Thanks for the tips, I just installed mine today with the help of your video! I'd like to add, you guys can save yourself A LOT OF TIME and frustration when removing these stock emblem letters by prying behind the letters with a flat trim tool, or putty knife, just enough to fit a flat blade of a Dremel Multi-Max or similar tool to easily cut the plastic tabs holding the letters in the grill. After struggling about 20+ minutes trying to "carefully" remove the G (and still breaking one of the tabs on the G and on the grill!) I got the idea to use the Dremel and it took me about 1 minute to get the other 2 letters off :)
Thanks for sharing this! I just bought a new 2021 Sierra Elevation 1500 X31 with the 3.0L diesel a few weeks ago that came with the black GMC emblems, and as part of the purchase agreement, I had them swapped out with the traditional red. Had I known about this I would have pushed for the illuminated one. Looks like upgrade for me is in order.
Great one. Thanks. Might show yourself doing it. I’m sure you were trying to shorten the video but it’d be nice to see one of the brackets being removed.
Awesome video thank you. Wonder what the dealer is charging to install these. I just brought home my '22 Sierra SLT. Thinking of picking up the red emblem as my truck is metallic silver.
I’m just finishing the install on my 2023 Elevation. With the wiring you did, does the emblem light with the parking lights or just with the headlights?
The 22+ refresh trim has a subassembly for the emblem. You can remove it by removing 5 torx screws (T20) with about a 1' extension from reaching in an taking the screws out. That releases the entire block and then you can remove the letters from the block once it's out. MUCH simpler. Anyone know why the passenger side shutters have one less (the very top one) than the drivers side? Thought I was missing one (also the 3.0) but it appears this truck doesn't have it either (6:23). BTW, you were brave snapping the new emblem down before knowing you had all the wiring right (which is why I came here), especially after going through the nightmare of getting the old ones out.
Have the red one on my 21Yukon. But the led stopped working :( as it’s most common issue. I would apply water resistance tape on the connector. Also don’t apply direct water pressure to the emblem.
@@FlippinCustomized What was the verdict on this? Does the emblem only light up with the headlights turned on or does the daytime running lights allow the emblem to come on?
I have a 2023 Yukon SLT and it has a camera in that same area. It does appear different from this. Like one person mentioned it looks like it is one assembly. Any suggestions on this?
I’d like to incorporate this into my 2016 Denali HD, I’m curious if the dimensions of the letters are the same between the two models or similar enough to make it work with some slight modification. If you get a second, could you take a few measurements of your illuminated emblem? Just the over all length from G to C as well as top to bottom? Thank you, looks great!
Just picked up a 2020 gmc sierra 1500 elevation. I've been seeing that one of the kits only work with multipro tailgates do you know if this is true? I just have the regular one.
hey do you guys know what the size difference between that truck emblem and a 01 GMC emblem on a sierra is and is the headlight plugs the same or not? I have the 01 sierra and I would love to get the lighted emblem but I don't want to do it if i can't even plug it or it doesn't even fit the space
I wonder if I can use this on a 2016 Sierra All Terrain Edit: what I mean is I’m curious if the dimensions are the same. Can’t seem to find dimensions on any GM website
I have a 2021 sierra. I am on my 2nd illuminated emblem (black illuminated emblem). Both have lasted less than 6 months and continue to somehow get water in them. Ordered and installed through dealer both times. Both times part was on back order. A bulletin was put out about these also shorting headlights out. It was a total waste of money and time for me. Anyone else having this issue?

So did the m and c also break or ?
Did the tabs also break in the m and c?
@@VasquezBaltazarFam90 I cut the tabs in the M and C with the dremel blade. So much easier than trying to pry the letters off.
Thank you bro

Not sure but with this video you could do it yourself

Honestly can’t remember

Had owners with me 😂
Does the color of the light when emblem is illuminated match the color of headlight/fog light combination?
very close yes
Sweet truck ... nice clean install
Thanks bud

Dielectric grease too
Will the badge light come on with just the fog lights or maybe just the running lights?
You know I’m not positive, I think just the headlights but will have to check
@@FlippinCustomized What was the verdict on this? Does the emblem only light up with the headlights turned on or does the daytime running lights allow the emblem to come on?
Do you know how to have it light 💡 up with just the running lights aswell. Instead of only the low beams
You would have to tap into that circuit behind the headlights but it would no longer be plug and play
I have a 2023 Yukon SLT and it has a camera in that same area. It does appear different from this. Like one person mentioned it looks like it is one assembly. Any suggestions on this?
Man I’m not sure I haven’t messed with a 2023

It was a customer ride I don’t have access at the moment
Does the wiring harness come with the emblem? Great video thanks for the tips
Yes this kit came with everything needed, well put together kit
Just picked up a 2020 gmc sierra 1500 elevation. I've been seeing that one of the kits only work with multipro tailgates do you know if this is true? I just have the regular one.
Honestly not sure on that one, I would double check with dealer
Thanks so much helped me out at work was Abel to do it no prob
Glad I could help
Wondering if this will fit a 2019 new body Denali? Thanks!
Not positive when they made the emblem size change you would have to contact dealer
Question, I have the led gmc emblem but is there a way to take out the letters to paint without taking apart the whole thing?
I don’t believe so without damaging it, just lots of taping
I have a 21 with duramax as well, how did you release the clips on the body piece that runs between the headlight and grill?
If we’re talking about the same ones they pull straight out, but not easy
Need these for the 21 canyons and Colorado’s!
Heck ya
So sad they don’t have em for canyon
Will that illumining logo fit my 2006 GMC SIERRA DENALI
?
I don’t think so, I think they enlarged the emblems

There is a big size difference unfortunately and different plugs

Digging it!!
Cool addition to the front

22” x 9” with 305-45-22
1.5” spacers

Is this available for a 2007 GMC Sierra slt crewcab ?
Maybe an aftermarket version
Would this fit on a 2011 yukon front grill???
I don’t believe so no
I wonder if I can use this on a 2016 Sierra All Terrain
Edit: what I mean is I’m curious if the dimensions are the same. Can’t seem to find dimensions on any GM website
Not sure but I know it’s one piece and the old ones were individual
Does that illuminated GMC emblem come in red lettering?
honestly not sure, might have to contact GM
does it fit a 2016 gmc sierra ?
I don’t believe so, I have a 15 and it’s a lot bigger
Do you have a link to find the part online for purchase?
I will see if I can get the part number and put it in the description
GM part number for the 2021 84741561

That sucks man, it’s one is still working
i dont get the concept of blacking out the emblem and then lighting it up.
Everyone is entitled to there opinion
That's awesome
Pretty cool upgrade now I want one 😂

There are no real hard parts, hardest thing is removing the old emblem without breaking it

For sure
Where can I buy this ???????

bro Sorry, you don't know if a 2017 fits?
Not positive but I don’t think so
Cool.
I bet with a little modification I can use this on my 2003 Sierra.
I’m thinking the same thing
