    I first started watching your videos when I was about 16 years old, when my dad purchased my first gun and I just recently turned 21 and plan on getting a pistol permit. Finally!! I have to say you're the one who has sold me on the Glock 23. I want it to be my first handgun. But what I was trying to say was I was deeply saddened to hear about your account going down twice in the matter of two days and I thought that the second time you were done for sure. I'm beyond thankful that you are back and still kicking because you've honestly taught me so much about firearms. You've taught me about gun culture and the importance of the second amendment. This is my thanks to you hickock, thank you for doing what you do and inspiring me to be a gun owner. Thank you to you and your son John for putting out such quality, educational videos that are not short of humor as well. I owe it to you and could probably thank you a million times more. Take care.

    I use to be a Correctional Officer! This is the gun we trained with! Out of 7 years of shooting the G23 gen 4 our instructors said each glock had around 250,000 rounds through them each! We were talking afterwards to our instructors and they stated we hardly had any problems at all with them! That made me a glock fanboy! Over a year period I bought 2 of the Glocks 23 gen 4! I edc the 23 and the 19! Now I got the 19X and the Glock 45 9mm! Also got the G19 gen 5 and the Glock 48 all black! Great firearms that are dependable & tough!!!!! Thanks Mr. Hickok45! Good videos!

    I hear that term, "Short & Weak" a lot when guys talk about the .40 S&W and most of the time its guys who love the 9mm, so if they think the .40 S&W is Short & Weak then that would make the 9mm Puny & Frail' or Fatigued & Delicate' or Physically Unable'.....

    • @ManiacalMill
      @ManiacalMill 8 лет назад +7

      While I do hear it from all sorts of different caliber fans, the term originated from 10mm fans.
      The .40 S&W is literally a shorter and weaker 10mm (10mm is an older cartridge than the .40).
      With that said, .380, 9mm, .38 special, .357 magnum, and .357 Sig all use the same bullets (or at least can).
      A .380 casing is right around half the length of a .357 magnum's, so there's obviously an incredibly significant difference in the powder load.

    • @GunsHarleysUSA
      @GunsHarleysUSA 8 лет назад +4

      I know where the term first originated, I was speaking to those 9mm fans who call the .40 S&W short & weak.

      @ManiacalMill 8 лет назад +4

      +GunsHarleysUSA Yeah, 9mm and especially .380 fans (though I don't particularly know many of the latter) aren't really in a position to call it "Short & Weak."

      @@ethancool8141 I'm saying a bigger, slower moving bullet is better than a smaller, faster moving one when it comes to over penetrating and wounding unintended targets. Add hollow points to that, and you've got a much bigger wound channel with less risk of the bullet going through. Why not a 45 then? Well the 40 is better for follow up shots than the 45.

    I had an FNX40 for a half dozen years and liked its features but it never shot tbe way I thought it should. It always shot too low for me and others who shot it. FN basically blew me off when I called the about it. After watching yours and others videos and doing some more research I recently traded the FNX40 for a Gen 4 Glock 23 and after taking it to the range I am very pleased with my decision. It performs exactly as you said and was accurate right out of the box. I'm left handed and switched the magazine release to the opposite side without a problem. Probably my 70 year old eyes but I hit pretty consistently a bit to the right so I'm going to drift the rear sight a fraction to the left and I should be close to dead on for me. Thanks for your entertaining and informative videos.

While at my FFL, I looked and handled a 23 Gen 4. It felt a lot better than the earlier models. I had them hold it for me. Picked it up yesterday, brought it home, already ran 2 boxes factory and 1 box of my reloads. No problems with the cases on my reloads. Shot accurately, recoil really light, fast back on target. Thanks for the Great reviews and demonstrations with handguns. They really help when making decisions on possible purchases.

    • @mannys9130
      @mannys9130 7 лет назад +2

      Doug Smith Strongly disagree. The .40 is better in every way. Actually, the 10mm is more versatile than both, but the .40 can fit in 9mm frames. The .45 ACP is an inefficient, low pressure round that was only relevant in pre-Nato combat where ball was the only choice.

      mannys9130 Right. That's why most freaking SWAT teams carry .45. You don't know what the hell you're talking about.

    @Pippie341, Only on purpose! ;-) Seriously, once I was removing a tick from my leg with a 1911 in .45 ACP. I shot the tick without breaking the skin on my leg; however, the powder burns were as bad as being shot. The problem is, as you can imagine, it HAS to be a close range shot when you're removing a tick from your own body.
    By the way, if you fell for that one, I have this big statue in New York Harbor that I'll let you have for just $10,000, cash money! :-)

    Why the U.S. military doesn't use Glocks in a bigger capacity (no pun intended) I have no idea. I know the military sidearm has to have a manual safety yada yada n other specs it has to meet but Glocks just work when ya need them to. Call me a Glock fanboy, I'll wear that title proudly because my G23 goes bang with every squeeze of the ole booger hook haha.

      +Craig Todd Choosing a new firearm for the military is no easy feat. It's primarily a political decision as well as a financial decision.

      Well, looks like Glock failed because they aren't modular. I love Glock and have 3, but the P320 is great as well and is truly modular. I'd like Glock to make some innovative models. Glock 44 should be a single stack .40 S&W. Glock 45 should be a Glock 30s or 36 chambered for 10mm auto. Perhaps a 19L.

    After seeing Hickok45 recommend the G23 Gen 4, I bought one myself. Several hundred rounds through it so far (mild and hot) and it hasn't hiccuped once. I'd say it's more accurate than my G19. As the man says life is good with a G23. Thanks Hickok.

    I purchased my first 23 about 10 years ago. I have never liked any pistol better period. I work security part time and carry the gen 4 23 for my duty weapon. I've heard that the gen 4 have had issues with a weapons light. I got the TLR7 and l have had no issues at all . I'm just glad that 9mm is the new hot round because it leaves more 40 ammo for me.👍

    Phenomenal shooting in this video Mr Hickok!
    I finally put money down on a 23. It had become one of those pistols that I just had to own to accompany the G27. Both Gen 3 since this is Cali and limited to 10 in the mag, if I ever move to a free state I'm going crazy buying standard capacity magazines for my favorite guns.

    @danpetreikis, Hey, I got through the same indecision. It usually comes down to whether I'm going to be sitting a lot, whether it's in the car or elsewhere. The G27 wins there by just a little bit. They are a great pair, just like the G19 and G26.
