Rich, your not letting us sneak or peek, your just a big tease! but as you asked I would like to see Graxpert integrated and a blur exterminator included, you do a fantastic job, I cannot wait.
GraXpert is definitely coming, unfortunately BX isn't because it would mean implementing the entire PixInsight plugin framework which is likely impossible as our internals are very different from theirs, and not something we're interested in doing anyway. But you'll be happy to know that GraXpert are releasing a deconvolution module (either already out or will be imminently) that is very competitive in terms of quality with BX.
Wow... Siril is really progressing! I recently purchased Pixinsight and all the RC Astro plug-ins. Maybe I should have waited. Thanks for your great video.
Wow, thats really nice. As a newcomer (got my telescope a little over a month ago) this really makes proccesing easy for me. Its hard for me to get a picture to look like what I want in photoshop, but siril its a whole other ballgame. I can now spend 30 min on a picture instead of hours in photoshop, and the result is even better than what I could have gotten in photoshop. Keep up the great work!
Great video! For me, my favorite new features that I've used: the curves transformation, the true drizzle, and the astrometric / mosaic stacking. I'm also a fan of the improved UI, and I think the improved scripts UI will be very helpful for a lot of people. I haven't tried out some of the other features you highlighted. I'll have to check them out!
Really excited to see these changes! I haven't used Siril as much over the last couple of years but I usually try to stay up to date with their dev branch mostly out of curiosity. How I wish these features existed a few years ago!
Thanks... as always, great video. And btw I sent them some money, they are doing a fantastic job with SIRIL. Spent a few hours on M42 last night, can't wait to use the new feature.
Looks like good things are coming. You are the master of Siril demos and it's much appreciated. A couple thoughts: I don't know how RUclips sorts or dates their videos, but (as a beginner) I have gotten confused as to which version video to watch, what sequence to watch it, etc.. I wonder if there is any way for you to organize what is current and what might be dated (playlists I guess). I think it would be great to have an overview vid (like this one), a basic workflow demo, specific object type demos (globs, galaxy, OSC, narrowband) and some deep drill downs into the tools and features showing what they are, what they do, why you want to use them and when to use them. Perhaps some about using other tools like the new Seti astro tools with a Siril workflow. Your time is finite and whatever you can add to our knowledge and efforts. I think just some clean up and organization would help us beginners get a better grip on the processes. Thanks for what you (and Siril) are doing.
I do have some playlists, and my beginner videos are tagged for the version they cover. Other videos do get into most of the functions. However, I understand what you're saying and appreciate the suggestions. I'll look into creating more play lists that may make more sense for everyone.
For the average joe like me siril is fantastic, pixinsight is very expensive and for the likes of average astrophotographer it is amazing.keep up the good work guys.
Looks fantastic and I am already dying to know more on how to use SIRIL better than before with all these new features. Mainly to know in which order we need to apply them. I can´t buy merchandise being in Spain and I don´t have a Paypal account (not to open one just to support you). Any possibility to make a bank transfer ? Let me know.
Thanks for this video! I’m interested to see if the mosaic plate solving will work with Seestar’s recent mosaic update…to manually stack the individual frames.
So I have a question. Do you stack all of your lights and bias of different time lengths together or separately? I’m trying to figure out a better work flow
Depurple is meant to be used on non-linear images, so after stretching. It can be used on the star mask, an image with just stars (cluster), or a combined image. It depends on which option is selected.
That looks like an amazing update, can’t wait, and thanks for the preview. Anyone know if the mosaic feature will help in stacking images from the new Seestar mosaic/framing mode? That would be most welcome.
Nice video... So did Siril devs send you a copy of the Dev build you used for the vidoe or did you use MSYS2 to compile it locally? I have tried to use MSYS2 and it will always fail to compile properlly. Any help with getting this for myself to try would be appericated... Thanks
Hey Rich, I have the Askar Colour Magic C1 and C2 filters (Ha+OIII, SII+OIII) and currently use a ZWO Seestar S50. I love the individual results I get from the filters, I am just unsure how to properly combine the photos to create the SHO "Hubble palette" I know that the data from each filter needs to be stacked separately, I am just unsure about the process of combining the Ha/OIII and the SII/OIII into one photo. I've been looking and asking around online with no luck yet. I know PixInsight has the "pixel math" feature that I keep seeing mentioned, but I am a user (and fan) of Siril. Any help / suggestions are greatly appreciated. Great video as always!
