  • Despite a couple slight disadvantages, the new 2016 Hyundai Tucson is spacious, incredibly refined and more comfortable than you might expect.

    My wife has a brand new '14 Tucson and let me tell you its very nice. I love the new look of the '16 model, I think they did an amazing job. Hyundai is clearly getting better every single gen and have great designers; Something Honda USED to have back in the 90's! haha Goodbye Honda, hello Hyundai!

Bring'em on Hyundai!!

    My brother just bought this today, it’s his first car and beautiful at that. Drives wonderfully, he’s got the Turbo and it’s just so smooth. The sunroof is incredible with how large it is and the audio is pretty neat too. You can even select which part of the car you want the audio to come from (like a surround system that you can change at the touch of your finger). Very cold stuff!

      Yeah, but most people keep the key in their pocket all the time. Imagine hanging out in your driveway or washing your car rear and the tailgate just opening. It should have a leg gesture like the Ford escape.

      Xenophene01 And who wants to balance on one foot as you try to do the hokey-pokey to get your liftgate open. The only time you are going to stand behind it that long is when you are leaning against it drinking beer with your buddies and if you aren't, it gives you warning beeps before it opens so you can take a step backwards.

    I'm considering this car now in 2022 bc in top trim it's a great value with low miles, however I have to double-check to see which engines from the Tucson are affected by the engine recall bc that recall makes me nervous about getting a used car with one of those engines

    To me it sounds like the biggest compliant I would probably have is its lack of power. No I don't expect a cross over to be super fast. But if they would bump the HP up another 20 without sacrificing more the 1 mpg I suspect it would be alot better/more fun.

The wheel did vibrate though when I went over 100 kph and the Windows were not opening properly for some reason. My car is long dead now and I'm considering to purchase the 2016 modal now... How bad is the vibration on this thing ?

    Apparently no has done there homework on Hyundai / KIA as both still have issues with EPS. It is a hit or miss scenario....meaning you may get one with good steering or one that has major issues. Most reviews do mention something in terms of steering in a negative context. Just be careful if you buy and road test it on a highway as that's where the issue's are more prevelant.

      This is a small CUV, there is no purpose in putting a V6 in this segment, you need to move to a SUV such as the Santa Fe. Also, there is no such thing as V4, its I-4 (inline).

    If you buy a Hyundai (especially the Tucsan and Santa Fe) be prepared to spend minimum of $175-$500 every month on BS problems you will never experience in a quality car like an Honda. Every other month you will have to replace 1 0f 6 to 8 catalytic converters that go out for no reason like clock work one after the other. Your gas line will need replacing, then your gas tank that rotted from the inside for no apparent reason. Your check engine light will be on more than it is off. When you finally replace the entire engine and decide you've had enough, and sell it for next to nothing, you'll buy yourself an Acura and realize that it never needs maintenance, that it isn't normal to be without your car every other month because it's in the shop again, and you'll swear like I did to NEVER buy another Hyundai again!!!

    Good review...... Is this colour Ultimate Red? Looks fantastic! I'm considering 'upsizing' my car again, and have now narrowed it down from initially four options to a new 2015 Hyundai Tucson Premium SE (range topper in UK). Or the new 2015 CX5 Sport Nav (again the UK range topper). I have now test-driven both and the Mazda does somewhat feels better to drive and more connected to the road, but the Tucson has more kit included as standard, looks more stylish and it also drove well too - the 1.7 diesel. But I'd probably go for the 2.0 diesel 2wd for a little more power/grunt. So undecided lol.

    That dual clutches kills the deal for me. I had driven ford's dual clutches and it's suck cause it has the slipping feeling or not refine when you're driving at low speed in city streets .

    • @DeeTheBomb
      @DeeTheBomb 8 лет назад

      What's dual clutch?

    • @dieselmutt8865
      @dieselmutt8865 8 лет назад

      +ThisSpidaDoe It's a transmission that uses two clutches in place of a regular torque converter. The clutches are automated by a computer so it has the simple two pedal design like any auto trans would. The transmission is designed to have two gears engaged at any given time and the computer decides which clutch to engage as to what the drivers demand is asking for. The advantages are usually much quicker shifts and less parasitic loss which helps power delivery and fuel efficiency and it's not boring to drive like a CVT is.

      It's not a good or bad thing, just different. Myself personally with a lot of mechanical background would prefer the dual clutch because it kind of gives you the best of both worlds of a full automatic and a straight manual transmission. The main thing with any type of transmission is do the required maintenance. They all require maintenance even though some manufacturers are trying push "maintenance free" transmissions which in reality are not maintenance free as they will just not last near as long as a maintained unit will.

    I can't get the way Jeremy Clarkson says it. "Hi-u-n-dai".
    Anyways, not a bad little SUV. I drove a '14 on a trip across Texas and it was pretty comfortable. Peppy even with it loaded up (it had a 2 liter N/A motor), lots of room, but I hated the lag you got from the accelerator due to the drive by wire system.
    My wife loved the SUV though, and I have to admit it was not bad overall.

    I have a Range Rover Evoque. I love this thing but the reliability of these cars is just crappy as all Land Rover vehicles always have been. The car has some really annoying drivability issues and although it has that "British" feel to it, it is just too expensive to qualify the trade off's . I am actually considering a trade for a Tucson which I have to say is probably overall a much better vehicle in most ways. Including price. I'm leaning towards this Tucson. I hope someone can convince me otherwise but once my Range Rover hits 50,000 miles the warranty goes by by so it will have to go anyway within the next year or so.

    i had the base version as a rental last week - the worst rental car I ever had, I had to floor the gas pedal to get it moving. it just dies if there a hill. get a better engine if you like the car

    It's kind of disappointing seeing where Hyundai is struggling with their style. Their fluidic sculpting styling/styles they had were fantastic, inside and out. Now they're having a midlife crisis with styling, having some more edgy looks on their recent models.

    Transmissions "learn" based on driver behavior. Often units shuttled around to reviewers have been totally confused by their bizarre driving habits while testing them. Test a unit on a lot.
