Esam's logic makes sense - if you accept Skyjay's results for incineroar despite him being one of the few incineroar reps in NA, you have to accept Yoshi and Yoshidora argument based on Japan results
Depends. Because incineroar was considered like bottom 5 while yoshi was never even close to that bad.

Duck hunt is so underrated that no one remembers the character, he's a good character it's just that he has a high skill ceiling which discourages a lot of people from playing him. He has so little representation and it doesn't help that raito has disappeared from tournaments.
True. Duck hunt is THE most underrated, or rather one of the most underrated, Villager sometimes also takes the underrated spot simply because they can be rare sometimes, plus being a bit overshadowed by Isabelle.
The term you should have used is "high skill floor" actually.
Not many kids and young adults want to invest. They want an easy-pick-up-characters.

Corrin is definitely is a, well I have good moves but no mobility kind of character, and with characters with less mobility becoming more used, I think corrin will get better. Also shadic is incredible

What makes Jiggs even more scary now is that back air isn’t -7 anymore. It’s -3
You're right but (as a recent Esam video pointed out), this is assuming it's done as a landing hitbox coming out as low to the ground as possible which is rarely possible - even still a landing bair will generally be between -3 and -6. The other factor is the autocancel window which I don't know about in practice but removes up to 8 frames of landing lag from some higher bairs.
@@Hunted0LessShirt generally speaking due to back air being decently big and jiggs insane drift, bair not always being as low to the ground as possible doesn’t matter when even a higher up hit is safe enough to avoid fox up smash oos *before* you account for jigglypuffs drift. And this is one of her least safe aerials on sheild too, jiggs is a monster
As a Robin main, Robin is so underrated in the community. I wish more players would pick them up
I tried to main Robin at first when my family got ssbu on Christmas but I just gave up, now mained Corrin lol

Losing the checkmate combo really sucks. And not having the Levin Sword initially really sucks too. Dunno why they nerf him.

Underrated characters pro players can’t admit just because of no results - link, ylink, banjo, bowser jr, corrin, Isabelle, villager, piranha plant, pichu, mii gunner, mii sword fighter, duckhunt, wii fit, megaman, lucario, robin, inkling.
A really good duck hunt is terrifying. It's like playing a cross between pac-man and snake. And it takes a big brain player to really go hard in the paint with him. But playing against a good one a lot really helps you get batter at all around stage awareness and not just focusing on 1 move at a time but several. Cause those big brain characters play chess with the right player.

people who say Hero isn't high tier due to his RNG don't know how his RNG works
True. But outside of his RNG gimmick on his magic, he can be a bit helpless having slow but fairly strong fair and bair, having a few spells that deny shield, and having a bit of edge-guard tactics plus a few combo strings with Upair and having buffs that if doubled can just erase shield. Hero is definitely strong, but needs more careful gameplay, having to pay a bit of attention to their MP, since if it goes out their upb goes down the drain a bit along with their spells. I feel most Hero’s use their menu a bit too much, and never try to go into other options, unless its the usual Fair and Bair, they don’t try ti find combos, like how Upair can lead into some stuff.
@@medecko4394 optimal Hero gameplay is more difficult than a lot of people see. just one of the multiple reasons I enjoy playing Hero, since I like characters who have access to technical stuff and have a good variety of tools (I main Hero and Mega Man, secondary Snake)

Lucario is scary as hell.
I’m afraid to hit him because of Aura. When he is on his last stock with high damage, he turns into a blue nuclear bomb.

@Taelin Cusic Granted I don't think lucario is great either but when he's last stock, last hit and he starts camping/spamming neutral b its kind of annoying. Plus his roll is basically instant. Nonetheless, I wouldn't say he's underrated (he's still bad lol) but he is scary on last stock, last hit.

