- I recently installed a gooseneck hitch on my 2008 Ford F450, so we wanted to test it out and see how it performed.

Enjoy!
Truck and trailer lookn good together
Best hitch on the market with the B&W.
I use one with the Companion to tow my fifth wheel.
You cold with the backing
That brand new gooseneck ball was screaming for some lubrication(grease).
We had the receiver on the trailer packed with grease, it provided plenty of lubrication so the ball wouldn't wear out.
The 6.4 is a ticking time bomb! Its crucial to keep up on maintenance and absolutely crucial to get rid of the dpf! Regen mode is a total killer for this engine. I have a buddy with an 08 SRW F350 with the 6.4. He deleted it when it was near new, pulls concrete form trailers daily. It's been a really good truck for him. But when that motor blows, the only sensible option is to go with a ford factory reman engine. My cost on the complete engine kit was $17k! I hope you got a screamin deal on yours. But great trucks when they're running good.
I see the Factory Push Bar on the Tailgate for when it Breaks Down. 🤣🤣🤣
Coming from England I have never seen that. Interesting thing
Glad you enjoyed it
seen what? a gooseneck trailer? Its basically just like a semi trailer that you have over there with a different neck/hitch to arch over the bed rails on a pickup. You don't have them because they don't sell capable enough pickups over there to warrant it. They probably will eventually.
@@cheese-je9xs No, they probably won't. They don't produce large trucks because the streets are tiny and the taxes on large vehicles are high. Unless you're a commercial carrier, it's not likely that you'll be able to own a gooseneck in England.
@@allenklingsporn6993 you actually can but we are limited to lower towing weights of 3.5 ton and above that requires air brakes
Really nice truck. I just purchased that same truck myself. 2008 with 50k. I've heard so much bad about them but I don't care because I as well as my family loves the truck. Bought it for camping and horses. I planned on the exact same bed modifications as well as the 5th wheel. You are quite right about the ride as I had to explain to the rest of the family. Glad to see your tow. I love the interior on these as well as the man step. Its my first diesel. Any tips on maintenance.
Don't push the truck too hard and do LOTS of oil changes. Look into a DPF/EGR delete if you can swing it. (I have a video about it).. Check fluids all the time as well.
Dont overload your truck or trailers like danger industry name says it all. Towing a trailer is not dangerous if you know how to properly use your equipment.
What did you set your break setting too for the trailer? 6.5 or 7.5
Looks great! I've just got a B&W gooseneck hitch put into my Ram 3500. Really excited about getting my first gooseneck trailer to haul car. Sadly, without my CDL, I can't get something that big, (my trailer on order GVW 14,000#), but maybe one day! 😃
Love B&W hitch
To be honest i would be very weary of the truck as im assuming its the 6.4 powerstroke. those motors are very noutourious for causing major issues within 300,000 miles or earlier. but with that being said as long as you take care of it you should be fine and really jump on it when it gets into regen mode
tyler boyer isn’t it a 6.7?
Delete it and run a mild tune then most of your problems are solved
How brake this trailer? With an air system? Or over the brakes from the truck?
Does you truck need air suspension upgrade while towing heavier trailer
Bad Boy, you blew thru a stop sign
Aside from the truck being a 6.4 l 🤒 great vid nonetheless
The breakaway ties off to the same hooks you hook the safety chains too
Not on a gooseneck. It is placed elsewhere in case the loops for the chains break.
Nice truck dude..!
No trailer brakes or taillight hookup? Crazy!
Guess every state is different but our breakaway has to be separated from the chain. Has to have a separate hook
Omg they turned farming simulator into real life!
Dum ass
Juan I think it's still in development
Juan I think it’s early access for people who donated on patreon
Do you grease the ball?
The inside of the trailer hitch was well greased up, and since the ball was brand new at the time of this filming it was clean before it was hooked up
I have an F450 with a 16-foot flatbed and I'm trying to figure out how far back can I get away with mounting my ball for my gooseneck what is the rule of thumb
how weight you can pull with this trailer?
That's pretty good worked very nice what is the length of your trailer? and will you carry other stuff than tractors on it? Thank you for sharing.
Youre a beast bro
Nice man i love it!!
In the Netherlands we dont have these kind of trailers so its awesome to see one!
One question tho, does the trailer have any breaks? And if the trailer has, how are they operated?