If you haven't seen this video, start here. ruclips.net/video/fDhOrKvM7GU/видео.html. I also have a couple others about adding Ha to galaxies and nebulae. The commands that pull out Ha are effectively just pulling out the red channel, so it would be the same for the SII, which is very close in the spectrum.
Hey. It's possible to access the BETA version of it? i seriously need it for my astrophotography project. i don't mind if it's buggy and barely working i just want to test it out.
I found photometric colour calibration malfunctioning in my Siril 1.2.4 (nothing helps, have no clue what to do, it worked perfectly before; and atrometry app didn't worked, I am not goid in compiling from source code) /Linux Mint 22, will it be ok in v. 1.4? Or, maybe new version somehow hooks up with Nova Astrometry site which makes plate solving fine online. P.S.: I also have another issue - when I try to preprocess sequence with Darks and Bias all I get by the end is black screen with a couple of toxic green dots where the stars should be. Is it ok or something is wrong with me or my Siril? Calibration frames made properly, according to all instructions I found in the internet, but result disappoints me.
@@lock042 well, I wrote what I have. Siril writes "Plate Solving Failed. Image could not be aligned with reference stars", picking up stars manually don't help. Focal length and pixel size are correct. No solution found.
I tried but can't install the beta. I tried downloading the 1.4 beta gitlab files and replaced the current version ones with them. Seems like you don't do it this way. How do I do it?
@@DeepSpaceAstro Well, now I understand the issue. Too bad, I wanted to try mosaics, I've had pretty bad luck as of rigt now for some reason. everything is the same , even camera position but my panels don't line up, not even manually. It's driving me crazy lately. I think I might be experiencing some tilt in my imaging train. I'm using a 10 inch newtonian with the stock skywatcher focuser so it might be idk. NAyways thank you for your answer
@ i am well aware how to annotate from loading in various databases but i have not found out how to add PGC. Even the new SetiAstro routine does not seem to offer this but i know it is in PI so i guess i miss this element somehow. Can you elaborate where in the manual? Thanks
When it's ready 😉 Seriously we hope not too much longer. We need to finish the mosaic blending and the python scripting but those are the last new features, once those are done we should be able to approach beta releases.
That's how to realize it's a hobby project w/out UX pros: "Needs platesolving first" w/out any quick access link to the platesolving function. Why does one build UI like this, in such a wonderful tool 😞
Well, you pretty much said it: we're a very small team and not UX pros. But we try to make things reasonably logical, and it seems weird to open one dialog only to click a link that takes you to a different dialog when you could just go to the two dialogs in the correct order in the first place. But if you're a UX expert and want to contribute to Siril I'm sure the input would be welcome.
lol if you think Siril’s UI makes it look like nothing more than a hobby project, I guess you must think that its $200+ competitor’s wacky UI means it’s a script kiddie’s late night high school cram session …
I just wish Siril had an easier way of stretching. Auto stretching is not nuanced enough. Repeatedly doing hyperbolic stretching gives better results but requires endless stretches of areas trying to extract detail and its just too laborious. Not to mention the fatal flaw in stretching where brightening a dark area affects the bright areas and so its easy to overexpose stars and bright nebula. I've tried fiddling with the sliders and being more targeted but it just always ends up overexposing bright areas no matter what I do. It shouldn''t be this hard. Looking forward to 1.4 in the hopes there is a better way of stretching.
AI features will be available via the GraXpert interface. Those guys do an amazing job with the AI side of things and it doesn't make sense for us to try to reimplement it from scratch, but we're proud to offer a convenient interface to their excellent tool.
It's great that we have a man on the inside to inform us about new SIRIL stuff 😁
Me trying to explain how excited I am for this to my gf as I’m watching your video is hysterical. Thanks for a great video, Rich!

Just donated- Siril is a great piece of software already, but these enhancements are really promising. Thanks for all your effort, Folks.
Thanks for giving us a preview! These look like terrific additions.

Where did you get the OSC script for doing Mosiac from as shown in the good video preview.
There's no script for mosaics. This is a development version I used just to show what will be in the next version.

Finalmente un po' di sostanziose novità
Thanks for this video! I’m interested to see if the mosaic plate solving will work with Seestar’s recent mosaic update…to manually stack the individual frames.
I don't see why not. ZWO is suppose to be sending me the new S30 so that's one of the things I'll be looking into.
Ohh hell yea!!
So I have a question. Do you stack all of your lights and bias of different time lengths together or separately? I’m trying to figure out a better work flow
