She just proved with here body language that she was caught in a lie. It wasn't paraphrasing, it was changing the quote to fit your narrative.

      absolutely

    • @damianfragapane3595
      @damianfragapane3595 7 лет назад +6

Regardless of her body language, her use of the quote was accurate. Freidman wrote that "no religious fundamentalist of any stripe would be caught dead flying nude". Therefore, who, according to him, are the terrorists? Religious fundamentalists of any stripe. Which is exactly what Coulter said in her book. Her body language was probably her realising that the audience would easily be misled by Franken.

    • @damianfragapane3595
      @damianfragapane3595 7 лет назад +1

Bob Wilson, she didn't say that Friedman blamed the terrorist acts on religious fundamentalists of any stripe? I can read, including your insults. They don't lend you any credibility.

@@damianfragapane3595he used weasel language. He implied that terrorism was evenly spread amongst those with extreme ideologies, whatever that’s supposed to mean. It’s not. The overwhelming share is coming from one group. And she’s clearly right about where to look. This makes the Kerry comparison valid as well. At a certain point it becomes a description of the suspect, to paraphrase Coulter. Btw, whatever happed to Franken? Lol

The best part of this video, for me, is after Franken reads the quote from the New York Times piece. That moment when they cut to her face, it's amazing. It's literally one of the best things I've ever seen. Why? Because I know that look. It's the same look that I have whenever I've been caught lying to my mother.

After watching this clip I decided that I wanted to know more about Ann. So, I watched several of her interviews, debates and read many of her articles. What I found is that Ann absolutely has a goal. Which, is to sell books. She has mastered the art of shock and awe! She keeps all on their heels, she wants all the control and mainly to have the opportunity to make her shocking comments which help her stay in the media because, remember "there no bad press". That is her formula to success; shock + more time in the public eye = more books sold. furthermore, I did noticed a couple things about Ann's persona and that is she A). avoids answering questions to escape from embarrassment (since she has no clue what they are asking her), B). She is actually a weak person " Complains more than others, Do not take opinion of others, tend to be overly dramatic" and C). Ann Lie's.... "Still part of the equation"
So in closing. I was very confused at first as I watched the video, to much commotion and then after researching and understanding Ann. I can say with certainty; she was afraid of AL! That's why she was so uncontrollable and uncomfortable like a bitch i.e. "female dog" cornered with no way out. I say please do not buy her books, remember that's what she wants and do not waste your precious time in Ann, turn the page and let's all move on!!!

  • @ChosunOne302

Here's the thing: It takes about 5-10 seconds to tell a lie. No matter how big and blantant the lie is, it still can need several minutes to debunk it.
So a blatant and chronic lier has an advantage in any debate. She can tell more lies than Frankin has time to debunk. She can also make up stuff on the spot.
Once I catch a public figure in chronic LIES--not honest mistakes--I just discount anything they say after that.

  • @loudharley6926

Franken didn't destroy her credibility; he didn't understand what the author of the article said. The author of the article said that "no religious fundamentalist of any stripe would be caught dead flying nude". So who is he referring to as the terrorists? Religious fundamentalists. That's obvious. And that's exactly what Coulter says. Franken seems to focus on the sarcastic tone of the article while missing the fact that the author clearly points to religious fundamentalists as the terrorists. Either that or he's deliberately being deceptive and underhanded.

People can do research and ALSO have "real world" experience. In fact sometimes they CHOOSE research because of it. As a person who changed jobs, had a 30 day lapse in insurance, and through "luck" broke my ankle on that last day - I got to experience months of unpaid rehab, unemployment, medical bankruptcy, and nearly dying, to come back to a pre-existing condition and a job I could barely do. Eventually the poor health care led to a permanent disability, and that was after insurance.

Are you saying that today's Democratic Socialists are what Republicans once stood for? What we have in the GOP, at present, is the party of Neo-Statists, not of Conservatives. To be sure, both the establishment Republican Party and the Democratic Socialists fear any challenge to the status quo that now rules over Washington, that being career influence peddlers and Crony Capitalists.
And as far as last resorts, i.e, "having nothing else", there is nothing of last resort with solid Conservative principals and values. I bet, to the last, you would agree with much of what Conservatives stand for, and less with the liberty robbing two party monopoly. What the Republican party needs is bold bright color differences, but that is another conversation for another time.

Ziggy DaHood Nationalsocialists, or NAZIS, are the FAR_RIGHT of the spectrum!
everything they stood for, were NATIONALISTIC causes, their "socialism" has not_the_least_bit in common with real SOCIALISM!
Nationalsocialists (ONE word, for it was a newly created word, BECAUSE they had nothing to do with Socialists!) have been (still are) FASCISTS (left?! nope! those are the right), militaristic and all about obedience.
their socialism meant "jobs for Germans only", "healthcare for Germans only", basically everything "for all Germans only" and it was pure xenophobia, fear of foreigners and Jews, that the Nazis had sold to the German public!
anyways, trust me when I tell you: the fascistic Nazi-Party had been of the far-right and it had more in common with today's so-called-conservatives in the US, than any real conservative would like!
then again, today's GOP has nothing to do with REAL conservatives...

