+Lisa Shampine ? lol you can't be serious. The U.S. has invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. Syria is most likely next. The very same people that tell us we should fear muslim extremists are the same people that gave them CIA expert training. It was our own government all along. Our own government sold and allowed guns to be transported to cartels down in Mexico. wake up. our own government is behind most if not all these attacks.

Interesting how my original message vanished.
The Canadian government sent troops to Vietnam in August 1954 during the partition of Vietnam.
They stayed through January 1973 and incurred casualties and deaths. This is extensively documented by the International Control Commission.
Canada awarded medals to 1,550 troops for their service between August 7, 1954 and January 28, 1973, and 240 Canadian troops who participated in Operation Gallant in Vietnam from Jan. 28 to July 31, 1973.

There were limited authorities to handel the situation and they came late, REAL late. Like 3 days late. The local gov is partialy to blame, but there is NO excuse for the innaction on the part of this administration and it's appointees. Blame the local's all you want, it still took 3 days for the federal gov to do anything after they promised immediae rescue.

The riots began after days of desperation. Seeing dead family members floating in the filthy water, communities destroyed, and the crawling pace of the governmenrt. Those people sitting on their thumbs as you put it, were stranded on roofs and highways. There was little order because the national gaurd had been deployed to Iraq.
The fact of the matter is, the federal gov SHOULD have done more cause they have more resources at their dispposal.

@ColtraneTaylor I don't know if Presidents are selected but I do think they only let people in to the political partys that will not rock the boat too much. Both partys are pretty much the same even though they love to talk about how they hate each other. You don't get to be president unless "they" want you to.

A recent in-depth study found that:
    1. Conservatives give more of their money to charity (even though liberal households on average earn 6% more).
    2. Conservatives volunteer more of their time in their communities.
    3. Conservatives even donate blood at 5 times the rate as liberals.
And all this time you've prided yourself on being kinder and more charitable than conservatives...kinder in words, not actions. How ya like dem apples? Jerry's Dead, Phish Sucks, Get a Job. Peace.

Nobody is saying they should have taken direct action (i.e. "shut down all flights"). Of course there wasn't sufficient information to take a direct action against what was going to happen several months later, but there was sufficient information to launch more investigations and eventually figure out those preventative actions.

@zaurtrien I'm not saying racial profilling is allways right or good. But I would rather be safe than have security not focus on people that could be a danger just in the name of sensitivity. The promoting of racism is peoples own fault and a result of their fellings.

their two party system or the Federal Reserve monopoly or other institutions above the law. Most may disagree but I think presidents are selected and I think the CIA, FBI and other assasination teams have greater say most citizens. The difference between Mexico/any 3rd world country and the US is that the criminals in the US are all high level, almost unseen and untouchable. In Mexico the criminals are less sophisticated and they settle into the bureucracy so basic govt is corrupt and inefficie

  • @ColtraneTaylor

@aqinthe I'm sure the immigration prob is serious. However I think all immigrants traditionally were mainly looking out for themselves. The Irish or even original English didn't set out thinking that they had to make a foreign land great. They were focused on escaping poverty and persecution. This thing about the American dream is an ideal, and it sometimes attracts people who want something bigger than themselves. But there's always been an anti-immigrant attitude, which is again self-interest

@aqinthe I agree that illegal immigration is probably unfair. However, I don't know about most Americans but I've seen enough people that like to complain (don't mean yourself) but would never take up those jobs themselves and not because of low pay either. I mean in the US or UK or elsewhere for that matter. As for making Mexico better. This is how I see it. The corruption is so entrenched its beyond the average citizens efforts. It's like asking US citizens to do something about ... cont'd.

  • @thenewvoice8

She asks what bush could have done - well, perhaps launch some fighter jets in air defence? 90 mins between first hi jack and the pentagon being hit - 15 miles from the pentagon to andrews air force base - jets fly that in a few seconds.
She talks a lot and says nothing that can't be refuted within a second.
I do not think Franken was beaten here, she just did the standard - make noise, make it loud and drown out the truth with lies and more noise

@EchoMike03 When it comes to foreign policy I'm on the fence. I wanna help other people, but I'm sick of us building schools and doing good only for it to be blown up the next day. I'm ok with helping our allies when they need it, and even with stopping dictators if they seem to be a threat, I think Bush did the right thing going into Iraq because he heard Saddam going against the treaty we signed after the first gulf war, but I think we've got it taken care of at this point.

The dems pushed Reagan to raise corp taxes and increase govt spending to stimulate economic recovery. Regan's 2nd term polices led to another recession which bottomed in GH Bush . For some reason since Bush I's second term, Regan is now an iconic figure. Perhaps to rationalize Bush's failures.

Plus, and I feel silly stating this to you because it's so obvious, but radiation exposure often leads to the development of cancer and death years in the future. Lots of people living in Southern Utah had the pleasure of "minimal" radiation exposure and cancer deaths decades after above-ground nuclear testing here in Southern Nevada in the 1950s and 1960s. There, I've done my homework.
