Thank You for a great review on the Polygon Xtrada 6 bike. I got mine in last week and went ahead and order new hand grips and peddles for my bike before it got here. it's very thing you said about the bike and more so thank you again.

Great video, I’m really considering the Xtrada 6 as my next bike, great parts for the price, right now on Bikesonline, they’re having a discount on it, now it’s at an amazing $720!! I like the high quality video, a lot of other people have sub-par videos on the Xtrada 6. My 2 biggest gripes are the thin 27.2 (or 28.2, can’t remember!) seat post, limiting dropper compatibility, and the narrow 24mm width rims, I can totally live with the narrow rims, I’m not going to upgrade the wheel set, but for 2.25-2.35 tires it’ll probably be fine, and I ride light to medium trail at most. The thin seat post can’t be fixed, but at least it’s not bendy, and again it’s not a deal breaker. I really like the quick release boost axles, you get most of the boost advantages, without the increased price (at least not much), and you still reap rain ease of removal.
It's really hard to beat the value of the Xtrada 6. Especially when they're discounted. The 27.2mm seattube is my biggest gripe but I found the dropper post options to be adequate. The goal is ultimately to get the seat out of the way. Since we're not doing freestyle with these bikes they don't necessarily need to be slammed in my view. Also, the good thing about the rims is that 24mm rims and 2.25in just makes the bike faster. 😉. Big fat tires equal more drag. Glad you enjoyed the video. 🙏 😁
Pulled the trigger on the 2 x version 29er. I'm planning to take the bike beyond the trails and out on the pavement/gravel as well. That's where the tighter steps of the gearing and top end speed are beneficial I guess.
Thanks for the review. It was comprehensive and seems to be unbiased. I hope you get to review the Xtrada 7. I just ordered the 7 one month ago and am still waiting for its arrival. The Xtrada 6 has been on sale for $799 and the 7 for $849.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully we can give a 7 a test in the future. On spec alone the 7 is a great value. The 7 was at $949 as of today. $849 is a steal! Hope you get it soon.
Pretty nice spec for the price. FWIW, my minimum recommendation for first time buyers is disc brakes and air sprung fork. Ergo, the tapered head is a huge plus.
I'm assuming you are talking about Canyon Stoic. Both are very good bikes the Xtrada is very capable on varied terrain like you would see on XC trails. The Stoic favors more extended downhills.
Just got my Xtrada 6 today, over all very happy besides the tektro brakes instead of the advertised Shimano brakes. Also had to un bend the front disc and loosen/grease the front hub ( it was bound upon delivery). Not a bad bike for the money and the shipping was less than 7 days. If you aren’t familiar with bike maintenance, I would recommend having your lbs look it over for stuff like I mentioned.
That's a bummer about the hub and rotor. Always a good idea to give a new bike a thorough inspection. Not surprised about the spec change. Supplies have been sporadic. I just bought the Bend gravel bike and I ended up with a different set of tires. Luckily everything was setup correctly. Enjoy the new bike.
@@AdrenalineIsLife thanks! I expected to have some issues. And I’m pretty neurotic about servicing grease points regularly so it was no biggie. For a 719 dollar bike, I’m blown away by the quality.
You made me pull the trigger with Xtrada 6 just now. Thank you and more power! I’m so excited! ❤️ Do you happen to know the actual weight of the bike? Man, watching your videos gets me sk excited. 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Polygon win in price tag because they no need to import alloy metal from abroad. Indonesia is the biggest alloy producer so polygon can reduce the bike price because they can buy alloy cheaper directly from its source to make high quality bike frame
If I can get one to test, I will review it. 👍 I did an overview video that compares all the Xtrada models in the meantime. ruclips.net/video/tcNb-WviE3Y/видео.html
I purchased this bike and you are spot on about the 27.2 seatpost. Since the seat post is 350mm long i ordered X - Fusion Manic dropper post that is 350mm long with 100mm travel and i really hope that it will fit? Meaning the bottle cage mounts may come into contact with the dropper post. Because the standard post now bottoms out on the top bottle cage mount and cannot drop any lower for shorter people and that sucks for them! The other fact is the rear brake caliper position from what i see cannot accomodate 203mm rotor- 180mm is max without hitting the frame! The front can accept the 203mm rotor with the standard adaptor. The peddles are lame and that was my first upgrade. Over all the bike is pretty good and should keep me happy for years to come..
