I think 12 is def not excessive as someone who has def had that many in the past. Sorta sad I don’t have the life that requires so many styles of shoes that I had in my younger life.
I have 26 pairs of shoes, four pair cowboy boots, one pair regular boots, one pair rain/garden boots and one pair garage shoes. As a senior I probably only really use about four pairs. Plus my feet hurt with some of them. The other shoes get used when I dress up which isn’t often. And most of my shoes were thrifted. So I need to get rid of about half of them!

This is such a motivating video. I think I've met my hoarding twin in Becky. Having just moved into my own little place and living alone I'm going through the process of decluttering 20years worth of hoarding, which has followed me to every home I've been to. I have managed to sort 80% of my shhhhh and it's taken a wee while for do the last 20%, I just need something to kick me in the butt to finish. This video is exactly what I need to spur me on. Great job Carla and Becky for a completing a huge task and best of luck with maintaining it.
I love the shoe rack solution in the closet, and especially how your friend managed to purge HALF of her footwear. I still think the craft corner needs more purging (you don't want to block the window), but there were A LOT of decisions made today, and you both did a great job! 💜
I have 11 pairs of shoes but it would be easy to go down to about 6. Tennis shoes, fall boots, a pair of dress shoes, summer hiking sandals I also wear in the water if needed, flip flops and snow boots. But all 11 pairs fit nicely in the space I have for shoes and I don't mind having that many. I think 85 pairs would make me anxious. 😂
I know I’m late to finding your channel but I think the reason Becky made so much progress is that you sound like such a genuine friend that respects her decisions and she trusts you - there was no judgement or frustration in your tone. Plus Becky has a cute personality (not just because she shares my name 😂) subscribed!!! Thank you for your content.
83 isn’t bad! I helped my sister move apartments. I stopped counting how many pairs of shoes she had after I hit 200. She loved them all! I think I only have 8 pairs of shoes which even for me feels excessive because I truthfully only wear 3 pairs regularly. My shoes last forever though since I’m in a wheelchair. Shoes don’t really get dirty if they never touch the ground. Plus it lets me get away with wearing tall high heels because it’s not like my feet are gonna be sore since I’m not walkin’😂 I do however have an insane amount of socks. I have no idea why. I have never once purchased socks. Everyone gives me socks!! I feel bad getting rid of them though because they are perfectly good socks! I got rid of about half my stash today though because they were all brand new and I figured someone else could use them. So I can’t really judge anyone for having too many shoes when I have too many socks! We all have our things that we collect/hoard
Another amazing makeover! Carla, you have the patience of a saint! I imagine you probably would rather get rid of way more stuff, but you are so understanding and let them decide for themselves. You worked a miracle organizing all that stuff and making it look so good too. Samson is just the cutest, my beautiful doggy went to doggy heaven a few days ago 😢💕
Hearing you all lost your shoes is actually inspiring. I’ve had a shoe fetish for years. I had about 60 and have paired down to about 40. My goal is 20. I don’t care to go under 10, I just want a reasonable amount of things
When I moved to this house, during the Covid lockdown in a scorching heatwave, because everything was closed up and I couldn't get any help, I had to bring all my clutter (and even some furniture that was too big for this new place!) with me. I'd been in my previous cottage for 8 years, I'm an artist and crafter, so you can imagine I'd 'accumulated' lots of stuff. I was so stressed by how disorganised everything was, I grabbed my trainers, house slippers and some flip-flops and then threw all my other shoes into this big plastic storage container with wheels that I could push under the bed. It was meant for storing bedding but my shoes were everywhere, like they were breeding. Thankfully my 2 favourite pairs of winter boots were too big to fit and just got thrown in the back of the wardrobe. 2 years on and I was getting ready to go out for my birthday... and decided I wanted to wear a specific pair of shoes... but couldn't remember where the hell I'd put them. Then I realised that I had just worn the Trainers/flip-flops/house slippers and those 2 pairs of boots for that whole time and the rest of my vast collection of footwear had never crossed my mind! When I finally remembered the underbed storage box.... all my high street fashion shoes had disintegrated!!!!! If the heel and base are made from certain cheap plastics, storing them together like that actually caused them to develop cracks and they all had to go into the rubbish. Such a shock but also taught me I do not need many pairs of shoes, so will invest in decent pairs if I do buy in future.
