    The thermal color changing filament is pretty neat for sure, my 3d printer has saved my butt on projects more than any other tool in my garage. That's a great looking rocket, nicely done.

    Those un-welded i-bolts work just fine on a 54mm minimum diameter. I used them on my 54mm minimum diameter and they held just fine for 15 flights. Even on it's last 16th and final flight after I broke it into like five pieces with a CTI L730C the un-welded ibolts were still fine. In fact the 1/4" kevlar tether broke instead.

    I have an extremely compact avionics sled design for a 54mm MD rocket that I recently built that you might be interested in. It can carry 2 RRC2s for redundancy and also can house a featherweight GPS inside of a 6 inch coupler.

    So its basically a motor with a nose cone and some fins? The entire thing is motor casing.

    • @RocketVlogs
      @RocketVlogs  3 года назад

      Essentially! It could be shorter but RASaero simulations showed shortening it and ligthening it didn't have much advantage from this point, so I kept the extra space

    What minimum diameter rocket are you using for this vlog?

    • @RocketVlogs
      @RocketVlogs  Год назад +1

      This is a Madcow 54mm Tomach that was shortened to optimum length for the motor.

    Is 3.4 cal of stability bad

    • @RocketVlogs
      @RocketVlogs  3 года назад

      That's more than enough! It might weathercock being that overstable depending on wind. My Iris was around 3 on the N and I think that's part of the reason it leaned into the wind so much.

    How is the shock cord attatchted to the bottom section of the rocket?

    does not splinter as bad when you do not push really hard on it or hold piece of wood inside splintering causes weak spots

    • @RocketVlogs
      @RocketVlogs  3 года назад

      It still creates hairline fractures in the glass, backing it with tape, wood or anything else just prevents the pieces from sticking out. Unless you relaminated those fractures with epoxy you're still causing the same stresses on a filament wound tube.

    • @RocketVlogs
      @RocketVlogs  3 года назад +1

      "threading" it in with masking tape. We've done it successfully up to 75mm. I'll show it on video when it flies!
