    For backpacking, I’ve used a Big Agnes UL 2-Person SomethingOrOther, which I’ve had since 2004. This tent looks like a very good one. For car camping, I used a North Face 3-Person Tadpole from the early or mid ‘90s. (Well, I think it was a Tadpole.) I rescued a dog in Nov. of 2016. The first time I set my NF tent up in the backyard, my wonderful new dog tore it to shreds when I went in the house for a few minutes. There was nothing to do but hug her and accept the loss of my favorite tent of all time. Now, for car camping, I use a Jack Wolfskin 3-Person Whatchamacallit. (I’m terrible with names.) The dog? I found a new family for her because she refused to get in tents.

      Maybe she was more a a camper girl than a roughing tent dog! I'm on the hunt for a new 6P for car camping. I'm thinking about the Kelty Trail Ridge but am open to suggestions. Zipper split on my rain fly. I'll use it for the rest of the winter. Looking to see what coolness comes our on spring of 2020 as well. Let me know if you have good suggestions.

    I bought the Marmot Tungsten Ultralight 2P and you're right this tent is very similar to the Crane Creek Ultralight 2P. Someone had the Crane Creek 2P on my last hike through the Ozarks and I liked his a bit better because I did think it was roomier on the inside.

    • @LoneCrowAdventures
      @LoneCrowAdventures  5 лет назад

      I've never encountered anyone with the Marmot Tungsten on the trial but when I look up the price difference which is around $100 I'm glad I went for the Crane Creek. I also like to use a wider camp mat than most (25" versus the standard 23) and two mats of this width can fit in this tent. Thanks for the comment!

      Thanks so much for the feedback! I bought this on Amazon Prime day as kind of an impulse purchase. Prior to this I was using a hammock camping system but with the weight of the nylon fly and the bug net (so much needed in Illinois) this tent actually comes in at less weight even with the camp pads (when compared to two people both dragging hammocks and accessories).

    • @hippiehiker2428
      @hippiehiker2428 5 лет назад +1

      I have a car camping hammock, but I don’t think I would want to try a backpacking one. I just feel more secure in a tent.

    • @LoneCrowAdventures
      @LoneCrowAdventures  5 лет назад +1

      @@hippiehiker2428 Hammocks can be uncomfortable, they are okay for a weekend gig but longer than that and my body hurts. Plus I use a down sleeping bag and when you lay down the material is compressed so it doesn't keep your back warm. I don't have an underquilt but I've heard they help to insulate and I recently saw that Klymit makes a hammock specific shaped mat with an R value of 4.4. I used to have a hammaock with an integrated bug net, but on my last time out with it I rolled over a bit too far and ended up flipping the whole darn hammock resulting in me screaming out for help in the middle of the night and ripping the bug net before falling out. Now I just use a regular hammock and I have a separate bug net so that won't happen again. I felt so stupid when that happened.

    If you use a poncho instead of a rain jacket I recommend dual purpose usage for the poncho and footprint. I use the onewind Ultralight Silnylon Poncho Tarp, 7oz and it’s incredible. Replace my crazy heavy military issue poncho.

    Just thought I'd clarify as I own a Tungsten UL 2p. While one side of the tent is 4" shorter than the Crane Creek, the other side gains 4" for a tapered shape, so you get less space for your legs and more space for your upper body. So the Crane Creek is 50" wide whereas the Tungsten UL is 54"/46" wide.

    Hi Samantha, a new sub here. I’ve been enjoying your Videos. I’m inexperienced camping in the cold/wet Maryland October weather and had to buy this tent for my daughter school camping trip. I love almost everything about this tent but I found the bathtub of the tent a bit too shallow. We tried setting it in the backyard. It rained, and we got a bit of splash from the ground up to the mesh. We don’t have much grass in the yard. The tent performed well in the storm and kept us dry overhead. At 34 F night time, I felt a bit hard to sleep because of the cold air from the sides. And I was on the MegaMat 10 sleeping pad and inside Nemo Forte 20 sleeping bag. I wish I got the regular version with a little more fabric on the side instead of ultralight. I bought UL version just in case we would go backpacking. Do you have any tips on setting up in the wet/cold weather? I used extra stakes for the head and foot sides as well. Can 3 seasons tent handle Fall temperature? Thanks for making all these videos. It’s very helpful for a newbie like me.

    • @LoneCrowAdventures
      @LoneCrowAdventures  Год назад

      This tent can handle 3 seasons no problem. Vents very well. I used it a couple of times in the winter too but it didn't snow, I don't know that it would hold up to heavy snow. But great tent. Get a ground cloth of damp weather? That will help to keep you dry!

    The tent look so.big. How do u put inside the backpack

    • @LoneCrowAdventures
      @LoneCrowAdventures  4 года назад

      I leave all the compression bags at home except for the pole bag. I put the stakes in the pole bag and run it alongside the inside of my pack (outside of the liner). I fold up the tent body and the fly and lay it on top of my pack liner. It compresses well and takes up a lot less space this way, plus its right there on the top if I have to set it up in the rain.

      I personally hate watching people setting up tents in videos. It takes too long in a video to watch someone in my opinion. You have to watch them mess around with the poles and stumble over themselves for 5 or 6 minutes to get it set up. I figure that mostly everyone knows how to set up a basic tent such as this so I left it out. Thanks for the feedback though.