Unfortunately, bikes in this category will have the extra bottle cage mounts. Even my wife's Trek Marlin has this issue. The dropper should fit ok and actuate properly. The cage mount take up minimal space in the seat tube. Keep us posted on how it turns out. 203mm in the back is lot of rotor. 180mm in the rear is plenty in most situations.
We'll have the bike for a while and will be giving it a long term test. The welds look clean to me and the frame looks sturdy. We'll see how it holds up long term.
My biggest mistake was riding with a stock 780mm bar. Now my new 38mm rise bar is cut down to 750mm and feels more responsive and less stress on shoulders. Today's bike come with 800mm...for those who are 6+ ft tall.
What do you think of the XL2 rim set on this bike? Tried to do a little research on them and didn't really find anything but I did notice that Polygon also specs their Syncline bikes with those same wheels, including the $2300 C5. Under the Specifications and Comparisons section for the Syncline bikes, the terminology they use for the wheels is ""Entity tubeless ready rims with alloy hub microspline" but in the Model Comparison Chart they list them as XL2 32H.
I think this might be my first adult bike.. looking xtrada 6. Rockhopper comp. Gt aggressor pro. Deciding price point for first purchase, i plan to do easy trails with the kids and trailer my twins. But i do want the option to hit some more aggressive trails.
I just got back from a ride on this bike. I was smashing through the trails with it today. It's got great geometry as an all around bike. Not so slack that its hard to pedal but not so steep that it's scary on descents.
In my opinion the intrepid is not a good value. The Xtrada has a much better drivetrain, better fork, it's dropper ready, it comes in different frame sizes and your choice of 27.5 or 29in wheels and weighs less.
Thanks for the great review! Which size frame did you get, what is your height, and is it a good fit for you? Did you happen to weigh the bike? I believe you mentioned the tires aren’t tubeless ready; are the rims? Also, curious which Ergon saddle(s) you use... Thanks again!
I am 5'9" I got a medium in 27.5in (that's all that was in stock at the time). It's a good fit for me. I could go 29 easily but It's a pretty fast already. I weighed the bike at a hair over 30lbs with Crankbros composite pedals. The rims are taped and I seated a tire no problem. I'm not sure it's actual tubeless tape though. I had to add more sealant to stop a slow leak. I would tape it with gorilla tape or tubeless tape just to be safe. That being said, the there are no leaks anymore. I have the SM Comp size S/M It's very comfortable but the Entity was even better for me. Glad you enjoyed the video 😁
Thanks! I can fit 2.4 front and rear. The 2.4 up front is a tight fit. 2.6 will fit in the rear but it's too big relative to the rim width and is likely to squirm under hard turns. The Xtrada 7 has wider rims and would work better with bigger tires.
@@dougsphoto Dedicated bike packing rigs tend to be more expensive. The Kona is nicely equipped for the money. Take a look at the Salsa Rangefinder as well. It's a little less expensive alternative to the Kona.
Do you think the 27.2 seatpost made a difference in terms of comfort? They say it affects frame compliance and seated bump absorption. Thanks for the great video review!
Thank you! I've heard that in reference to road bikes but not on mountain bikes. Since road bikes are rigid with small tires, its more of an issue. Usually, you are out of the saddle on a mountain bike so it's less of an issue.
I just bought a gently used xtrada 6 with hydraulic disc brakes. There is inconsistent braking power on the front and the back. I believe the original owner never bedded in the brakes before using. Am I able to just bed them in now without doing anything additional? Or what do you recommend?
Its likely that they're glazed over. Replace the pads. Use organic pads as the rotors are not compatible with metallic pads. Clean the rotors thoroughly with brake cleaner or alcohol. Then lightly sand or use steel wool. Some people will light them on fire with alcohol as well. Not necessary but an option. Clean again, then bed them in.
