Hey man, if you slow that video down I believe you'll see a bullet streaking to the target. It looks like you're shooting lead as caught a glimpse of the tell-tale silver streak heading for the steel gong. Great video once again!

@DarkHorsePSH , I shoot with my left eye, yes, because I get a clearer sight picture. I switched over a few years go. Shooting low-left is fairly common for right handers and usually has nothing to do with how you are using your sights; it's usually related to a bit of trigger jerk or flinch. Try to sand bag rest your gun, as well as get some other people to shoot it. It's very rare for the sights to be off measurably on any new defensive pistols.

I have had my Gen4 Glock 23 for a month now and shot 150 rounds through it. Truth be told the round is a little snappy, but not nearly as snappy as the 45 or 10mm i have been used to shooting. Despite the snappiness it's remarkably controllable and fun to shoot! Suffice it to say it's become my new every day carry gun and the gun i plan to take to training courses.

I've been a big fan of your videos, I just bought my first Glock (a 23 Gen 4) 5 days ago, I've put 100 rounds through it so far and like it. I purchased this for all around use, and also as a CCW. I have a preference for 9mm, but decided to try something different this time and have no regrets. Thanks again.

Got one as well and another great thing about Glocks 40's is that you can just drop in a oem 9mm barrel and buy some 9mm mags and bam you got Glock 19 or Buy a .357 barrel and use the existing .40 mags as their the same size. You can also for around a couple hundred bucks buy a .22 conversion kit. So in other words with the parts you can have 4 guns in one :). I have the same setups for my Sig's as well. I own a p226 and 228 and both are .40 but use either 9mm or .22 for practice etc.

Can't wait till I get my track of land and get to enjoy shooting out my backdoor! Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that I am making my first Glock purchase tomorrow and its going to be a 23 gen 4. I had researched all the models out there and narrowed it down to the 23 and 27, and your videos have helped me narrow it down to the 23.. Thanks so much!!!

@binky987 , Yes, any difference is minor. I'm would not trade any of my other Glocks just to get a Gen 4 gun, no would I reject one because it's a Gen 4 gun. I've not tried the 9mm Gen 4s yet, though.

Interesting to see the comparison and your perspective. Have you shot any groups on paper to see if the gen4's new design also affect group accuracy? Maybe that could be another comparison vid. Glock gen4's are getting some bad press lately, so comparison shooting vids will help us see the positives and negatives of the new design. Thanks

nice video, when you were doing the comparison shooting at 13:20-14:30 i noticed that the gen 4 glock had a little higher pitch sound to it, just a minute thing. i didn't notice any difference in recoil or slide movement, or anything of that nature. again nice vid

I have the Glock 30 gen3. It is my first and only gun (so far; my want list is extensive;) ). I also want the gen423 for my next gun, for CCW and otherwise. I've shot the 19 and the 23 at the range, and they feel great in my hand, compared to the 30. I have small hands (I'm 5'5") and the 30 is a bit wide which affects trigger reach and becomes marginal for me to be able to grip the way I'd like to. The 19/23 size frame feels excellent OTOH. I also like the .40 cal and the capacity it offers.

    Hey Greg,
    Great review, thanks for positng.
I watched your video on reloading a while ago.
Are you still reloading as much?
I've found it's not really worth it to reload 9 mm. I'm still relaoding .45acp at about half the cost of store purchased ammo.
have you ever considered using different sized gongs for diferent tones?
You could play a song with the tones from the gongs as you shot them... lol

According to some glock armorers and my departments training instructors. The gen 4 has fixes for the slide cracking on the ejector port and some other issues like spring breakage etc. That they had on the older gens.

Hickok, I appreciate your great reviews and in depth insight on everything you review. Your gen4 g23 review has persuaded me to try a glock. Being military I became accustom to the da/sa but when it comes to personal ccw you have helped immensely, and I will be shortly carrying a 23 off duty and no longer trying to conceal a full size .45 Ruger p90. What do you recommend for a good holster for concealing the 23?

I've shot the Gen 2,3, and 4 Glock 23's and there is definately a noticeable difference in the 2 and 4 23's. My conclusion was that it is because of the extra weight due to the compound recoil spring in the Gen 4. And it also feels better when shooting it due to the gen 4 having the finger grooves. This may not make that much of a difference to some but for the few like yourself that shoot almost religiously it'll be more noticeable. I carry the Gen 3 G23 and love it. By far my favorite gun.

@Jackomason , Don't know about those videos. I have almost 25 years of experience holstering and unholstering Glocks with no problems, so it doesn't really matter what they've found, other than maybe finding it interesting. :-)

This is the first hickok45 video I've watched. Watched it sometime back. I happen to own the Glock 23 gen 3. You're comparing the gen 2 with the gen 4. Is my gen 3 going to be quite similar to the gen 2?

Gen 4 is just perfect. I hated glocks until I held my gen 4 in the gun shop. I held it as I was trading in a 38 special and all I could say was "wow." It felt natural and it just felt like I had a whole lot of gun in my hands. I shot it for the first time and it had less kick than my 38 special, and my 40 cal S&W SD40VE. Wonderful gun and this is one that isn't getting sold :)

From what I understand... If you want the 19 get a Gen 3, if you want a 23 get the Gen 4 ( have the G23 Gen 4).... Coming from somebody who use to shoot often but now only shoots occasionally, shooting the 40 for the first time in about 8 years was rather eye opening. If you don't shoot often get the 19, if you shoot often get the 23! You won't be disappointed either way though.

I bought a used police trade-in but with an extended polished stainless steel Barrell. I think it was at least a whole inch longer and was marked Model 23.
It was odd so I took it if they would throw in 4 extra mags and do it all for $400 even. They did because I was a frequent buyer of guns, ammo, holsters, rifles, shotguns, optics and jewelery. I love G23s and all blocks.

I'm a new subscriber.. And I was wondering, who films your videos? Is it your wife? Because in your Christmas video it was a woman filming I believe.

This is off subject, but I was curious: Have you ever went to shoot a gun at a safe direction to check if theres anything in the chamber and actually fired a bullet?

Hey Hickok what brand ammo do you shoot? You seem to shot a lot and the 40 ammo here in town is kinda expensive maybe you can let me know if you buy in bulk or from a certain store. And by the way you are pretty awesome with that firearm sir.

Love the vids Hickok. I'm a new Glock owner, a 17. But, been shooting rifles and shotguns my whole life. 40 something now. After buying the 17 on advice because it felt the best in my hand at the time, I've grown concerned that there is no way I'm gonna want to carry this everyday. And, that's why I bought it. I'm training, and will get my CC permit in a couple weeks. So I want the 23. That's what brought me to this video. Should I be looking to get the Gen 4 23, and what's your take on the C?

Hey Mr. Hickok, quick question: First and only gun for concealed carry and home protection. 19 gen4 or 23 gen4 ?

Thank u for your videos. Enjoy them very much. I just purchased my first ever Glock. WS wondering out of the box before going to shoot it , would you recommend doing anything to the gun? Oil, wipe it down, etc? Any advice would be appreciated. I am an old "45 wheel gun" so this will be an experience. Thank you again. Todd

After watching Hickok's vid I did a search and just purchased a G23 gen 2 in very good condition. I like it better than the generation 3 with the rail. No generation 4's here in Cali-10 Round-Fornia.

How do you like the cross breed holster? Could you maybe do a short video on it? I've been thinking about getting one. I'm worried about the kydex retention wearing the finish on my 1911.
