It’s crazy how different this process can be for different women. The egg retrieval day for me was ok, soreness but otherwise manageable. But for the next week for me was excruciating!!! The bloating was unbearable, it hurt so bad going to the bathroom and I’m a week and a half out and feeling better, but with some mild pain. Waiting on my egg transfer as we are doing genetic testing and it take 10 days. From 16 eggs they retrieved, 13 matured, 11 were fertilizing but sadly it boy two made it to day 6 which the tested and are now frozen. This is just my experience. But it’s awesome to hear someone’s else’s experience. Best wishes to you and everyone going through this.

Each one of my egg retrievals were different however recovery was always better without general anesthesia. What I experienced is very similar to you, however the cramping, I only experienced with my last egg retrieval, which is the one that worked, I never experienced pain like that before, was very intense as I've rarely felt period cramps and thats what it felt like. With general anesthesia the recovery took longer, its considered surgery so u cant legally drive etc, the pain or cramping is slightly different but the difference was that each time u get put under you lose weight, procedure would take a full day, and so everytime it took me effort to gain weight back & over time that took its toll on my overall health. I would recommend being awake if u can and very strange i experienced no cramping until the last egg retrieval so far! Thanks again for sharing annie 💚 your persistance will make u a strong mother and both u and will, are going to be amazing parents💚
Thanks for sharing Katie!!! Your intel has helped me so much since the start of my journey and I appreciate really it ❤️It's interesting that you only experienced cramping in your last egg retrieval 😮I used to have horrible period pain from cramps but that stopped after highschool so going through this process takes me back to those feelings of period cramps. The fluctuation in weight is also something that a lot of people have said they go through. Dr Lok also said that due to my smaller frame, he wasn't able to adjust some of the medication so I had to gain weight through my cycles, if I had dropped weight from going under anesthesia I think it would definitely be a set back for me. Really glad I took the recommendation to not go under too ❤️❤️❤️

Hi, thank you for sharing this. I am going to do eggs retrieval tomorrow morning, did you get accupunture after eggs retrival and before eggs transfer too?.. i am wondering because i have accupunture booked on Saturday, and a bit worried if my ovaries still pretty sore at that time.

Acupuncture may also assist with side effects from fertility medication such as anxiety, hot flushes or difficulty sleeping

Thank you so much for sharing... The wife and I are going through the same process right now. Just had her egg retrieval this week and waiting for the scientist to contact us regarding to the update on the embryo results. Still don't know when will be the transfer date. But the nurse have informed us that 33 eggs were retrieved and 15 were fertilised. I know IVF success rates vary and there's a high chance that it might not be successful... This is her first cycle and the first time for both of us. If it turns out to be unsuccessful for implantation... How long do we have to wait until the next transfer? And will they use the remaining frozen embryos until we run out... Or she will have to start injecting her follicle stimulating hormones (Puregon) all over again for the next egg collection? Would really like to hear from your experiences... Thank you!!!
Praying that you have plenty of embryos that make it through to the Blastocyst stage for a transfer!! If you do transfer an embryo but it doesn't implant, your wife won't need to start another cycle of hormone injections if you have more embryos for another transfer. She may still need to do the trigger shot 24 hours before the transfer, but there's no need to start a new cycle if you have more embryos to work with 🙏 How soon you can do another embryo transfer will be up to the advice of your doctor since every situation varies. For us, I never had many embryos to work with so I would start a new cycle the following month. We haven't opted for gender testing because we would be happy with a healthy baby regardless of gender so unfortunately, I'm not the best person to offer advice on this subject. To get better answers, I would definitely recommend speaking to your specialist to get their professional opinion. I understand that for our cycles, due to the low number of eggs and embryos we also want to avoid doing too much testing and disruption to our embryos, but I can't speak on behalf of your situation because yours will be different from mine ❤️

Why did they start you on progesterone for the two week wait.
Probably to prevent her from developing a cyst in her ovaries. They did the same for me…
I believe the ovary produces progesterone for the first few weeks until the placenta takes over after that first few weeks, normally.
However the meds taken for ivf don’t allow the ovary to provide the progesterone so you have to take progesterone until the placenta can take over.

Hello, how was the transfer. Was it successful
God bless you soon
Thank you.
I am also thinking of going for ivf..but i want to do pgd for gender selection..does ivf do any harm to the embroy or the future born baby..plz reply
Thanks 🙏🏻

Many insurance plans won’t cover IVF, at least where I am in Canada. Mine definitely didn’t.
