In this episode, I fiberglass the 7.5" airframe tubes on my LOC Precision Iris kit. The Iris is a 12-foot tall high power rocket kit constructed of cardboard, wood, fiberglass, and carbon fiber.

I just watched John Coker's fiberglass video. Though he does a lot of prep, his method looks dead easy. You need a big table, butcher paper with a plastic lined side, 6 oz cloth and some 5 mil mylar. And he used a plastic spatula like a bondo spreader.

Resin for fiberglassing is a 1.1 to 1 resin to cloth ratio. So if you have 10 grams worth of cloth you will need 11 grams worth of resin. This is for a laminating resin though. The west system I would think is higher viscosity so you might need more but I have never used it.

8 1/2 ounce is way to heavy you need to do 4 to 6 max and wrap them with 2 mil mylar and the take it off when it starts to set it will leave the finish like glass and you will only need to touch up little pits look up John Coker how to glass a tube on youtube works great if you do it the way he explains it

Go to Napa and get some fine body filler....Get the good stuff, sand tube with 80grit Lightly but good....If using just the cardboard tube start with 180grit, fill with the filler.....then 80 again....fill more if needed.....then 180grit and then your filler primer.....You'll save time and money......Check out the vids on my channel and you'll see how stuff comes out. PS, I'm a long time body tech.