Great job, both of you! Dear old Samson, how he suffers while he waits for you to finish, LOL! Bless him. I hope your friend finds that easy to maintain because it's a huge improvement. You did really well!
I absolutely love that these are so real. It is super motivating to see a real transformation and clutter that is relatable. Inspires actual motivation and zero shame.
Young lady, I just started watching you today to help me finish a declutter project. Watching y'all made me tired😂but I was encouraged to keep going. The more I declutter, the more I realize how much more I need to declutter. I don't want to be weighed down by things anymore. I have tons of identity clutter, sentimental, and just in case, or poverty/lack clutter. You two worked so well together! I think the best thing about a friend is being able to tell the story of the items. ❤❤❤❤❤
I've been searching for you, you are the best! This is a cluttered space that LOOKS LIKE MY CUTTERED SPACE!. I love that you didn't spend fifteen minutes telling me what I'm doing wrong. You just jumped in and started doing it!
That dog is like "look at all the chew toys"...lol... probably thinking why does momma got so many shoes and I don't even wear one pair myself... Too adorable!!!
thanks Carla for the Earth Breeze washing sheets promo. I tried them and LOVE EARTH BREEZE! Our clothes are clean and the space saving of the small package versus the huge heavy washing liquid jug that we no longer buy is incredible and feels like we've partially decluttered the washing area.
Great job y'all!!! This is inspiring, because what I do is look at the unorganized area, get overwhelmed, and do nothing. So I'm going to watch again, and maybe it'll sink in.....🌷🌷
For an even cleaner look, you could put up a tension rod and a nice neutral curtain over the craft storage area. Great job with the purge and organizing!
An awesome transformation as usual! Thank you to Becky for sharing her space and Carla, you are so patient and kind. I would have had a hard time with how many shoes she kept but I am more of a minimalist. You can tell each pair brings Becky joy, and to each their own. Love to you and sweet Samson. I love that he gets to go with you! ❤
I love Becky and her space, it's like a studio! Also this is the best decluttering series ever, you have the most interesting friends😀 Also, i don't really think the size of an Appartment matters in terms of clutter. In the last 10 years, i lived in an extremely messy 50m2 apt, a very organized 8m2 after that, then 25 m2 where I spend the pandemic with my partner. Now we live in a big flat which he would fill up in no time if I would look away for just 1 minute😂😂😂
PS not everyone needs to live in an empty white mansion. For myself, i just realized that i don't want more stuff then i can manage, for making my life easier.
I own 10 pairs of shoes and my slippers. I don't care about shoes, handbags or overly clothing. But backpacks...I have to be careful LOL Thank you both for taking us on this journey. I always find it very helpful and motivating!
First let me say thanks to Becky for opening her home up like this. Very brave. I kinda have 5 pairs of shoes but I typically wear the same ones depending on weather. Birkenstock in good weather and converse in the cold. Now I have two big bags of shoes in my closet to donate because my friends are always giving me shoes because they don't think I have enough 😂. The amount of shoes she has is just insane to me, but I have friends like her and they wear all the shoes so no judgement. The decluttering and organizing method you use doesn't work for me. It's the typical way to do it, but it's useless for me. I follow Dana K White. Clutter threshold, container theory and where would you look for it first. Also if stuff has too many steps to putting it away, I just don't do it. I absolutely love watching your videos especially when Samson is in them❤
It’s refreshing to see the actual decluttering process, instead of someone just talking about the benefits I know the benefits of how decluttering will change my life, but it is helpful to actually see how to do it Thank you
It looks amazing! Yet another fantastic episode Carla. 🎉 Thank you to Becky for letting us watch the transformation. Great job at letting go of old and unused things. The crafting corner reminded me of all my beads and supplies that haven’t been touched in years.😵
I love it! Such a satisfying watch. I especially love how the stapler gun fit into that drawer and how the riser shelf allowed the storage unit to fit. It's the little things make me happy😊
Carla made a good point: Becky has a lot of clothes, so she also has a lot of laundry. Basically, the less we have, the less work we need to do to take care of it. I'm watching this for decluttering and organising inspiration because I haven't the space, time or energy for all my stuff! I really appreciate how these are real people and real homes, not the show homes of the minimalist gurus (who are also helpful, just not realistic when you're starting out).
