Been needin my SuperSonics back for too long, rootin for the Blazers is stressful af 💀💀
The arena the Seattle Sonics played in went through a major remodel when the NHL Seattle Kraken became an expansion team. The WNBA Seattle Storm also play in the remodeled area. So yes Seattle is ready for the expansion Seattle Sonics.
@@amazingeric97 true statement, went to the preseason game held in climate pledge before this season and it’s a beautiful arena, and most definitely one that can easily support an NBA franchise for decades
Being in and from Vancouver I know exactly what you mean bruh! 💀
Same I don't wanna do it anymore 💀
@@AkshaySingh-ef6wz like I love the blazers but damn I ain’t tryna drive 4+ hours jus to catch a game lmao
As someone who works at the Seattle arena, it’s definitely 2026
Detroit could definitely be a potential location for an expansion team, they haven't had a team there in quite some time.
The shade 😭😭😭
Pistons
Thats the joke is that theyre so shit theres no team lol
Lol I live in northern Michigan I feel this every time I drive 5 hours south to watch the pistons play at little Caesars arena
@@NathanButNett 👍
I wish we didn’t have to have 2 teams in LA & NY, we could have teams in Seattle, Nashville, Vegas & Mexico City for the price of 2 new teams & 2 relocations.
Wish the Clippers stayed in San Diego
They probably have 2 teams because if a star wants to live in NY but the knicks are rebuilding and dont want a star, theyll go to the nets
*If you're going to do 32 teams, even out the schedule to 76 games with 4 divisions in 2 conferences: 28 games against teams in your division, 16 games against teams in the other division of the same conference, and 32 games against teams in the other conference. And, I would have the two expansion teams play against each other in the first 2 games, if in different divisions or conferences, or 4 games, if in the same division of their inaugural seasons.*
Actually, only one team would need to move to the Eastern Conference. That would put both at 16 teams, which I assume is what the NBA wants. Memphis makes the most sense from a strictly geographical perspective, but Minnesota makes more sense when it comes to travel and logistics. Minnesota is way closer to Central Division teams like Milwaukee and Chicago than it is any Northwest Division teams, like Portland and OKC for the most extreme examples. IIRC Minnesota actually travels more miles than any other NBA team because it's so isolated from the rest of the Northwest Division.
I thought thats what i said by moving Memphis. I just gave New Orleans and Minnesota as other options
Kansas City would be a great NBA market if they do get an NBA team they can be in the eastern conference with Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee, Indiana and Cleveland
The T wolves would probably move to the east and KC would be the west
Kansas city St.Louis Pittsburgh Should get an NBA franchise
You do know the Kings were once on Kansas City before the team moved to Sacramento. The Hawks were once in St Louis before the team moved to Atlanta.
Talked about that in my nba team name origin video
@@NathanButNett both KC & STL eastern conference team based on connection with Chi, Minny, DET
Moving New Orleans and Minnesota to the eastern conference while adding two expansion teams that are (likely) to be ass for their first few years would actually be pretty good for rebalancing the conferences, at least if it were to happen this year... and that wouldn't factor in the expansion draft either, i suppose...
memphis or NOLA should be moved before anyone else imo
@@davisfromthehills7521 I'd agree with that
More likely be Memphis or Minnesota...
When it comes to who moves out East, that’ll be only one team so it would be 16 teams per conference. I can see a scenario where New Orleans moves out East, it makes too much sense to be anybody else. However, there will be division realignments and this is what I propose the realignment would look like.
Eastern Conference
Atlantic Division:
Boston Celtics
Philadelphia 76ers
Brooklyn Nets
New York Knicks
Toronto Raptors
Washington Wizards
Central Division:
Milwaukee Bucks
Indiana Pacers
Cleveland Cavaliers
Chicago Bulls
Detroit Pistons
Southeast Division:
New Orleans Pelicans
Atlanta Hawks
Miami Heat
Orlando Magic
Charlotte Hornets
Western Conference
Northwest Division:
Seattle SuperSonics
Denver Nuggets
Minnesota Timberwolves
Portland Trail Blazers
Utah Jazz
Pacific Division:
Los Angeles Lakers
Los Angeles Clippers
Sacramento Kings
Golden State Warriors
Las Vegas Spades (that’s the one I would pick at least for a team name)
Southwest Division:
Memphis Grizzlies
Phoenix Suns
San Antonio Spurs
Dallas Mavericks
Houston Rockets
Oklahoma City Thunder
Pittsburgh, Montreal, San Diego, Vancouver and Louisville have also been mentioned for getting a NBA team.
True but Vegas and Seattle are the obvious choices
@@NathanButNett probably but we'll see otherwise
@@dreamcage1801personally i would prefer Louisville over Vegas but I can’t see the NBA picking any other cities besides Seattle and Vegas in this round for expansion.