@@AdrenalineIsLife thanks for the tip! I love your videos. It was helpful in me deciding to buy the Xtrada. It helps I got a killer deal on it. I paid $360 for a 2022 with less than 20 miles on it
@@edwins3127 I looked into this. They recommend riders 115kg (about 250lbs) or less. A heavier rider will cause the wheels go out of true more frequently. I've known a a couple of bigger riders over the years and they broke parts regularly but they rode and took their chances. My friend Jared at Cure Cycling told me there is a company by the name of Zize Bikes that engineers bikes for specifically for heavier riders. Not sure what their pricing is like but thought I would mention as an option.
@@AdrenalineIsLife I've seen their bikes not the best looking or what I'm looking for. If it means more frequent tune ups for the rims I'll do it. Our tails are not like yours, we have some but that's up in the mountains and I'm not doing those. What was the most common thing they broke?
hello! love your review man. i plan to buy a hardtail.my bet is xtrada 7 or xtrada 6. maybe you can help me what is worth of buying on one of the xtrada series ,
I'm 5'9" 30 in inseam. It recommended Med 29er. I ended up with Medium 27.5. The 27.5 is a little on the small side but I like them a little small and playful. So I think sizing guide is accurate. If I was XC racing with it, I would get the Medium 29er. I hope that gives some perspective.
They don't bottom out because of the bottle cage mount. The seat tube height varies by size the smaller the bike the shorter the seat tube. So the bike should be appropriately sized to rider height. If you are looking to slam the seatpost like a dirt jumper you will have to cut down the seatpost.
Wheel size is size dependent (both rider and bike). Bikes Online has a good sizing tool that will recommend a size based on your measurements. There's a button under the pic of the bike labeled "find my size". Click on that and follow the instructions. A properly fit bike will perform really well.
Awesome review! I am about 5'8" and looking for an all around bike for trails and street riding. Some mountain terrain but nothing too technical. Would you recommend 27.5" or 29"? Thanks!
Thanks! I'm 5'9 and partial to 27.5in There is more fun factor and suits my riding style. . There is a sizing guide on Bikes Online. If you enter your measurements it will recommend a frame and wheel size.
I take it you have a large 27.5. My question is if I buy the medium and a dropper would the seat bottom out at same height? Or would the medium allows the dropper to be lower in other words.
The 2x11 on the Xtrada 6 is fine and still a great value. 1x is simpler and less weight. The 2x gives you more gears. If you do a lot of pedaling on mellow terrain the 2x will be a good option. If the trails are rough, a 1x is a better choice.
Both are good spec for their respective cost. I haven't ridden the Vitus so I can only speak to the specs. The VR has an air fork vs the coil on the Xtrada and it has better tires. Its questionable whether there is much difference in performance better the XCR air and coil. Xtrada has a better drivetrain with much wider range and a boost 141 frame versus 135mm frame on the Vitus. Boost frame makes for a stronger wheel and more upgrade options down the road. The Xtrada also has a lifetime frame warranty and the Vitus is 5 years. I prefer the Shimano brakes on the Poly over the Tektro in the Vitus. That being said, at the $699 price point the Nucleus VR is hard to beat.
Why is my XCR fork not absorbing many bumps, and you said could forks are good at absorbing small bumps, I just wanna know if there is a way to fix it before I buy a new fork
@@AdrenalineIsLife I think I'll go fiddle with it tomorrow, haven't done much with my bike over the winter since I got it last fall. Can't wait to go riding this season!
You may want to check with Polygon directly. I know there are several pro riders in Europe that ride for them. So I imagine they're available in some capacity.
They do not. I believe there are a Polygon distributor in the EU. If you search by country you may find one that can ship to you. www.polygonbikes.com/dealer-locator/
@@XtopherMartin I'm deciding between this bike and a giant talon 1. Although the Nucleus seems to be a decent bike also. I guess it comes down to whatever happens to be in stock..🤔
You can do them on this bike. However, I would look at the Xtrada 7 which uses thru axles instead of quick release skewers. Also look at the Vitus Sentier which is about $1000.

