How many hoops do you need to jump through? Anything to avoid paying out, I crashed in water just a few days ago and the drone is dead. No refresh plan either, I was gutted but I managed to talk my way in to a free replacement!
@@waynep613 how did you manage to convince the retailer to replace it for you? I crashed mine in the water a few days ago & lost it. don't have the refresh plan either :\
@@ZammyMustaq If the drone was lost then you have no chance. I was able to retrieve the drone and told the retailer about the error codes showing on screen, I just forgot to mention it had been fully submerged in water for 30-40 seconds!
Hello, I just want to ask. I bought my dji mini 2 weeks ago. And at the same time the dji care but I haven't received it yet Is it true that I need to register first my dji care before I'm able to fly my drone? Thanks
Thanks for this video. DJI does everything to make this process as well as all other support options as difficult as they possibly can. Doing so they simply trying to get away from helping DJI products owners in case of damage or other problems. Their support and customer care is extremly bad and needs great improvements. The company politic seems to be pointed to not helping just confusing their customers. Be careful and aware DJI drone pilots. Good luck
Thanks for this video! I am setting up my brand new Mini 2 right now. With this being my 5th drone (so far- 1 flyaway, 2 total write off & 1 repaired after a minor crash) I'm very keen to keep this one intact, or at least covered. (Actually only 1 total write off- I did manage to own and not destroy a Ryze Tello!).
The one confusing thing for me is the screen is poorly laid out for this info, and while it changes to 'unbind' and such in my mind it doesn't make it clear that its set up and you are good to go. BTW I have a Mini 3 pro and just got the Care Refresh plan for 2 years.
Strange comment. Far more drones would be lost due to operator error. There are plenty of videos on RUclips of drones being lost due to being flown too far out to sea for instance DOWNWIND, then being unable to return. At least DJI offers some coverage against it. I'd suggest the very fact they offer insurance at all would indicate confidence, rather than the opposite.
Yes I am using the iOS app. That is strange though... they have introduced a policy that Android users can't benefit from? Hopefully that will be fixed in an update asap!
Worked perfectly with my Android phone (Samsung A70).......just needed to agree to the pop-up message that appeared on my DJI Fly App, it then ran through the whole procedure automatically.......I do have the care refresh package.
@@SimonsDrones I just went to service.dji.com/djicare/inquiry and put in my mini2s serial number ( on the blade guard and inside the battery door ) and my drone IS already linked to my plan. So perhaps Android users dont need to do anything. I am running the Nov 2020 Android App release.
Sure, if it's cheaper. I purchased it seperate with my Mini 2 and it works the same way, you just have to bind it to your aircraft and controller in the app.
For me, by agreeing to the DJI fly-away message that pops-up on the home screen of the DJI Fly App, it went through both of the activation stages automatically.
I still think it’s expensive, especially compared to 3rd party insurance I have covering my drones. Plus it’s been noted that people have been charged taxes when getting their drones back from DJI as they go to Holland and we are no longer in the EU. So it will be quite an expensive process getting your drone back via this avenue.

I'm guessing that in the event that you've in some way modified your Mini 2 which increases the weight (motor covers, lights, wraps, leg extenders etc.) for example, this cover will be void. The flight data will show that the drone is heavier than the factory spec. Better go for another type of cover I think, which is more flexible in terms of weight.
How do you know if this is completed coz I got the DJI care prompt in the fly app and bought it but I do t see and device management or controller binding settings in the fly app
@@SimonsDrones I went and spoke to the dji help chat people and realised I didn't have the latest version of the app all sorted now phew😅 I've had this drone since Friday and it's been crap weather in Essex but oh my god this little thing is so capable I'm in shock of what we have on our hands with is drone worth every penny I can't wait for better flying conditions
I'm just looking at getting the mini 2 when lockdown end, and obviously care refresh. The problem I have is knowing which phone, iphone or android I should get, best value and compatibility. I don't mind buying new as it seems, especially for iphones, they are pretty expensive even used on ebay, and I reckon a warranty is worth the extra, nearly double the price, but at least then I can get half the price back when I sell it further down the line. Hope you can advise, thanks :)
I recently had an accident with my mini 2 and I did not have the care refresh and the DJI service charged me 330 dollars to repair it, how much would they charge me if I had the care refresh?
You have to do it within 48 hours of activation but you still after this but you have to jump through a few hoops with videos and other information proving the drone is still in good working order.
Just stumbled across this video, i was unaware of the binding situation to enablea claim. Very good advice, Mini 2 now bound and replacement service available. Thanks very much

Thanks for your video. Ive got aMini 2 in transit to me, arriving next Wednesday hopefully. I also purchased the 2year plan and DJI started it on the 4th of February. I don’t even have the drone yet not until the 10th of February. I’ve been in touch with DJI today ( 5th ) and they tell me that it will be extended. I’ve had a Mavic Pro for 3 years now, I think in total I’ve made about 5 claims including both drones and controllers, so far I’ve never had problem, but as you quite rightly say, you need to read ALL the instructions. Keep the vids coming.

By the way my controller was bound at the same time when I bound the drone.. When I went on the menu to bind the controller it was already Bound... Sweet Keep well and be safe! 😁🇧🇬🛸
its probably drone + new battery. and later if someone finds and returns your drone(i have number written on drone) can send your drone back and get additional drone for 50. thank you.
Thank you for the video, I do not have the option to bind my drone to my account, the part is missing somehow. Purchased the refresh on the store for the drone sn, lets see if it shows up next week

This is win-win situation for DJI, they get 50€/£/$ from everybody, and they charge for replacement drone more than it costs them to make it.

@@SimonsDrones Well it wasn't DJI who replaced it, it was the retailer. DJI would insist on an inspection and definitely would not replace it.

I am guessing this is on an Apple set up as the Android version I have at the moment does not have these options available.

What version of the Fly app are you running? I do believe Device Management is now present in the latest version for both iOS and Android.

So if I didn’t purchase the DJI care when I first bought it I can now purchase it still.
You would have to check with DJI, but I think you have 48 hours after activating the drone to add the Care Refresh service.

I have not heard that you can do this, though I only have one drone myself so I can't say for certain.

Make sure you are using the latest version of the Fly app, which right now is 1.3.0.
