The only real safety is between your ears. As with a double action revolver, the only safety is to NOT pull the trigger until you want the gun to fire. Rack out the round, double check the chamber and then pull the trigger on the empty chamber. Pretty simple - has worked for me for decades.
I shoot competition and this gentelman is by far one of the best shooters I've seen in video or in person. I cant believe the grouping he has in any one of his uploads. He must have shot/shoots competition for decades. Great job man! 👍
I just bought a Glock 19 yesterday. It was highly recommended by several co-workers, and seeing your review of it in the first video sealed the deal. This gun is beautiful!
We have a Gen 3 and 4 @ the range I volunteer at. So far, folks prefer the Gen 4 unanimously. The ejections are pretty similar from observing folks who use them. Inspecting the gunners targets seems to have a tighter group w/ the Gen 4 over the 3.
very nice i have a gen 3 glock 17 and i can't recall ever having a problem with 115 as that's mostly what i shoot. i want another glock but i can't decide between the 19 or 26. i feel like the 19 would still be a little big to conceal for me.
damn, you're a good shot. I'd love to shot accurately as casually as you do. I just can't hit the range as often as I'd like. you shot more in this video alone than I shoot in a year.
@scprotector1 , I love it! I'll get around to some holster videos this spring. I've been carrying in this holster, as well as a couple of others through the winter. I definitely have some opinions.
If your gun has removable backstraps on the grip, its a gen4. They are shipped from the factory with 3 mags. Sometimes sneaky dealers will take one out and sell it separately. I think you got shortchanged 1 mag.
Thank you Sir for you wonderful videos. You have been a great help in not only helping me decide to purchase a glock 19 but also in what kind of ammo to use with it. You remind me a lot of my father. He passed away almost 3 years ago now so I have no one to turn to for gun advice. A am however quite certain he would approve of your videos, shooting skills, and advice. Honestly sir, thank you for taking the time to make your videos! Some of us don't have a wise man in our corner any more. THANKS!
Going pick up my first handgun this weekend at a local gunshow. I'm hoping to pick up the gray framed/black slide Glock 19 gen 4! Really excited to get to the range!
My favorite of all 9mm! This video only reminded me of my loss 7 years ago when I met my wife and kids. I sold my Glocks (plural) and bought bought a Taurus 24/7 pro series. I couldn't take the chance of having one of my kids getting my gun and playing with it. I miss you Glock!
You are about to accomplish the impossible. Something I thought that would never happen in a thousand years. Due to your videos I am starting to like Glocks. Perhaps the ugliest pistol ever made. For some reason when you shoot a Glock. It does not seem so ugly and even may look a little cute. So I am breaking down and getting a Glock 19. If anybody asks. It is my daughter's gun. Keep up the good work Hickok45. You are the best of the best on gun videos.
I just put an ad online looking for a metal foot locker..oh well. All kidding aside, I have been watching your videos for the past week, and I find them very informative. Thank You.
I have a gen 4 Glock 19 made in 2013 with the updated spring and ejector, and still get consistent erratic ejections and BTF. Limp wristing isn't the issue, I have shot a gen 3 and only this one has given me these issues. The spent casing has a slight triangular scratch on the top which , from my research, indicates that it may be hitting something it shouldn't on its way out instead of having a clean ejection out to the side. I have about 650 rounds through it and still have this problem. Glock sent me a prepaid shipping label so I am going to have to send it to them, and from what I have read on with other people with this problem, it may take 2 or 3 times sending it back before the problem is fixed or the gun is replaced completely. Anyone with any suggestions would be appreciated. I know that most of the newer Gen 4s are good to go , I must have gotten a lemon. It goes bang every time, never had a FTF but I did have a stove pipe but I had released the mag before I shot the last bullet for some reason and that's the only time it happened. Also the slide failed to lock back after the last round twice, this only happened when I filled the mag with 10 rounds instead of 15 although it could have been my grip. Almost wanted to give up on Glock after hearing this issue is present in many newer Gen3's as well, but I love the midsize so I decided to see if they could fix it before I bought another brand. Sending my 19 in today or tomorrow, wish me luck.
