation
This was the first WWE PPV being broadcast on my country's local TV, even if it didn't happen by the date of the event , it was a very exciting thing in '99 for me who was the only WWE kid at school.
I also remember how shocking was having Mankind getting chair headshots until he "died", some years later i saw what happened in the doccumentary when the lovely Noelle got traumatized for life lmao
Great event, good memories, thanks WB team for this.
He didn't die
Luna Vachon deserved better
I concur
I'm excited; I had front row seats on the floor for the Raw after the 99 Rumble. I hope I see me on the vid!
A lot happening at this Rimble. Props on the custom facts on the entrants too! Godfather OnlyFans enthusiast had me rollin
His petulance was in evidence here
Another PPV I was excited to see get covered. I was only 13 years old when me and my brother saw this live in Anaheim. So many fond memories. I’m a huge Foley mark so that was definitely hard to watch. I remember making a sign that said “Who will win the 30 man Royal Rumble” with man scratched out and “Person” written above it. I thought this was so clever.
This is one of the peak Attitude era PPVs in my opinion. Crazy how we had the Finger Poke of Doom competing with this.
Nah, there were much better ones
@@mizer9510 i agree but can u stop replying to every comment like a smart ass douche
@@mizer9510yeah, this PPV is only remembered for the main event and the rumble which isn’t even a top 10 rumble. The one next year was way better imo with a better world title match and a way better rumble match too.
I remember watching the PPV with my family as a young kid and my mom was horrified at the I Quit match. After rewatching it a year back, can't say I don't share her sentiment.
The story writing for attitude era was second to none
I’ve been watching this series from the start and I love some of these little changes like the new background music for the Rock vs mankind match. Love these tiny details
The 1-2-3 Kid was in the 1996 Royal Rumble…
Wasn't he in the 94 one or was that the one where he won the tag belts with Holly? 🤔
The wrestler cards you put together for each entrant 😂😂😂 *chef’s kiss*
This is my favorite PPV from 1999.
As a lot of us are about to start the work week tomorrow it reminds me that some days we are the chair and some days we are Mankind. Have a nice day.