@Taelin Cusic The thing that gives me the most anxiety about fighting him is I don’t know if I am winning the match or the other person just doesn’t care about losing 2 stocks because they know once they get Aura going it’s gg’s.
When it comes down to their last stock, I just send Luma out to handle business and stay away from the Furry Doctor Manhattan.

I feel like Meta Knight is a lot more unoptimized and has more potential than mac. No disrespect towards Mac of course, but Peanut and Alternis aren't 3-0ing Chag like Yei did back in SWT CA RFs.
@Taelin Cusic That sounds like the evidence of him being underrated by at least this commenter. I don't know enough to say you're wrong but chances are he's better than "straight trash" so technically underrated by definition. In reality, it could be true to say, "he's fine but not worth using over either Jiggs or Pika", which is to say effectively trash but realistically decent. Idk, game is more balanced than we're used to discussing which makes things complicated.
You're correct even just looking at a MK match up chart you can see he is better then most people think. There is a lot more than just DA and ladder combos

Every pro player underrates the hell out of Marth. That is no cap, Larry Lurr is correct. Marth is underrated as hell.
I think Ken is kinda underrated, nobody really talks about him and vendetta is super good. He’s just one of those “touch of death” characters that can blow you up just by touching you

I was hoping for some Ridley talk. No character has punish game quite like Ridley. If you have a good read on someone they will die by whatever means you choose, no matter what percent or position on the stage. He’s also super fast, good at edge guarding, powerful, and has good combos. He just lacks weight and is large which scares everyone unfortunately. I’m biased though because he is my favorite character
Speaking of punish game, his up smash is ridiculous. It hits ALL of the bottom-level battlefield and small battlefield platforms, and the majority of the PS2 platforms. Smashville and Town and City also have a crazy amount of their platforms covered by one up smash. He doesn't even have to read you perfectly; if he remotely guesses what you're going to do at kill percent, and you AREN'T in a location out of his up-smash's range, you're just dead. Straight up. He's a swordie who is just worse because he's larger and doesn't have the amount of disjoints. If he was heavier and had disjoints on more moves, the man would be high tier, easily.
I feel like honestly mega man probably should have made the list considering players like kameme and he can just zone like crazy and be nearly untouchable against most characters

Honestly I believe Greninja is underrated popularity wise
He just plays super unique. No out of shield options and not being a zoner is probly weird for a lot of ppl. I tried picking him up as a pocket and while I actually think he's super good, I personally just couldn't click with him. But I love his design. He doesn't play like anyone else on the roster really.

I used to main him in smash 4. He was infinitly cooler back then, probably my favorite smash character ever. Still one of the sickest characters in ultimate, even though I hate playing as him. But hey at least he's better now.

I disagree with esam saying Rosa gets worse over time. I feel once players master her attack cancels and wavelands, but also play more aggressive, she will be noticed.
Rosa definitely needs more time to learn than the average fighter, i don´t think she´s bad just hard to play, and that makes her fall into the reason of "Why would I main this duet when i could be spamming Min Min´s fsmash".
@@albertonolasco9721 I understand the whole “Min Min only uses arms and nothing else” thing, but don’t underestimate every Min Min, usually she’s just downplayed with players only using her usual stuff to their advantages, and almost barely try to use her saucy combos. She has decent combos and a 0-to death, which I’m surprised most haven’t gotten into by now.
Terry is not underestimated in my opinion. He is solid character. The thing is that when you find a terry who can't play he only uses A and then powerdonk (often done with down B), but if you finds a person who knows how to play it, the B key becomes useless because all moves are replaced by the best versions with inputs.
the b button with command input is stronger than the a button with command inputs.

Only time I ever use the B button for Terry is power wave, which for some reason kill confirms into dash attack
Probably a bit biased but I think Mii Gunner is a little underrated. Grenade is INSANE on shield (+10) allowing for free grab and Homing Missiles have decent combo potential.
One of these days, poor Esam is gonna pass out from forgetting to breath during one of his rants
Marth is very underrated. It's just that nobody wants to take the time to develop him because Lucina's better and easier to use.