@@AdrenalineIsLife can u please tell me what are my options of upgrading the fork? If What are the specific fork that fits. If possible a 150mm travel it can be. Thank u in advance for ur help!
Should i get the xtrada 7 or polygon syncline c5? Need it to do food deliveries for 5 days a week, 10 hours daily, for 3 years. Need a good hardtail for durability, technicality and most importantly speed. Many bumps, grass, curbs around my area that's why i need a light weight mountain bike with good specs. Thanks in advance.
The C5 is a better spec and highly capable. It's also lighter weight. The Xtrada 7 is still very capable. It depends on how banged up your bike will get while working. I would prefer an aluminum bike for those situations. If that's not an issue, the light weight C5 will make things easier. Hope that helps you in your decision.
@@raymond1035 if you are using if for work everday for hours on end bumping the bike, dropping etc. It will take a toll on carbon. Aluminum will ding and dent and and less to likely crack from abuse. If you were riding recreationally or racing, I'd say C5 all the way.
I wasnt happy that when my T8 arrived (around 5/01/21) the cool lil cardboard box inside that had all the paperwork and tools etc had been opened and pretty much dumped out inside the big box and the big box had a hole in the bottom from shipping so who knows what was missing. More importantly- they had Vee tire co tires on the bike instead of the Schwalbes that they listed. - Those are worth about half as much by the way. -also a paint chip by the emblem on the headtube. So I emailed them -only about the tires- asking them to take the vee's back and send me the Schwalbes... The bikes online guys try to distance themselves from polygon like it was a different company and took zero responsibility for the manufacturer swap. (polygon is the only bike online bikes sells) They said there was a shortage (obviously you can buy as many Schwalbes as you want on Amazon). They said I should be glad i didnt have to wait longer for the right tires ( I did wait about 4-5 months). Im ok with taking a chance to save money adjusting the bike myself etc, Im not ok with this company not sending me what they advertised and what I paid for.
Very similar. If dropper post upgrade is a priority, get the Marin. If you want a better drivetrain the Xtrada. The Xtrada frame is boost the Marin is not.
@@kachlon201 Boost is the most current standard for mountain bikes. It's a wider frame in the rear. Allows for stronger wheels and more stiffness. Most people will not notice a difference on the trail but it's nice to have if you want to upgrade your wheels in the future.
I believe it was on sale and now it's back to the normal price. When I review bikes don't factor discounts in the review. At $899, I would consider it to be a good value.
Typically you can increase the travel between 10mm and 20mm without much noticeable difference. It will raise the bottom bracket slightly and make the bike more slack.
Very nice review! Thanks for this, I was having trouble getting some info about this bike. I was wondering, you mentioned that a wider tire might be useful on this bike, do you know if a wider tire (2.5?) would fit ok? Also I was curious if you knew if the spyderbaits are tubeless-ready. There is some conflicting info about that. Thanks and I look forward to your next review!
I'm not sure how wide you can go. There is some room for a bigger tire. I'm going to trying a 2.4 and see if that fits. My understanding is that the Spiderbaits are not tubeless tires.
@@AdrenalineIsLife, have you tried wider tires? I've asked Polygon about it and they said that the maximum size is 2.25" and that installing a wider tire might interfere with the fork and rear triangle of the frame so they don't recommend it.
@@vsdlnOn the 27.5 version. I have been able to fit 2.6 in the rear but there isn't clearance up front. The fork is designed to take up to 2.3in. Anything bigger is very tight.
Hi guys I am stuck on which one to get the Polygon Xtrada 6 or Polygon Xtrada 7 could someone help me I live in Australia and the price difference is $300 I would be using it for mtb tracks. Thank you
Just brought one and looking at revew afterwards. For budget in the UK 🇬🇧 😅 all high end of low budget bikes or low end end of mid budget bikes.. what ever way you'd call it. Every bike in the budget had the odd component as an upgrade and lower end something else. Where the polygon had all the upgrades up to its doing great. It has all the bells and whistle just without the logo/branding what costs
Haha. I do that too. Polygon does a great job of specing the right parts to let the bike grow with you. Enjoy. Btw, where do you buy a Polygon in the UK? Another person asked me but I didn't have the answer.
Is air Fork an important part of the bike ! I ordered Xtrada 6 2x11 2021-29 Xl after watching your reviews but now im not sure to go for Xtrada 7 !!! Its 300 more ….
An air fork will typically be lighter and easier to adjust. I haven't felt the need for an air fork yet. It depends on your riding style and weight. The 7 does offer more than just an air fork. It has wider rims a thru axle frame and 12 speed deore drivetrain. Very good value for the money.