My Glock 19 Gen 4 was built in November of this year (2013)..... Out of the 300 or so rounds I have put in it so far Ive had probly 10-15 rounds hit me in the head or chest area. Not a big deal to me to be completely honest and 15 rounds out of 300 isnt too bad. No malfunctions except for a double feed in the first couple shots I made in the gun. I attribute that to maybe it being brand new. I like my Glock 19 and dont plan on sending it in to Glock for anything.
grey hickman yea. the only thing is a Glock isn't suppose to have a break in period, the old ones never did nor did they need a specific grain bullet to eject properly. Maybe the new cheaper made mold injected metal (MIM, aka any Glock made after Oct. 2010) made ones need it, but after 600 rounds I'd say the gun should be broken in. If you don't mind it and it's not that big a deal great keep shooting it, but understand that erratic ejection is not a normal function of a pistol. Mine only had one malfunction (FTE) so some brass to the face isn't as bad as it jamming all the time. However, a few times casings hit my safety glasses so hard it could have done some damage to my eyes. Hopefully if you ever need to use the gun in a defensive situation and it does happen to throw one back at your eye, you hit him with the first round because now you are blind lol Don't get me wrong, I still love my Glock I just find it sad their quality control is slipping with the newer models, they just aren't what they used to be.
***** glock has the best customer service in the world. I can actually take my glock down to georgia and they will detial strip my gun, clean it, and replace any parts needed at no charge.
@surfside006, You are correct; there is no such thing as a safe action, or an unsafe action. Only a person is unsafe or safe. The only thing that fires any handgun is somebody putting a finger on the trigger and pulling it.
ive been shooting the fed. aluminum cased and brass both 115 grn and never had a malfunction except with my shield. glock 26 &19 gen 4 eats everything feed it
Thank you so much for all your videos... You and your son are awesome people... Honest and trustworthy... I watched all your videos at least 3 times I find something new every time I watch them... I have learned a lot thanks again.. God-bless you in the family.. Life is good...
One of the lessons to take away from all of this is that while some ammunition generally performs better than others, you should train/practice in such a way to expect periodic malfunctions and clear them quickly. At the range, a FTF or FTE is, at worst, frustrating. In a defensive situation, being surprised by either, and confused as to how to respond, can be life ending.
Gospel Sheepdog I actually welcome ammo-related malfunctions during practice. Cheap ammo that chokes the gun every once in a while lets you get fast at getting the gun back in action.
+iyn1911 I love the stock sights. Great sight picture, and I've never had trouble with them. I find it almost funny that people complain about them because they are polymer. The only reason mine are ever changed out is to install night sights, which I rarely do, but I have two or three Glocks with night sights.
That was pretty neat how that snow ball collapsed in on its self little by little after every shot took some out of it instead of just exploding apart.
I got a G23 (same as 19, except in .40) couldn't carry it so I sold it and got the subcompact 27. It was just a tad too big but I should've made an attempt to find a better holster. Get the 19 and get a Raven VG2. 34 bucks and you won't find a better "holster" or more comfortable to carry in. Good luck!
***** Look at the Raven Van Guard 2. I use this holster daily and there is not a better way to carry a concealed weapon. Its a little over 30 bucks but comes with options such as quality material and a military snap buckle. I wish I had had this during my time in the service. Trust me you wont regret it. It's a concealed Carriers best kept secret as well as it coming from a quality company that cares for its people. Made in USA!
I do carry it on daily base. Using the Fobus adjustable paddle holster. The G19 is same accurate as full size G17 but for me its the sweet spot size for carry. If I sit down in car its not going pushed out of the holster, nor is it pressing against seat back. G17 is too big, G19 is about perfect with similar abilities as G17.
Gen4 Glocks are excellent in my experience. I broke my G4-19 in with NATO 124gr surplus as well as my own hot loads; a 124 Nosler with 6.5gr AA#7 & a 147 XTP with 5.9gr. Put 250 rounds of each through it then cleaned it and put another 300 of the NATO down range and had zero issues so I began testing defensive loads. Have shot 200rds each 124 +P Gold Dot, HST and Hornady TAP, 150rds 147 +P HST and Hydra Shok, 150rds CorBon 115 DPX, again zero failures. I have a 19 & 32 in Gen4 now and trust them both with my life as I do all my Gen 3's!
Just think, it a thousand years, the archeologist will be trying to figure out what battle happened on your property, or they will use it as a lead mine. Great video!!!