My favorite part of the video is listening to Wadi talk about Mewtwo’s tail never really getting hit with gameplay of Mewtwo’s tail getting hit over and over in the background

The Pits. They're good. Not great, but I'm sure they would do better if more people actually cared. It's just "why play the Pits when you can play a character that's better?" They just need more players. And for people to remember them. Also Corrin is constantly forgotten but pretty good.
Totally agree. They have basically no representation lately, but they have some stuff. Nair is busted and they've got some good combos. Gimping with Pit's arrows is one of my favorite things to do in the game.

For Corrin and the Pits, I don't think the issue is "Why play Corrin or the Pits when you can play a character that's better?", I think it's "Why Play Corrin or the Pits when you can play a character with more standout qualities?"
With pit it goes back to why play him when there is characters with similar tools but better e.g. palu he is too honest I say this as someone who mains palu and use to main d.pit

Robin is highly underrated. Most underrated champion in the game hands down. Not even a fire emblem fan. That character is just busted

He's too slow. Gets torn apart by explosive or fast characters and isn't a good enough zoner to even go even w/ other zoners. Most of his stuff is reactible or predictable
Robin is easily the worst resource-based character in the game simply because he/she cannot consistently replenish their greatest tools like Hero or Steve can, and also has the weakest tools to compensate for lackluster mobility, a big, but common weakness amongst these types of characters.
Yeah, at My locals there is a very good Robin, it's a good thing she stunk at teching walls so only had to hit her off the stage once before easily stage spiking her.
Inkling is underrated not because of being weak (They aren't) It's because nobody ever uses them, I fell like I'm one of the only Inkling mains
They are replaced by Mythra for a reason.

It's a good point but: Mix up attack timing (eg. Tomahawk jab or nair with/without fast falling), whiff punish, platform camp when ahead, B-reverse or wavebounce neutral B... Agreed that his options aren't all amazing but the point is that Yoshi's have a tendency to play with their hand face up which makes the counterplay more simple to execute.
I gotta disagree on egg throw it is telegraphed but in the first place I don't think it should be used as a straight projectile the same way wolf uses lazer its more used for combo extensions mix ups and coving landings and even as a combo starter i say this as I have a friend who mains yoshi and this is what I see him doing

@@Mr.Galaxxxxxxxxxxy You can also use eggs to pressure and follow up to force reactions.
Yoshi has a ton of air mobility, so if you are holding forward and throw an egg in front of you, you can force your opponent to react to the egg, and then punish that reaction. Maybe they shield and you grab, maybe they swat it and you whiff punish, maybe they get hit by it and you confirm, maybe they dodge and you frame trap. Lots of options.
Egg toss is definitely very good on yoshi due to his high air mobility and dangerous combo starters.
Honest to God top UR Characters:
-Isabelle (the TILTS are fantastic and are different from Villager)
-Ridley
-Sephiroth (will continue to rise on tier list)
Ridley is super underated. People act like he's bottom 10 or something but he's actually really solid. He has a fantastic neutral, good edge guarding tools, good range, good kills, a fantastic command grab, and he's pretty fast too, top 10 in ground run speed, and a good recovery too in MOST match ups (its not the best vs counters, but between side B and 3 jumps, he has enough mix ups where its usually not TOO bad)
The only real issues he has are he has a massive hurtbox while also not being super heavy for how large his hurtbox is. And he also have a not great disadvantage because his fasted get off me option is nair which is frame 8 so he has to rely a lot on air dodge which can easily be frame trapped due to his large size.
I personally think Ridley is a solid mid tier. Potentially even an upper-mid tier with more research and development. But he isnt anywhere close to low tier like many people seem to think he is.
I absolutely agree with bayonetta being underrated. is a character who suffers too much from what she used to be.
if we pretend that smash4 bayonetta does not exist, bayo now would be recognized as an excellent character.
one of the best combos in the entire game, her specials in the air are very difficult to challenge and completely nullifies a lot of characters.
it has some problems here and there but even high tiers do have flaws...
...I'm really scared that people will start to realize what a good character she can be.
The same applies to Cloud people highly underrated that character and I'm not saying this because of resent results. Cloud is stupid good.