Nigel van der vliet
I’m pretty sure it has airbrakes. And they can be controlled inside of the truck.
Nigel van der vliet These have electromagnetic brakes, which are controlled from the truck’s brake lights through a computer box. Some also have electric pumps that run hydraulic fluid to a set of disks in the trailer. -Former Big Tex Trailers Lot Technician
Hey I have a 2015 F450 and it's a pain finding tires because of the 19.5 rims and your tires look good what brand are they?
Goodyear tires. Looks like G622 RSD to be specific
Kelly armorsteel tires are good. I have them in 19.5 on my Chevy 4500
Always make sure that it has lubricates
looking to buy a 2018 ford f450 limited edition super duty what do you think of your year f450 do you like it
2 totally different trucks. 6.7 Ford every day of the week over a 6.4!
how are you liking the 6.4l?
It has been a good truck, just a bit costly. I had a few repairs that cost quite a bit
Grant Barnes well that's with any diesel though, nice set up by the way
@@GrantBarnes such as? Genuinely curious
Watch that 6.4L, motor blew at 42K miles, Ford replaced, blew again at 66K. Got rid of the POS. FYI, connect your emergency brake line to the same loop you connect your chain too. DOT sees it, they will nab you. Trust me, been there.
derk238 6.4 PS is a pretty good engine with maintenance
dedreman 22 you are kidding right? It is a throw away diesel, that is highly unlikely to make 150k miles before blowing an injection pump ,turbos, and if you don’t delete it it will break the egr cooler and hydro lock the engine bending a rod ...even if none of that happens which isn’t likely it’ll start popping thru the intake and need heads and rockers by 200k because international cut corners on the valve guides...don’t buy one it will break you ,get an older 6.0 truck and have it bulletproofed or a newer 6.7 which is way better and Ford had figured out the emissions by then.
@@JohnDiMartino The 6.4 isn't any worse than the 6.0. A lot of 6.0 owners felt the way you feel about the 6.4, but like you say, once you bulletproof them, they're pretty decent runners. The same is true for 6.4's. All of the problems you mentioned have well-known and proven solutions.
John DiMartino my 6.4 got 234,780 miles
How did the truck ride with a load on it, don't look like it squatted much while loaded, how about some lessons on backing.
Just recently posted a video on how to back up a trailer, check it out if you want
How many feet is your trailer?
30 ft deck (25 ft flat, 5 ft tail). About 42 feet total trailer length including everything
Ford and big Tex best cambo
What brand of gooseneck hitch is that?
It is a B&W turnover ball hitch
What tires are you running on your F450?
Running? Why do you morons use the running word...using is the correct word
you'd be startled with how much weight these pickup drivers put on those f450s ...not as nice as yours hell most of the time it's a flatbed or no bed at all just the fifth wheel and whatever it's called that covers the top of the drives
What year is it
The truck is a 2008 and the trailer is a 2015 I believe. Not positive on the year of the trailer, it is my dads, not mine
Oh nice
that's one sexy truck
Hey if you were smart you would The breakaway cable to the chainand then the chain to your eyelids
Actually he ran the breakaway cable the proper way. By running the cable to one of the corner bed tie downs, it shortens the slack in the cable, If there were to be an accident and the trailer was to become unhooked, this would mean less slack in the cable to be used up by the truck pulling away from the trailer before the brakes on the trailer would be activated.
Come talk when you can back up a 53 ft semi.
I agree 53 footers are a little more difficult. Now you can say your good when you can back a set of doubles, or a single on a turntable connected to a bobtail. I do both everyday of the week with hay on the doubles and sometimes on the turntable trailer.
That salt has not been kind to the truck over the years!!
6.6 liter duramax boys
That's nothing for a f450
Delete the truck
Dame ford need a chevy
You as a opertor you safely chains should have cross each other not hanging up and down if your trailer ever broke loose your safely chains would save your trailer from getting of your truck so just remenber to cross your chains its the law to do that not the way you had them
@@lyonneboss1694 Honestly the chains are a joke. If you break a goose neck coupler or ball you have a hell of a lot more worries than just chains which won't do a bit of good. That's why class 8 trucks don't use them, LOL could you imagine a semi having safety chains. They would be huge.
lyonne Boss you only cross the chains on a bumper pull as that’s to catch the tongue. What is crossing the chains on a gooseneck going to catch?