I have noticed while you were shooting the lawman and then going to the Blazer that you said the Blazer didn't have as much kick as the Lawman. I also noticed that the Lawman had your ejections erratic and going everywhere, while the Blazer ammo looked a consistent side ejection.
Bought a Glock 19 Gen 4 this past Saturday, cant wait to break it in at the shooting range once it gets a Lil' warmer outside.Love the videos Hickok45, very informative.
Check from 19:45 in this video, you can see how The brass ejects in different directions and some of it to your hat/face. My late g19 gen 3 does The same thing, sends brass pretty often to my face.
muushkin I have owned and fired Glocks of many models (17, 19, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 42, 43) and Gens (except 1st Gen) and have never had an issue with brass to the face. I don't know if it is the way people hold the pistol or what but it just has never been a problem for me.
Just picked up my new Glock 19 Gen 4 yesterday (yup, I've gone over to the dark side). Haven't had the chance to get it out to the range yet. The spring in the one I picked up is a 041 spring. Seems to be a new spring compared to the 04 spring. The slide is pretty easy to rack so I'm hoping thats a good sign. Love the feel of it so far and I'm hoping I love the reliability just as much as I do the feel. Love the vids! Always great to see a new vid from hickok45 ;) Keep up the good work!!
I have a glock 27 as well. Enjoy shooting it and getting comfortable with its size. I know when I shoot the federal I have times it doesnt always load the next round and locks the slide back. But dont have any issue with any other types of ammunition. Thanks for the videos. They are always informative and fun to watch.
I will always promote the Winchester 9mm NATO. Only issue my Taurus G2C gave me out of 100 rounds was one light strike. They are great plinker bullets for the price. I will be using them in my G19.
I just recently picked up the 19 and had alot of problems with hard primers. For my reloads I usually use CCI or sellier and bellot. Chapter 3? Lol Thanks for hours and hours of entertainment Mr Hickok45. By far the best youtube chanel online :)
First of all, DO NOT SHOOT RELOADS OUT OF A GLOCK....... this is a very very bad idea. Unless you have an aftermarket barrel in your gun which I assume you dont then you should never shoot reloads. Shooting reloads out of a Glock can cause the gun to literally blow up. If you dont believe me look up "Glock Kaboom" on youtube.
Oh in that case you are good. I just got scared when I read your comment because I have heard alot about Glocks blowing up with reloads if you dont use a wolf barrel or some other aftermarket barrel
My glock 19 is my favorite gun to carry. My light carry is a m and p shield 2.0. I’ve put over 1500 rounds through my glock 19 and no issue. Glock4life
Bought the Glock 19 Gen 5 and the Sig Sauer P365 and I tell you I love these two brands they just work. Glock is a tad easier to rack than my little snappy Sig
All of these large capacity magazines make me jealous. We're limited to a max of 10 rounds here in NY. Not to mention, I had to wait five months to get my permit.
Glock19 is perfect right out of the box because I learned that the hard way by changing the trigger, safety plunger, striker, & a $220 barrel & had failure after failure before putting the Factory Glock parts back in & haven't had a single failure since.
Bingo! Yeah, I thought I was so wise with my first Glock or two when I replaced the recoil spring and rod with some tungsten rod and spring. That was the only time I had a malfunction. I keep them stock except for maybe changing out sights or grip tape.
The Lawman is one of my favorite target rounds to put through my P95. I get it from academy for around $12 a box or so. Usually shoot the Winchester value box, but I do love the Lawman. And yes it is night and day with alot of the other rounds.
Matts vid is awesome as they usually are but he did make sure to mention that hickock is a cool dude while his video is in fact awesome, theres nothin shameful about hickocks vids. Thanks hickock keep em coming :)
@gearsofmuffin, I don't know the laws in your state, but in Tennessee I think a person is allowed to own a handgun if he or she is 18 or over; they just can't purchase one from an FFL dealer. Very strange. An FFL cannot sell to a nineteen-year-old, but the nineteen-year-old can own a handgun. Check your laws.