@@squidMB Pittsburgh might be the 3rd city to get a NBA team
@dreamcage1801 Pittsburgh fans love their Pirates Penguins & definitely the Steelers but 1 thing they're really definitely missing an NBA TEAM
Only 1 team would move east, not two. So then it’d be 16 on each side. And Memphis & New Orleans are geographically and culturally closer to other western teams. Memphis appeals to Mississippi and Arkansas more than Tennessee and Georgia
Seattle & Las Vegas r definitely locks 4 an expansion franchise
Every made up expansion video I see always tries to load up the Vegas team more than the Sonics
I mean i did a poll on which team is better and it was 79%-21 Sonics so idk what to tell u
NBA can just have so much expansion team like Vegas, Seattle, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Mexico City & so much more all around the world!🌍🌍🌍🌍🌍🌍🏟🏟🏟🏟🏟🏟🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
If you add 2 teams out west, only Memphis could move east since it would be an imbalance.
As long as the public isn’t asked to pay for these billion dollar stadiums, of these billion dollars owners. If the local governments want to hold bonds reformations, then fine. Owner hold cities hostage, then move if they don’t get everything they want.
With expansion, I can’t see the NBA wanting to wait possibly 3-4 years to add new teams. Lord knows they probably have most things already planned out, just have to wait for the media rights deal to be renewed (can’t see them taking until the end of the 2024/2025 season to negotiate) and then by either this offseason or the next all star break they announce the expansion process. The NBA knowing that each expansion team will be 3-5 billion dollars each, they will want this to happen as quick as possible.
I agree they want it as soon as possible but theres still plenty of paperwork that needs to be done as i explained so i think itll be 2027-2028 since media rights end 2025 anyway
@@NathanButNettim pretty sure for the media rights deal, just because it expires at the end of the 2025 season doesn’t mean they can get a new deal done way sooner. IIRC they did the same thing for the recent CBA. I got them starting the 2025/26 season if everything happens early, but probably the 2026/2027 season if they want to be comfortable with making sure everything is ironed out. Also only one team would need to be relocated to the eastern conference
The last expansion team was the Charlotte Bobcats. New Orleans Pelicans are the old Charlotte Hornets. You cant change past just because the Charlotte Bobcats got the old Charlotte Hornets history. Also Minnesota makes the most sense to move to the east because they are located far away from the other teams in their division. Their natural rivals are Milwaukee and Chicago not Portland or Utah. Memphis and New Orleans are in the same time zone as the Texas teams. So its make sense to keep them in the same division.
Minnesota T-Wolves need to move to the East. Their closest 3 teams are Bucks, Bulls, and Pacers, all East teams. Even the Pistons and maybe the Cavs are closer to the Wolves than the Grizzlies and the Nuggets. Yes, New Orleans and Memphis are farther east than Minneapolis, but they're close to each other and to the Texas teams and the OKC Thunder. The Wolves are the most logical choice to move to the East.
Can St. Louis possibly get a NBA team if they don’t expand to Kansas City in the state of Missouri?
I definitely see them taking KC over SL tbh
When is the earliest an expansion city could be announced?
if those expansion draft teams legit happened, either one of those could legit win the NBA title in year one
Exactly
Vegas will likely get a team via relocation. Probably NOP
Seattle and Vancouver are gonna be next for expansion.
I dont think NOP will relocate soon but i agree with Seattle and Vancouver
NOP has an arena issue they have to tackle. The arena only holds 15K and is severely outdated plus the teams lease is up in 2 years with no current talks of being extended. I hope they stay in NO just saying g there’s some obstacles the team has to overcome over the next few years.
@jaydurant3048 so did the spurs for years, and they figured it out. Again it takes voting and politics like stated in the vid
Would like to see a team in St. Louis or Louisville
4 divisions of 8 or 8 divisions of 4. This makes 0 sense
West Conference
west- SEA POR GSW PHX LAL LAC LVS SAC
Midwest/plains - UTA OKC DAL DEN HOU MEM NOP SAS
Eastern Conference
atlantic - MIN MIL CHI IND DET CLE TOR WAS
East - BOS NYK BKN PHI ATL CHA MIA ORL
increase the importance of the regular season- winners of the division get the 1 and 2 seeds then go by win-loss record. play in for the last two spots 7 and 8. The number 1 seed goes to the team with the best record if tied to the best head-to-head record in the regular season.
How can the Knicks protect Quickley when he was part of the OG Anunoby trade, who you also have on their protect list. Liked the video though.
I appreciate you liking. Yeah that was a slight slipup but again these rosters are gonna change over the years the next 3 years anyway so half of these players wont be on their current teams anyway
