Pretty epic scenery, that must have been a awesome day. Really glad you had the save instead of a rocky fail. The ultra high end is too Gucci for the most part…but they do have a nice resale value, so it’s not a total money burn. Pretty fun series. Your videos are quality enough and you are good enough in front of the camera to make a little longer vids if you ever wanted to. Remember we are all here for content, so the more content the better. Love this, 10x better then Bikbike's version and funny that you got the Idea off of Donut Media, I watch their VIdeos too. You could maybe do another one of these, but this time it would be low vs mid. so similarly cheap parts compared to mid-range parts that are not so overkill. That would actually be quite helping for making buying decisions. When I looked at your final conclusion I kinda thought sth. in the middle would have been the best. I am ready to spend more than 400 Bucks on a Fork, but I dont need a grip two cartridge ocashima coating. What you could also do is used vs. new comparing new cheap parts to similarly priced higher end used parts. Here you could also include how to determine wether used parts are in good condition and worth buying. I hope this helps develop and grow your channel, because I absoluteley love your videos and I am looking forward to seeing more similar ones. How much do you think the cost of what you spend on a part plays with the mind in what costs are involved in the occasional fails? Like sometimes I have more of a fear of financial burden and replacing expensive parts...and sometimes it is easier to just "send it" on cheaper stuff that is less expensive... probably why some people think I think too much..but I know that while my sins are forgiven and I know my Redeemer Jesus lives....I also tend to go from paycheck to paycheck and don't wanna have to save up for a long time due to part breakage....
I loved this series and agree with finding a middle tier upgrade for my bikes.

44sec KOM is insignificant and honestly shouldn’t be a trail segment unless it’s at least 1 mile or maybe 0.5 mile.
But people make insignificant 0.02mile segments and clutter up Strava with that crap.

I just bought a 2018 S Works Epic frame for 700 bucks. Needs a shock thru bolt, new water bottle rivets, and a new bottom bracket and probably a shock service, but I am looking at a 600 carbon enve wheelset, boost, DT 240 hubs, a 2020 Rockshox Sid Ultimate for 350, carbon enve bars for 120, and an X01 rear derailleur for 110, cassette for 124, and a shifter for 44. Used Pirelli scorpion tires at 35 each, with Sram G2 brakes. I've always wanted a Fox Factory dropper, and have found a deal on one for 190 without the lever, so I will get a Wolftooth light action lever. A Selle Italia Boost Super flow saddle is comfortable and helps soften the bumps on my anus, for 38 bucks. Raceface Next R carbon cranks and a Wheels Manufacturing bottom bracket for 180 and 45 each will round out the build.

This yellow beauty came so fast ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L and even though shipping box was slightly damaged, bike was untouched. After unpacking it, assembly was pretty straightforward. Attached the steering bar (wheel), then front tire and pedals in less then 15 min. This is where it got tricky...brake pads were touching discs (rotors) at all times while rotating wheels so I had to spend good 40 min adjusting it. After everything was done I went on my first ride and goodness gracious, was I surprised. This mountain bike performed like a champ!!! I rode for 20 miles straight on some trails and the vineyard by my house. I am 160 lbs and there is nothing I would change on this bike besides front and rear tires. Also, if you are wondering, I am 6’00 feet tall and and I ordered 19inch frame - It feels absolutely perfect! Usually more expensive equals better, but there's a point where you get diminishing returns, the things that I've upgraded that made the biggest difference on my 2019 norco fluid fs1 were dt swiss wheels, and vittoria barzo tyres, that only cost $850 dollars, that got the weight down from about 15.5kg to 14.0kg, it came with a 35mm rockshox revelation with a motion control damper, the fork felt good except on fast braking bumps, but instead of upgrading to a charger damper I changed the damper oil from 5wt to 2.5wt, and now the fork feels great, I've also upgraded other things too, and now it weighs 13.87kg, but if you want best bang for buck wheels and tyres are your best bet, I wouldn't spend big money on suspension either, for example my 2017 trek slash 9.8 had a 160mm rockshox lyric with a charger damper, and the rockshox revelation with 2.5wt damper oil feels the same as the pike.

I am new to your channel, so forgive me the maybe outdated comment...but your cassette on the highbike is not sram original right? I rode one summer on a KCNC cassatte and noticed some kind of "clunky" shifting. I hesitated because of the price but paying the premium for an AXS system and trying save on its direct counterpart, believeing it should work like the double priced original is kinda naive.. the teeth desing pattern could be patented, for preventing copycats and the eagle system is engineered in Germany(but made in USA)..we germans tend to make things complicated and focus hard on maybe smallest details to reach perfection. How ever, XG-1299 is ordered in rainbow colours to match my turquoise/orange Rocky Moutain frame😁

Edit: I have more things to say
Literally the gearshift on the high bike cost 10x more than my whole bike that I have here. Actually all of the parts on the high bike cost so much more than my bike. Like where are you getting all this money from. Btw my bike cost about 150 dollars. My bike is just fine (I think) and it’s very cheap

bikes over 5k are ridiculous and 100% not worth it unless someone (sponsor) is paying you to go fast. good mid tier stuff can be built up to be essentially top of the line performance at a fraction of the price and is almost always easier to own (lower maintenance). and to that end, a well maintained mid tier bike will outride a well ridden and neglected top of the line bike 100% of the time. It's the sweat equity that makes a bike fast, not the price. Pick good parts, keep everything clean, tight and properly lubed. Learning how to build wheels saves a massive amount of coin. favorite parts I own on my rig are my Garbaruk 10-46 cassette and my one-up 210mm dropper. Price to performance ratio is to the moon. keep unsprung weight as low as possible especially in back dramatically helps handling performance. Hollow pin /slotted chains save alot of weight. Steel parts on a bike are where the weight is. Carbon parts are WAY over rated, focus on removing steel. peace

im not gonna lie, its not the 11k spent on a bike that scares me, its that the totally "budget"/entry level bike with pretty bad components is still 3K+, nowadays the sweet spot bikes with 0 compromises lie in the 4-5k range. i understand why, but as a student I wish it was different

I don't know about the compatibility issues on the "cheap" drive train, seems to me more like lack of research of what would and would not fit. I have pretty similar SLX/XT setup and it has worked absolutely flawlessly for the last 1600ish km I had it.

If you spent that $3000 or whatever on a stock bike, how would it compare to what you built custom? Usually parts cost less as part of a full bike purchase.

as for you saying the front end was so heavy at the creek gap, watching the video, in my opinion, it looked like you didnt preload the suspension enough. no hate meant, just from what i can see

You should redo the video with a mid tier bike with new parts, that aren't compromised, investing on parts that where a sucess on both the high end and low end, like mid tear bars, wheels, and so on