9:35 wadi: i rarely get into situations where my tail gets hit, you wanna know why? because i am good...
9:56 wadi gets his tail hit by sephiroth down air. no wadi it's not because "you're good" you DO get your tail hit, you just don't notice it because you play big characters often, the tail gets hit all the time, in juggle situations, it causes you to get combo'd in situations where you should be getting combo'd, it isn't even really the fault of there being a tail hurtbox, it is slightly disjointed, it's more a problem of where mewtwo keeps his tail in his animations, when he turns around or runs away, it sticks straight out toward the enemy instead of stay right up on him, when he is in falling animation, he spins with it slightly extended past his body for all to hit, and during all his tail moves he extends a slightly disjointed move out to be hit by something that is more disjointed. anyway rant done
also most people i've talked to, have said and agreed he is in high tier, including myself, i don't think i've ever heard someone say mewtwo is bad o.o
Yeah, the tail sticking out makes him way worse, but you have to admit he looks awesome while doing it. A tail stuck to his back would look weird
@@linkonedgell894 eh it wouldn't look weird, tails are meant to be moved, i'm under the view that mewtwo could pull his tail in at least when he runs, there is no reason for him to let it hang loose lol, even my dogs don't do that with their tails.

@@Mattadork well like, think of ridley fair, the way he keeps his tail all coiled up instead of stretching all the way out make it look unnatural. Don't get me wrong for game play purposes it would definitely be best for him to hold it in but it would make him look a little awkward and closterphobic
DK is definitely underrated in the way that if more people were willing to use him more in Competitive bracket, the more people will see hes at least Mid Tier. Slushie got 24th at Glitch with him and I know more can do the same or better
I gotta say...after what I experienced the other day, Shulk is underrated as hell! Once you got the monado arts down and monado canceling, that character is scary to deal with
I don't necessarily think he's underrated. But instead under-used. He's like pokemon trainer. Absolutely insane in almost every way but the commitment it takes to optimize him to a competitive level is just as insane. Granted with the game being out as long as it has I'm surprised we haven't seen more in PGR.

Yoshi is definitely underrated, his tilts leads to combos and his ground pound on the ground can shatter shields.
Corrin for sure. I recently picked her up after watching MkLeo and Shadic and I’m liking her so far.
I know I'm rewatching this like 500 days later. But Bowser Jr. Is underrated and a great matchup check.
Banjo is underrated as hell
Personally I've always felt like lucas has potential to go even with ness, he's got so many good tools and great ledgetrapping and edgeguarding, a truly wonderful mu spread, meaning he's one of the few "low tiers" that doesn't lose every mu in the book.
Mega Man is hella underrated. He is the pinnacle of balance. Good but not broken projectiles, combos and recovery. For me, this is all I want
My biggest take would have to be corrin. She feels like worse byleth, but she has great conversions as her aerials link nicely with each other, uair frame traps, and side b closes out stocks at outrageous percents. Again, slow, but if you get those openings she can thrive
Yeah maybe if byleth was slightly faster, floatie and a pure swordie, i can kinda see the comparison. I still feel like at the end of the day theres too much of a difference tho
Idk. At a top level, she gets gimped so easily by way too many characters. Her back air is ridiculous though

@@gianz2066 not implying he's bad at it, but even with the small adjustments, corrins up b is pretty simple to edgeguard regardless. The head is very prone to getting stomped on, and trades often, which is never a benefit to corrin
Pit/Dark Pit Maybe? I mean I main those characters. I don't see any gameplay of them most of the time in tournaments, or see them talked about very often. I'd just love for them to have more recognition

