    The best part of this video, for me, is after Franken reads the quote from the New York Times piece. That moment when they cut to her face, it's amazing. It's literally one of the best things I've ever seen. Why? Because I know that look. It's the same look that I have whenever I've been caught lying to my mother.

      She was right. That is essentially what Thomas Freedman was saying.
      Liberals like to pretend that all religious groups are rife with their own variety of nut jobs. It’s not the case, by and large. I suppose you could find nut jobs in ANY group of people, but there are certain faiths wherein the lunacy and fanaticism are quite a bit more prevalent, and thus pose a greater risk to public safety.
      Let’s not play games here. She’s right. The Amish have been quiet lately.

    She just proved with here body language that she was caught in a lie. It wasn't paraphrasing, it was changing the quote to fit your narrative.

      absolutely

    • @damianfragapane3595
      @damianfragapane3595 7 лет назад +6

      Regardless of her body language, her use of the quote was accurate. Freidman wrote that "no religious fundamentalist of any stripe would be caught dead flying nude". Therefore, who, according to him, are the terrorists? Religious fundamentalists of any stripe. Which is exactly what Coulter said in her book. Her body language was probably her realising that the audience would easily be misled by Franken.

    • @damianfragapane3595
      @damianfragapane3595 7 лет назад +1

      Bob Wilson, she didn't say that Friedman blamed the terrorist acts on religious fundamentalists of any stripe? I can read, including your insults. They don't lend you any credibility.

      @@damianfragapane3595he used weasel language. He implied that terrorism was evenly spread amongst those with extreme ideologies, whatever that’s supposed to mean. It’s not. The overwhelming share is coming from one group. And she’s clearly right about where to look. This makes the Kerry comparison valid as well. At a certain point it becomes a description of the suspect, to paraphrase Coulter. Btw, whatever happed to Franken? Lol

    After watching this clip I decided that I wanted to know more about Ann. So, I watched several of her interviews, debates and read many of her articles. What I found is that Ann absolutely has a goal. Which, is to sell books. She has mastered the art of shock and awe! She keeps all on their heels, she wants all the control and mainly to have the opportunity to make her shocking comments which help her stay in the media because, remember "there no bad press". That is her formula to success; shock + more time in the public eye = more books sold. furthermore, I did noticed a couple things about Ann's persona and that is she A). avoids answering questions to escape from embarrassment (since she has no clue what they are asking her), B). She is actually a weak person " Complains more than others, Do not take opinion of others, tend to be overly dramatic" and C). Ann Lie's.... "Still part of the equation"
    So in closing. I was very confused at first as I watched the video, to much commotion and then after researching and understanding Ann. I can say with certainty; she was afraid of AL! That's why she was so uncontrollable and uncomfortable like a bitch i.e. "female dog" cornered with no way out. I say please do not buy her books, remember that's what she wants and do not waste your precious time in Ann, turn the page and let's all move on!!!

    • @damianfragapane3595
      @damianfragapane3595 7 лет назад

      Franken didn't destroy her credibility; he didn't understand what the author of the article said. The author of the article said that "no religious fundamentalist of any stripe would be caught dead flying nude". So who is he referring to as the terrorists? Religious fundamentalists. That's obvious. And that's exactly what Coulter says. Franken seems to focus on the sarcastic tone of the article while missing the fact that the author clearly points to religious fundamentalists as the terrorists. Either that or he's deliberately being deceptive and underhanded.

The part about flying naked being tongue-in-cheek has no bearing on the fact that the author referred to them as "religious fundamentalists of any stripe" instead of, "Muslim extremists." Why not say, "no Muslim extremists would fly naked?" It would still be tongue-in-cheek. The subtext of him changing it to "religious extremists of any stripe" is exactly what Ann said - that it's not a Muslim thing, but an every religion thing.

    People can do research and ALSO have "real world" experience. In fact sometimes they CHOOSE research because of it. As a person who changed jobs, had a 30 day lapse in insurance, and through "luck" broke my ankle on that last day - I got to experience months of unpaid rehab, unemployment, medical bankruptcy, and nearly dying, to come back to a pre-existing condition and a job I could barely do. Eventually the poor health care led to a permanent disability, and that was after insurance.

    In all honesty, you used the quote with Sweden's government and their insolvency. Yet you ignore that per capita Americans pay many times the amount that Swedes pay for their health care -- how does that add up in your mind if cost is the problem? If bureaucracy is, how does it add up to you the amount of paperwork and money that goes to insurance companies and medicaid (which is not single payer and is means tested), when single payer insurance has almost none by comparison?

  • @jarethashaer

    I'm not really trolling so much as I honestly can't piece together what you're trying to say. "and she knows it, lol, and you idiots dont?" So are you saying we're the idiots for not seeing Ann Coulter's "clever" butchering of someone's article in order to quote them saying something they really didn't? I honestly don't think he was saying what she forced his article to say.

  • @jarethashaer
    @jarethashaer 12 лет назад

    You never said it might have been used in a different tone. In fact, you made it perfectly clear *each* time that the article was not to be taken seriously. This is the wriggling bullshit that drives me insane about political pundits in particular and what Al Franken is calling her out on.
    She mis-uses his quote, which is precisely like me saying you agree she's wrong because "by your own logic the original article" had a difference sense. See that? I'm quoting you and changing the meaning.

    The full quote: "No religious fundamentalist of any stripe would be caught dead flying nude, or in the presence of a nude woman, and that allone would keep hijackers out of the skies." So he did blame terrorism on religious fundamentalists of any stripe.

      Exactly. I can't believe Franken was able to pull the wool over so many people's eyes. He turned their focus to the facetious tone of the article and away from the issue at hand: who does the author blame for the terrorism?

    @BelfastAtheist - I'm a conservative-libertarian. As long as you don't harm or take away another person's rights your free to do as you wish. I believe in freedom of religion/ no-religion, expression, etc. I do believe in limited gov to protect individual freedom and rights. In pure anarchy, gangs will form and become the ruling class. In the U.S., my fear is fascism and we're quickly become a totalitarian state. Both Reps and Dems are responsible for us losing our rights as individuals.

    @BelfastAtheist - Yes, I understand the horrors of North Korea and Orwell was a huge influence on me in high school. At the end of my Jr. year, I traveled to Europe (1981) and visited E. Germany. I went through "Check Point Charlie" and visted E. Berlin. In E. Germany, my friend Vahid was wearing a militant looking hat which he purchased in a puck rock shop in London. He was escorted off the bus by two guards carrying AK-47s. The books combined with the visit had a huge impression on me.

    @BelfastAtheist - Thank you, I understand your comment about Liberal vs. Libertarian and how it relates to authoritarian vs. non-authoritarian states. In the U.S., many far left Progressives, who believe in state totalitarianism, refer to themselves as Liberals, which is the polar opposite of liberty. I made that assumption.

    So basically if I understand this right, Friedman was advocating for more government administered security at airports by saying the only way we couldn't have security is if everyone flew naked. Well if you've been following along since then that has resulted in molestation of every kind of passenger, most notably children and 100 year old grandmas. But Friedman didnt really argue for more govt. security he conjured up a ridiculous scenario for having security without government involvement.

    And if "The quality of health care is vital for anyone with any sense" how can you justify policy that doesn't give citizens health care, and that would allow denying people care for pre-existing conditions, like cancer or arthritis? Or canceling policies on people who have paid in if they need health care? Or letting a corrupt FDA and drug companies set the rules for what is covered? How in the world is that "quality" in any sense of the word? How is that not "harm"? How is it not "failed"?