With the Glock 23 in .40 S&W you can exchange the barrel and magazin to shoot the more universally available and cheaper 9 X 19 mm cartridge. Since when field stripped all internal parts are exposed, if it falls in dirt or saltwater you may wash it in hot water. When it is dry, just give it a thorough cleaning with WD 40. Fine dirt may enter parts of other pistols that are harder to clean. With a 3.5 lbs. trigger the Glock is as accurate as the SIG, H&K, Beretta or Walter. In fact, I find it much more accurate because it sits further up in the web of my hand and gives me a lower line of sight. I have fired about 2,000 rounds with 9mm and .40 in my Glock 23 and have yet to experience a malfunction. I favor the old Glock design over the subsequent "generations." I believe the reason our military did not adopted the Glock may be because of the perception of accidental discharge with a hammeless weapon.
Honestly, I can't stand people who go on so serious and authoritarian when doing videos about guns, Hickock is a good bloke, calm and relaxed.
bloke is a english term (UK). I just means "man." so he was saying Hickok is a good guy or good man.
PIers Morgan on the other hand is a pile of cow manure.
DBIIJ0U hi muje gan chahie. Hotdha mani
Because of you, I called the gun guy and told him I need a 19 asap. I'm ready to shoot!!!
Never stop making these. You’re a legend.
The only real safety is between your ears. As with a double action revolver, the only safety is to NOT pull the trigger until you want the gun to fire. Rack out the round, double check the chamber and then pull the trigger on the empty chamber. Pretty simple - has worked for me for decades.
As a Glock 19 Gen 4 owner, I really enjoyed this informative video. Well done (as always). Thanks.
Imagine someone breaking in his house and all they hear Hickok 45 say let’s see if it shoots😂😂😂😂
The sight of all those loaded magazines on the table makes me salivate

Your accuracy is amazing! Especially when you were shooting the trunk at first. You were putting shots in the exact same spot. Incredible
Thanks to all your Glock videos I decided to finally add a G19 in FDE to my armory.
We have a Gen 3 and 4 @ the range I volunteer at. So far, folks prefer the Gen 4 unanimously. The ejections are pretty similar from observing folks who use them. Inspecting the gunners targets seems to have a tighter group w/ the Gen 4 over the 3.
just put my first 150 rounds through my new glock 19 gen 4. I love it...........
It's hard to hate a Glock 19.
Never had a Glock before. I fell in love with my 19.
did it jam during any of those 150s? I'm surprise hickok's glock jamed a few times..
Didn't jam at all. hasn't jammed at all in the 600 rounds I have put through it since I got it.....
very nice i have a gen 3 glock 17 and i can't recall ever having a problem with 115 as that's mostly what i shoot. i want another glock but i can't decide between the 19 or 26. i feel like the 19 would still be a little big to conceal for me.

Price glock 19 gen 4
Price in pakistan
I really enjoy watching your precision shooting. Your video convinced me to buy the Gen 4 Glock 19!!!
Hickok45: *Always makes fun of himself for being a hillbilly*
Also Hickok45: *Vocabulary includes 'lackadaisically'*
Bought my glock 19 gen4 today very thrilled to have along my side as a law enforcement officer! !!!

I hope he isnt because my grandpa is dead and I don't want hickock to die :(
Who me?? I'm not old enough!
Just bought a 19 gen 4 cant wait to take it to the range thanks for the great video Sir.
Going pick up my first handgun this weekend at a local gunshow. I'm hoping to pick up the gray framed/black slide Glock 19 gen 4!
Really excited to get to the range!
Did you get it? Just got mine yesterday!! She's so sexy. Put 100 rounds through it today. Zero issues. Smooth shooting gun. Love it. Paid 520
"Look at all the ammo I get to shoot, and all the fun I get to have." A dream come true!
Nice at 17:52, literally just shot the top off without spilling a drop
Boss Hogg right?! I was like, “did anyone else see that?!”
Love the little laugh he gives after emptying out a clip!!
The ejection pattern is very eradic even saw a couple casings land on the top of the slide.
Ryan Coufal Boo hoo
Gen 3 💀
So what bro
i've watched this video multiple times throughout the years, and it never gets old.
Is it just me or can you see the bullet sometimes
Brett Mctyre Yep you can see them in person when shooting too
Only when he shoots .45
I thought that too
Lmao hell nah that’s y’all seeing the shells
25:22 that would of been a malfunction but it was the last round for that mag. . your reaction was priceless when it came out. Thanks for the videos .