I'm brand new at MTB riding and recently got the Xtrada 5 for $799 and I'm pleased. It's a great bike without the dealer markups.
Welcome to mountain biking! That's a good bike to start with. Enjoy!
You think it's better than a trek Marlin 6
Pretty nice spec for the price. FWIW, my minimum recommendation for first time buyers is disc brakes and air sprung fork. Ergo, the tapered head is a huge plus.
That's a good place to start.
Great review, thanks. Am in the market for a 6. They're $1,200 + shipping here (damn Australian currency and taxes :-) )
Damn! This bike deserves 4 thumbs up! What a decent bike for it's price! I was into Canyon but I might go for Polygon!
I'm assuming you are talking about Canyon Stoic. Both are very good bikes the Xtrada is very capable on varied terrain like you would see on XC trails. The Stoic favors more extended downhills.
Yes price is crazy
@@Smegma_pirate it's a lot of bike for the money. Really love the way it rides.
Sounds like a good deal!
Awesome review and sweet trail.
Thanks! 😁 Glad you enjoyed it.
Looking at buying this or the Jamis Durango A1. If my bike shop can get in the Durango, I’ll go with that, otherwise the Xtrada 6 for sure.
Either way. Life will become more enjoyable! 🙌

Awesome thanks for the review 👍
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it!
You made me pull the trigger with Xtrada 6 just now. Thank you and more power! I’m so excited! ❤️ Do you happen to know the actual weight of the bike? Man, watching your videos gets me sk excited. 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Thank you. Glad you enjoy the videos! 😁 I weighed the bike at about 30lbs. Thats a size medium 27.5.
Good review of this bike. I have one in my home. This bike is very impressive with good price especially in my country Indonesia.
Thank you. 😁 it's a great bike!
Great video mate!
Thanks man! 🍻
Polygon win in price tag because they no need to import alloy metal from abroad. Indonesia is the biggest alloy producer so polygon can reduce the bike price because they can buy alloy cheaper directly from its source to make high quality bike frame
I didn't know that. This must be why their bikes are more available than other brand. Thanks for sharing.
Nice, I'd consider one if I was looking for a bike in that price range.
not only xc geometry, trail also ! you can put a 140mm fork without problems, great video too !
I agree. Geo definitely leans to more trail. I imagine that a 140mm fork will make it more aggressive. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Polygon is unreal affordable bike
Very good value for the money.