Nice job ladies! Love seeing the After transformation! Wow 80 plus shoes!! It’s like a scene out of Nordstrom’s! Lol. Not sure if Carla has assigned any homework but maybe Becky you can review your pens, paints and markers just to make sure nothing is dried up if you haven’t done so already? Just a thought! Kudos again on doing a great job ladies!
I love to challenge myself every once in a while (like weekly or every other week) to just find 5 to 10 things that I can declutter. I find that this way works really well for me and it most times makes me excited to find even more.
You can tell you guys are real friends ❤ Becky did so well letting go! This is the first time I’ve come across you 😮 subscribed with the bell on because I’m doing a hard core declutter and this is definitely inspo! I always get so jealous you guys have the best organising items in the US. Here in my town in rural Australia it’s very limited! Great job ladies 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I once had around 150 pairs of shoes. I've been decluttering that area for years and am down to just over 30 pairs. I'm hoping to get it down to 25 and I think that's where I would like to stay unless I feel inspired to declutter further. Also, flat sheets provide a barrier between your comforter and body the same way fitted sheets are a barrier between your body and mattress. It helps for laundering!
Flat sheets are essential! It’s easier to wash a flat sheet every week vs washing my duvet cover! And duvet covers are usually more expensive than sheets; washing the cover monthly vs weekly (because it is less soiled thanks to the flat sheet) - I don’t need to replace my duvet cover as often.
Hello gorgeous ladies thank you so much for the motivation to clean my closet at some point I was at 134 pairs of shoes so no 85 is not that bad 😂 I downsized to 55 right now and trying to shoot for 50 and keep it that way I try and organize my stuff every 6 months and donate stuff I don’t want to a local thrift store fast fashion is a problem I’m trying to buy less cheap crap and just add good quality pieces for every ten pieces of clothing I let go I bring in one you girls did so good ❤
So nice of you to help your friends, looks great too many shoes though. Last year I decluttered 2/3rds of my wardrobe then I went back a months later & removed half. I don't miss any of it. She probably doesn't wear half those shoes & when we are older & somethings not comfortable give to someone who needs it & it doesn't pain them :)🎉
I really love that you were decluttering a closet that most of us actually might have, it looks just like the one in my room so gave me some great idea on how to maybe better use the space on the sides that can be hard to reach.
I love how gentle you are with her ❤ for some of us is really hard to let go some because of trauma others for other reasons but you being so gentle and not judgmental I feel makes it easier ❤God bless you 💖
YOU are a GREAT friend! I've never seen a video of one room like this, where everything is in that one room. I live similarly and it's hard to keep everything looking nicely when my room is so full. I have never seen anyone w so many sneakers before! Great use of space and it's nice to see you guys have been friends so many years. It's also nice to see that you're still friends after the declutter! Ha! ❤❤
That was a lot of shoes IMO. I was keeping shoes that I hoped to wear but have come to the realization that I most likely won’t wear them. Some were platforms and since I’m getting older and suffer with arthritis I decided to be smart and declutter. My future daughter-in-law is living with us and lucky for her we’re the same shoe size. I have also donated shoes to soles 4 souls which sends them to third world countries. I find it easier to let go when I know my things will be well used and appreciated rather than sitting in my closet. Carla thanks so much for these videos. I think it’s great that you can help your friends.🥰
I tried the laundry soap, and I was impressed. I used to use liquid and now I'm in love with sheet soap. No lugging, no spilling, no storing and my.clothes are clean. I am a hairdresser, so I don"t know how it would work on a mechanic's clothes, but I think it's worth a try for the average person.
I used to have over 30 pairs of shoes and 32 coats... now down to around 15 shoes and 4 coats. Next up is the large collection/obsession with different sized travel bags that I can't seem to let go of even though I haven't been on holiday in 3 years! Lol
Yay I love this! 83 oh my! I’m a Minimalist and think my 15 pair is too many LOL but I have 4 seasons so that includes winter boots and rain boots. I have a few unique converse like the galaxy ones and aqua hombre but I mostly wear my vivobarefoot because at 42 I need comfort lol. I can’t believe when I lived in nyc 22 years ago I wore heels everyday!
Yea, if I didn't live in such a seasonal climate, I would totally reduce my # of shoes and clothing. But one day it's hot and the next is cold. Plus, you have to take into consideration profession, work boots etc are a necessity.

