  • Head-End Dual Deploy is a method to use dual deployment while keeping a rocket design compact. Here's how I set up my Punisher 3 for HEDD.

    I really like the simple paper folds to find 1/4 or halfway- 180 and 90 degrees

    I'm glad you showed your Punisher build, I will be starting mine soon. I like how you show your build options and choices. I'm going to try to put my tracker in the e-bay. Thanks for doing these Videos they have inspired me to get my L-1 Certification and I'm ready to get my L-2 cert this year.

    I’m just starting the HPR part of the hobby and your videos have been both helpful and inspiring.
    I’m starting off with a regular Drago 4, which is the shorter head-end deployment version of your killer XL. I’m going through the written instruction for head-end on Wildman’s website but it is incredibly helpful and reassuring having your video to follow along with. Thank you for taking the time to put all of these together.

    Love your channel! Is there any chance you could throw together a video on the Missileworks gps? I am interested in a similar setup and would love to see how you built youts

      Yes, I will try and get one up in the next few weeks. I have the Rtx and T3 systems and can do a comparison of both.

    Do you have a video on the painting of Wound filament nose cones? I just got one and I need some tips on sanding and painting it.
    Thanks,

    Thinking about doing Head End Dual Deployment also. Based on what you are doing by putting your charge on the coupler,/ebay, this will push the nose cone off the front which will carry the drogue with it. When the shock cord finally tightens, the drogue will be pulled out. Any thought to placing the charge in the tip of the nose cone so all is push out instead of pulled out. Does it even matter?

      This is really no different from normal dual deploy setups with a hollow fiberglass nose cone. The pressure will build in the entire nose cone area before separation occurs, and the parachute will be pushed out of the nose cone as the nose cone is separating from the avbay.

    Any special considerations for packing/charges/etc with HEDD? I'm looking at a Mac Black Fly for my L2 and HEDD seems like the way to go

      With all the gear fitting relatively tight in the nose cone, you just want to make sure that your ematches are secure and the wires can't get yanked out of place when you pack the gear and set the nose cone in position. Other than that it's not much different from a standard setup.

    Ryan, do you have any videos of the Punisher 3 flying?

    • @flyfalcons
      @flyfalcons  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, it flew during the June and Sod Blaster launches last year. It flew during those launches this year as well, and I'll be getting those videos published as soon as I can. Being a heavy fiberglass rocket with smaller fins, it really prefers a high thrust motor with good speed off the rail.

      @@flyfalcons Any trouble keeping it under the 9000' waiver? I would think a punisher 3 would be quite the hotrod!

      @321Launch-ke7ji No trouble with proper motor selection; large I motors through medium J motors keep it in the 4,000-5,000 foot range. I would really like to stuff a K1103X in it, but it'll be well over 9,000 feet.

    What case is that you’re using for your T3?

    • @flyfalcons
      @flyfalcons  4 года назад +1

      That is direct from Missileworks. It takes up some space but moving the GPS between rockets is very easy.

    It looks like you have a pair of wings under construction behind you. Are you building an airplane? Vans RV by chance?

    • @flyfalcons
      @flyfalcons  4 года назад

      Yes, RV-7. Though construction has been pretty slow lately, hard to justify spending a lot of time and money on a two-seat airplane when we have kids now. We have a four-seat Stinson and are wanting to move on to a faster four-seater so we can all travel together.