Well done review. Where were you riding? Looked cool
Thanks! It was a backyard trail system in Indiana.
The only question is how good the aluminum welding is on the frames of these bikes. Would love to see a long term review of one of these.
Proper handlebar fit is very important. Luckily most bars can be cut down. Enjoy!
Nothing to note. They're a typical inexpensive aluminum wheelset. I've had no issues so far
Tbh...extrada 6 is the best in its categories...but United clovis 5.10 really hit the market for newbies
Really should mention that at this price it has a clutch derailieur which is awesome!!
Yes! Makes this bike an amazing value.
How is the Giordano Intrepid in comparison?
Nice review. Would a 2.4 or 2.6 tyre fit the front and back?
Thanks! I can fit 2.4 front and rear. The 2.4 up front is a tight fit. 2.6 will fit in the rear but it's too big relative to the rim width and is likely to squirm under hard turns. The Xtrada 7 has wider rims and would work better with bigger tires.
Hi thx for your review. How do you think this bike will do for a beginner adventure Bikepacker
My pleasure! It can be used for bike packing. You'll just need to shop the right bags. I'm hoping to do some bike packing with it this year.
@@AdrenalineIsLife thx although my research just led me to the Kona Unit X which looks awesome but its another $750
@@dougsphoto Dedicated bike packing rigs tend to be more expensive. The Kona is nicely equipped for the money. Take a look at the Salsa Rangefinder as well. It's a little less expensive alternative to the Kona.

Indonesian product. Nice polygon can action out of Indonesia. Produk lokal yg mendunia. Salam gowes brothers 👍👍👍

They can be setup up tubeless. You will need tubeless tape and valves.

Solid choice. Enjoy!
@@AdrenalineIsLife what do you think about the xtrada 6 and heavyweight Rider about 350 lb on pretty normal trail rides with no jumps
@@edwins3127 they were aggressive riders that taco'd wheels and broke chains. Check the wheels for true regularly and run higher tire pressure.
hello! love your review man.
i plan to buy a hardtail.my bet is xtrada 7 or xtrada 6. maybe you can help me what is worth of buying on one of the xtrada series ,
Is the manufacturers size guide reliable? I’m 5’10.5 with 32”inseam torn between med 29 or large 27.5
Thanks for the reply!! Great channel by the way!
@@DavidBrown-ge6kx Thanks 😁
What did you go with?
Is the seat post too high for someone short..5’6..i heard the seat post doesnt bottom out..
They don't bottom out because of the bottle cage mount. The seat tube height varies by size the smaller the bike the shorter the seat tube. So the bike should be appropriately sized to rider height. If you are looking to slam the seatpost like a dirt jumper you will have to cut down the seatpost.
what size wheels would you reccomend for the xtrada 6?
They have this bike but in the 2x11 version. Is it worth getting it? They have a sale on it for 719$
The 2x11 on the Xtrada 6 is fine and still a great value. 1x is simpler and less weight. The 2x gives you more gears. If you do a lot of pedaling on mellow terrain the 2x will be a good option. If the trails are rough, a 1x is a better choice.

@@diegocap2860 Yes it will work. You will need to buy a tubeless tire, tubless tape and tubeless valves.
Thoughts on the Xtrada 6 vs Vitus Nucleus VR?
Hi, 1x or 2x for mixed roads, forest preserve and gravel road.??
If you plan to ride single-track like Palos 1x for better chain retention. If you are not, then 2x will be fine.
Is it worth it to get the xtrada 6 over the 5?
Yes. If you can afford it, you'll have a more capable bike.
Why is my XCR fork not absorbing many bumps, and you said could forks are good at absorbing small bumps, I just wanna know if there is a way to fix it before I buy a new fork
I don't know. How is it set up. What's your rebound and preload set at? Are you a very light or very heavy rider?

More importantly- they had Vee tire co tires on the bike instead of the Schwalbes that they listed. - Those are worth about half as much by the way. -also a paint chip by the emblem on the headtube.
So I emailed them -only about the tires- asking them to take the vee's back and send me the Schwalbes...
The bikes online guys try to distance themselves from polygon like it was a different company and took zero responsibility for the manufacturer swap. (polygon is the only bike online bikes sells)

There is some conflicting info about that. Thanks and I look forward to your next review!
I'm not sure how wide you can go. There is some room for a bigger tire. I'm going to trying a 2.4 and see if that fits. My understanding is that the Spiderbaits are not tubeless tires.