I was a preschool teacher ( taught 3s) and every year I would do a whole week lesson “ Everyday is Moms Day”. I would ask these little children ( and record it), how many airs of shoes their Mom had. The answers were soooo funny. One little boy said “ I can’t count that high”. 87 pairs of shoes…. Wow. That’s a HIGH number ☺️🥰!
Ok Carla, answering your first question, I think I have somewhere between 75 and 100 pairs of shoes. OMG I am obsessed with boots especially combat boots and Converse so I have a tons of pairs in different colors and designs.
Y'all did such an awesome job! I love that the closet can close and open so easily. I'm finding the more I declutter, and things aren't tucked away the easier I can keep decluttering. Less mental stress. Carla could you do a video on best ways to destress during the process? Especially when alone its so easy to make a huge mess, regret it and go take a nap instead of staying motivated 😂
@Emily it’s okay to take a break, no worries & pressure. It’s a process to be celebrated for what was started. I just give myself a little time line. I only start de cluttering on my days off/weekend. I might only have the strength or time to pull stuff out. Than take a break or sleep for the night and start up and finish the next day. Before starting the work week. Just set realistic goals. Like maybe all you can do on the weekend is shoes. Than the following weekend do all the jeans etc. It will make you feel better and not so overwhelmed. Good luck!
This seems like an example where another declutter in 6 months would make sense. When there’s so much stuff you need to give yourself a second (and maybe 3rd, 4th …) run

so glad it was helpful!
Yay! I love declutter with friends!
I love how positive this entire video was ☺️
we had fun!!
I'm so sorry to hear about your doggie. Sending you hugs. ❤
I'm so sorry for the loss of your sweet dog-friend.
I'm praying peace & comfort for your broken heart.
Hugs ❤
Carla you are a powerhouse!!! with Samson at your side you cannot go wrong 🏆🥇❤️💯 thank you for the video🙏
He makes it all possible ❤❤😂😂
Such a shock but also taught me I do not need many pairs of shoes, so will invest in decent pairs if I do buy in future.
you guys get along so well and it's so awesome how you helped her organize so much of her life!
Girl loves her shoes! I would LOVE to have that much closet space, and the built in vanity is such a nice feature. Another amazing transformation 🪄
So lucky to have a friend helping you to make life a little simpler. That in itself is unmeasurable.
Great job. I like that you didn’t pressure Becky to get rid items she like and make room for them. I love it. ❤
You got this!❤️❤️❤️
I've been searching for you, you are the best!
I know! Isn’t it just the best easiest swap!? I’m so glad you love it as much as I do!!
Becky is so super cute and fun and Carla is so supportive ❤
I love when you declutter with your friends.
Great job y'all!!! This is inspiring, because what I do is look at the unorganized area, get overwhelmed, and do nothing. So I'm going to watch again, and maybe it'll sink in.....🌷🌷
The secret to not getting overwhelmed, is to focus on one single item at a time. Every time keep bringing it back to that. You got this!!
For an even cleaner look, you could put up a tension rod and a nice neutral curtain over the craft storage area. Great job with the purge and organizing!
I think her (clutterbug) organizing style might be a bee, though, so then she would be a visual organizer 🤔 - for non-visual types, I agree, though
Carla, thank you for making declutering honest and fun... your chanel is a place of peace, relateable motivation and love. Healthy life everyone!
And Becky did great! I love how happy she is with the results! 💖
I KNEW we were in store for another treat!!! You're so dope girl!!! Thank you Carla & Friends...🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for watching!!❤❤❤
An awesome transformation as usual! Thank you to Becky for sharing her space and Carla, you are so patient and kind. I would have had a hard time with how many shoes she kept but I am more of a minimalist. You can tell each pair brings Becky joy, and to each their own. Love to you and sweet Samson. I love that he gets to go with you! ❤
i absolutely love your decluttering with friends series. It's awesome seeing you interact with those in your tribe. Keep being amazing.
Love the honesty!! 🎒🎒🎒🎒
I absolutely love watching your videos especially when Samson is in them❤
It’s refreshing to see the actual decluttering process, instead of someone just talking about the benefits
I know the benefits of how decluttering will change my life, but it is helpful to actually see how to do it
Thank you
Great video. It proves you can't organize until you declutter. Very motivational ❤
Way to go Becky! Thanks for letting us on your decluttering ride. It looks so good!