The part about flying naked being tongue-in-cheek has no bearing on the fact that the author referred to them as "religious fundamentalists of any stripe" instead of, "Muslim extremists." Why not say, "no Muslim extremists would fly naked?" It would still be tongue-in-cheek. The subtext of him changing it to "religious extremists of any stripe" is exactly what Ann said - that it's not a Muslim thing, but an every religion thing.

@yzmaximus Your grasp of the facts & their translation into well crafted arguments is admirable. Eloquence was obviously a cherished quality around the ol' yzmaximus household. I earnestly look forward to more of your profoundly compelling dissertations, but please try to keep your mellifluous meanderings brief. You tend to run on in long winded rambling fickle tangents that include oddly opaque orations, curiously convoluted conjectures, & stunningly static statements. God Bless you, you boob.

@doonymacc (resumed) In 2000, Total government receipts were $2,025.2 billion and Bush's tax cuts were not significantly implemented until the end of 2003 and early 2004.
In between, revenues fell - all the way to $1,782.3 billion in 2003 (the number of jobs fell also - just like my example said). Curiously - once the tax cuts were in place, things began to turn around - revenues began to climb - along with the number of
jobs (again, just like my example said). (continued)

And if "The quality of health care is vital for anyone with any sense" how can you justify policy that doesn't give citizens health care, and that would allow denying people care for pre-existing conditions, like cancer or arthritis? Or canceling policies on people who have paid in if they need health care? Or letting a corrupt FDA and drug companies set the rules for what is covered? How in the world is that "quality" in any sense of the word? How is that not "harm"? How is it not "failed"?

So basically if I understand this right, Friedman was advocating for more government administered security at airports by saying the only way we couldn't have security is if everyone flew naked. Well if you've been following along since then that has resulted in molestation of every kind of passenger, most notably children and 100 year old grandmas. But Friedman didnt really argue for more govt. security he conjured up a ridiculous scenario for having security without government involvement.

@BelfastAtheist - Yes, I understand the horrors of North Korea and Orwell was a huge influence on me in high school. At the end of my Jr. year, I traveled to Europe (1981) and visited E. Germany. I went through "Check Point Charlie" and visted E. Berlin. In E. Germany, my friend Vahid was wearing a militant looking hat which he purchased in a puck rock shop in London. He was escorted off the bus by two guards carrying AK-47s. The books combined with the visit had a huge impression on me.

@BelfastAtheist - I'm a conservative-libertarian. As long as you don't harm or take away another person's rights your free to do as you wish. I believe in freedom of religion/ no-religion, expression, etc. I do believe in limited gov to protect individual freedom and rights. In pure anarchy, gangs will form and become the ruling class. In the U.S., my fear is fascism and we're quickly become a totalitarian state. Both Reps and Dems are responsible for us losing our rights as individuals.

"Lol?" What are you- a 14 year old girl? Type like an adult. And yes-
legitimate websites can show evidence of things- he just hasn't given one.
"Anyone can post anything on the internet... you should have stayed in school- then I wouldn't have to tell you that."
What they show you in school (clarification: above high school) is how to discern the valid sources of information. Good thing you'll never have to worry about higher education.

    3) (cont.) instead of having developed preconceived notions and biases and then insulting people and doing google searches cherry-picked later to try and back them up with random non-sequitur / irrelevant / out-dated pieces, a good and open learner would read up on all of the different policies, understand them, and then come to a conclusion. It would also enable you to actually have an intellectual discussion rather than resorting to name-calling at the outset.

Key words "if she can establish a substantive correlations between the quoted phrase and other subjects" -- which she couldn't. In fact, that was why Franken read the article (which then was called his "long boring stories", but was the context... to show that in context there was absolutely no correlation.
Thing is, when you quote someone you can't lie about the context. Especially when you reference it in your book to support your point.

@doonymacc By 2007, revenues were at AN ALL TIME RECORD IN THE HISTORY of the nation - we collected $2,568.0 billion. IN FACT, the six HIGHEST years of revenue collections in the entire history of our nation, came in the years AFTER the Bush tax cut. It just so happens that those ALSO were the years with the highest number of jobs -
    Gee, EXACTLY as I said.

Harvard's Kennedy School of Government program that Franken graduated from has been historically so lax and inept that senior professors at Harvard have lobbied the university to drop "Harvard" out of its name. Coulter has a BA from Cornell and Juris Doctor from Michigan. If you tell someone from Boston you're a Harvard graduate they'll be impressed. When "School of Government" is mentioned there will be a polite "Oh" followed by a walk-away. It's an empty less than nothing proclamation.