Joker still plays Samus, he just doesn't compete as much anymore.
Remember when Ultimate came out and everyone just straight up put Sonic Mid/Low tier and now a lot of people put him in High/Top tier or even top 5?
That happened to a lot of characters. Sheik and Falcon were considered low mid tiers, Mii Brawler was practically irrelevant to the meta (just to name a few). Then with a mix of patches and people labbing the characters, they’re all in high tier, maybe in contention for top tier.
Ganon is the most underrated. People act like hes the worst but ganon has a 50/50 win rate against every character, because ganon kills the entire roster at like 50%, and all ut takes is one good read and one smash attack and your stock is gone

I think Mega Man is super underrated. Almost nobody plays him despite how good he is. Sure, there’s a few Japanese and European players but they don’t get the best results.

From what I've seen, people are downright hostile to these characters even existing in the game, and holy crap, WHERE did this come from? It can't be because they were considered low tier in Smash 4.
@@thevgmlover it's because they wasted the time and space for three separate characters on 1 idea no one really wanted. We could of had three unique video game reps that people have been requesting since melee and instead we wound up with them
@@tw1stymint They still could've filled the spaces with requested characters if they wanted. I truly think the Mii Characters deserve a much better reputation than that.
@@thevgmlover They didn't though and I wouldn't hate on the miis as much if it was just one character like only brawler or only swordsman but they used the time and energy for three characters on them instead of adding another game rep. It's the same reason why everyone hated byleth. Like is having three separate mii characters worth missing out on a character like hollow knight, dante, bandana dee, waluigi, midna, chun-li, or shy guy to name a few
@@thevgmlover Also I'm not trying to hate on the miis in particular I also hate that lucina, chrom, breath of the wild link, and greninja exist and I don't really like incineroar, robin, corron, byleth, rosalina, and bowser jr either. We already had enough fire emblem mario, and pokemon without them but at least those six have unique playstyles that didn't already exist. Link is on the list because there were already two links and zelda had so many different options to go for
Ness actually is kinda underrated
Mario and lucina are in the same pot .....DEFINITELY definitely definitely top tier....but you just don't see them any more
Shulk is 100% top tier but I assume he's kinda difficult to stay consistent with at top level
Jigglypuff and incineroar are seen as bottom tiers when there's good arguments to be made for them to be mid-ish
The conclusion I got from this is that there isn’t really any clear/significantly underrated characters, because they all seem good.
My vote is Megaman, but I’m no top player so I might be missing a lot. Shulk came to mind too but apparently people think he’s good? I wouldn’t be surprised if Shulk was overrated tbh, he’s weird like that.
A good format for this would be a political compass with the four axes being: overrated-underrated, and high tier-low tier

I think there are a ton of underrated characters. I think there are only about 25 to 30 characters mid tier and below. Jigglypuff is good, Bayo is good, Corrin is great, Lucas is great, Young Link is super top tier that character can do absolutely everything and do it well, Toon Link is good, Link is top tier, Ike is super close to top tier, Greninja is top tier, Sheik is top tier, oooo this one is probably by far the most disagreed with one but Falco is fucking incredible, Falco is as close to top tier as possible, Game & Watch is top 5, Chrom is top tier (i think most people agree but he is criminally underplayed), the pits overall aren't underrated but i do think Dark Pit is better, Robin is bottom of high tier, i used to main Robin and i have to say they are so good, side B, Levin sword and neutral B are so broken. There are some other slightly underrated characters but ive gone on long enough. I will answer any questions if i get the notification.

My main WiiFit is hella underrated. When I enter local tournaments I get laughed on for playing them. Until i show them what the character can do.
Corrin is pretty underrated I want to know what most people think in terms of robin being underrated because I think she is
Glad that the Panda guys think Puff, Incin, and Rosa are underrated cause I love playing them. I also tend to play Samus and the Miis every now and then (except I don’t really care for gunner as much as sword or brawler).