It looks amazing! Yet another fantastic episode Carla. 🎉 Thank you to Becky for letting us watch the transformation. Great job at letting go of old and unused things. The crafting corner reminded me of all my beads and supplies that haven’t been touched in years.😵
Love a realistic declutter/organizational project. Thanks for sharing!
I love it! Such a satisfying watch. I especially love how the stapler gun fit into that drawer and how the riser shelf allowed the storage unit to fit. It's the little things make me happy😊
We were so incredibly thrilled with the riser shelf, allowing that storage unit to fit. It was a Hail Mary moment!!
@@TheCarlaProject 😂
Carla made a good point: Becky has a lot of clothes, so she also has a lot of laundry.
Basically, the less we have, the less work we need to do to take care of it.
I'm watching this for decluttering and organising inspiration because I haven't the space, time or energy for all my stuff! I really appreciate how these are real people and real homes, not the show homes of the minimalist gurus (who are also helpful, just not realistic when you're starting out).
I love this series and Becky's energy is just great. 😊 Thanks ladies!
She is so fun!!
🎉🎉🎉 Wow, what a transformation!
I kept putting myself in Becky’s place. I wouldn’t be able to open up like that…Kudos!
She’s brave right!? Thank u!
I love your friends laugh. She loves life. ❤
She does!!
Wow, that required a lot of patience, getting all the craft gear into one clear workable space was excellent. Love it ❤
I love to challenge myself every once in a while (like weekly or every other week) to just find 5 to 10 things that I can declutter. I find that this way works really well for me and it most times makes me excited to find even more.
AWESOME WORK LADIES!!! Thank you Becky for letting us share this process! Your results are beautiful. Thank you Carla and Samson too. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
This was one of my favorite makeovers with friends. The space looks so inviting!
The closet turned out amazing! You guys did a great job! ❤
It's always good to see you Carla. Love watching you make a difference. Your beautiful inside out. Xx
Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰
Carla , I love all of your videos.. thank you for being inspiring ..
I love seeing you with your friends 🥰
So many shoes.. beautiful plants - and love those wooden covered storage bins. And fun earrings, Carla!
She probably doesn't wear half those shoes & when we are older & somethings not comfortable give to someone who needs it & it doesn't pain them :)🎉
"I think these would be good for a 70s costume" girl how often are you dressing up like the 70s???? Lol love you ladies
😂 our friends love a good theme party!🎉
@@RebeccaVillaneda 😂
I really love that you were decluttering a closet that most of us actually might have, it looks just like the one in my room so gave me some great idea on how to maybe better use the space on the sides that can be hard to reach.
I love watching you help friends! Maintenance declutters are nice, but it is really inspiring to see these first-time declutters for inspiration.
Thank you Becky for inviting us back to your space🙂 You ladies did such a great job. It looks so good. Even supervisor Samson approved😁
I love how gentle you are with her ❤ for some of us is really hard to let go some because of trauma others for other reasons but you being so gentle and not judgmental I feel makes it easier ❤God bless you 💖
Great job!! She definitely shows signs of a hoarder. That being said, it’s nice to see she’s making an effort to get rid of stuff.
I have found that shoes are one of the hardest things to declutter. They're part of an outfit!
You guys seem like such sweet, supportive friends! You're adorable!
Woohoo you're back. Love this friend of yours, she's such a sweetheart ❤🎉
I recommend using all clear containers! Makes life so much easier, so you don’t forget what you have.
Aww love that you gave Samson lots of guest spots, he is adorable and so calming💚💙💜. Great job on declutter, it was very enjoyable 2 watch and looks so good now👍👍👡👠🥿🥾🩴👟👛👜👝🛍👗🥻🩱🩳👙👚🥰. Thanks for sharing
How nice to have a long time friend to help with this.
Good luck!

Enjoyed the friendship the two of you have. And Samson, too. He's a keeper.
Great work. You did amazing.
Wow! What a transformation!! This really is great!!
These videos with your friends are my favorites !
Try putting all the gift bags vertically. Makes it more practical to access. 😊
You girls did great! You can tell you are great friends, what a blessing ❤