I think I just found my conceal carry gun!!
Dan Rodecap the glock 19 is the most carried gun in the country.

How about shooting some FROZEN 2-liters?
Just think, it a thousand years, the archeologist will be trying to figure out what battle happened on your property, or they will use it as a lead mine. Great video!!!
man your shot are accurate
I have noticed while you were shooting the lawman and then going to the Blazer that you said the Blazer didn't have as much kick as the Lawman. I also noticed that the Lawman had your ejections erratic and going everywhere, while the Blazer ammo looked a consistent side ejection.
I noticed that too after you mentioned it. the ejections on the lawman ammo looked very erratic.
I loved this video i love my 9 mm glock 19
Bought a Glock 19 Gen 4 this past Saturday, cant wait to break it in at the shooting range once it gets a Lil' warmer outside.Love the videos Hickok45, very informative.
Brass to face all the time with that gun.
muushkin Really, never noticed.
Check from 19:45 in this video, you can see how The brass ejects in different directions and some of it to your hat/face.
My late g19 gen 3 does The same thing, sends brass pretty often to my face.
If you google G19 brass to face, it seems to be a common problem for gen 4 and late gen 3.
muushkin I have owned and fired Glocks of many models (17, 19, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 42, 43) and Gens (except 1st Gen) and have never had an issue with brass to the face. I don't know if it is the way people hold the pistol or what but it just has never been a problem for me.
+muushkin I never had issues with my 19 gen 4 as well.
ty for all the good reviews you always give us ...
his voice remind me walter white just close your eyes and imagine he is W.W :D
Hickok also used to be a teacher...
Man, you inspire me to go unload a bunch of ammo myself....thanks for making it fun.
2018 anybody?
King Wade 😬2019
@@J1Z06 same here 2019 baby I just got my g19 and I love it
Just picked up my new Glock 19 Gen 4 yesterday (yup, I've gone over to the dark side).
Eu quero uma dessas!
Great shooting video, thank you for spending your time educating and entertaining us.

You should have your own tv show. I really enjoy watchin. Great vids
Your shooting is truly awesome, if I were a gun manufacturer you'd get the test-job instantly
I will always promote the Winchester 9mm NATO. Only issue my Taurus G2C gave me out of 100 rounds was one light strike. They are great plinker bullets for the price. I will be using them in my G19.
i cant believe you just hit that steel plate about 100m away with such ease. Amazing.
If you dont believe me look up "Glock Kaboom" on youtube.
grey hickman its a wolf barrel
Oh in that case you are good. I just got scared when I read your comment because I have heard alot about Glocks blowing up with reloads if you dont use a wolf barrel or some other aftermarket barrel
Just pick up a Glock 19 Gen 4 today for my CCW. I'll be hitting the range with it next week to run 500 rds through it. Can't wait!
Hickock, you are awesome! I hope I always have as much fun shooting as you do!
My glock 19 is my favorite gun to carry. My light carry is a m and p shield 2.0. I’ve put over 1500 rounds through my glock 19 and no issue. Glock4life
love your videos, i cant find enough hours in the day to watch them all. only wish i had guns like you :P
@twistedyogert, I wouldn't know. Doesn't really matter what implement he used to carry out his hateful deed.
Such great vids. Looks like he's haveing so much fun too. Makes me want a big backyard and a target range for myself.
Check 25:21 , the last Winchester round failed to eject :) Great vid again, Keep em coming.
Awesome video. Gen 4s did have some problems in the beginning mainly due to the recoil spring n such but they fixed that. Theyre reliable now
Glock19 is perfect right out of the box because I learned that the hard way by changing the trigger, safety plunger, striker, & a $220 barrel & had failure after failure before putting the Factory Glock parts back in & haven't had a single failure since.
Life is always good when I'm watching a Hickok45 video!
Matts vid is awesome as they usually are but he did make sure to mention that hickock is a cool dude while his video is in fact awesome, theres nothin shameful about hickocks vids. Thanks hickock keep em coming :)
Just got a G19 Gen5 MOS. Going to the range today to out several hundred rounds through it 😁
@gearsofmuffin, I don't know the laws in your state, but in Tennessee I think a person is allowed to own a handgun if he or she is 18 or over; they just can't purchase one from an FFL dealer.
