The laterals are even crazier than they already are in the pouring rain. My brother did front row twice in a row during Holiwood Nights of 2020, and it was downpouring. The helix was so intense it didn’t seem possible. Those rides are why it’s in my top 15 overall
I went to Holiday world last year for the first time and yeah Voyage definitely takes the top seat and the park but still to this day one of the craziest experiences I've had on a roller coaster was on legend. My brother and I sat like dead middle of the train with a full train on a super hot day and we were practically in each other's seat the whole time it was crazy.
It's smooth now, it used to be one of my least favorite coasters but after my 2022 rides it shot up to the top of my list. GCI did an outstanding job retracking it
Legend received some Gravity Group pre-engineered track on outward leg and turn around so Legend is now the smoothest woodie at the park IMO (I rode all 3 woodies in row 11 to confirm this). Absolutely love this ride's first drop in the back car! I too know the trick to a full cup on the water cup challenge.
There's something different and special about the way Legend does laterals. I like it far more than regular laterals. I also noticed that rough patch at HoliWood Nights last year. It unfortunately was quite painful for me, which had a negative effect on my enjoyment of the ride. I hope they got that smoothed out. My first rides in 2020 all came at night. It ran so much better at that event, and I was amazed after my first ride. I couldn't believe how the ride just kept going and going. It's not super tall, yet it had enough momentum to give such a long ride while also not letting its foot off the gas. I didn't even know about that double helix until I was in it, and I was loving that feeling like it would never end. It was also a wonderful false finish, as I was guessing this was the conclusion, but nope, plenty more ride to go. I easily liked it more than Raven then, but in 2021, I far preferred Raven.
The Voyage is the better coaster. However, the first time I rode The Voyage I came off a bit disappointed and didn't feel it lived up to its reputation. And I still feel that way. But the first time I rode The Legend I came off pleasantly surprised because I'd heard mixed reviews and ended up loving it. Yes, it can be rough. But it's an exhilarating experience and there isn't a dull moment. It's one of those coasters where your body feels it for a few minutes after you get off. And you will be flung around. This is not a coaster to ride while sitting next to a stranger.
@@CanobieCoaster I think hype killed Voyage for me. I rode it a couple weeks ago and it was pretty underwhelming. To be fair, I did ride it in the morning, but the airtime was pretty subpar. Most of all, though, it was pretty rough! It made it kinda hard to distinguish airtime from bouncing out of my seat! With a wooden coaster as ambitious and aggressive as Voyage, the ride has to be pretty smooth to be very enjoyable, and unfortunately, Voyage isn’t. I think I hit it JUST before a major retracking, so it ran rough. I think if I ride it again, I’ll love it!
Very timely review for me, as I just rode this masterpiece a couple days ago! First rode this last year, which was a tramautic experience! 😅 (This was probably partly because I sat on the "wrong" side - the right side - and couldn't brace properly for the strongest lateral-moments.) But I recognized that Legend's layout had potential, and when I heard it was going to be retracked, I made it a point to come back to Holiday World this year. And, I must say: BEST COASTER-REDEMPTION EVER! The retracking, while sparse, was highly effective, and really allowed me to enjoy all of the masterful layout. Now, I'm in love - easily my favorite CCI! Thanks, Holiday World, for taking care of your coasters!
One of my favorite coasters! The laterals are so much fun! This is probably my most favorite coaster to ride cuz my family and I just hysterically laugh while we’re pinned into each other by the laterals 😂
Foolish mortals! You WILL yield, succumb, and ultimately capitulate under the "power" that IS the LEGEND! I agree the night times rides + even a ride at dusk is beyond exhilarating. That sign + name is ultra COOL! I'm sure a certain studio wished they had this namesake coaster.
Update: I just rode it on Saturday, and I think it’s the best coaster in Indiana, and it’s my #3 overall (behind Shivering Timbers and Boulder Dash). The helix is out of this world, and the small amount of airtime this ride has is still outstanding. Also those hills at the end are kinda reminiscent of GCI transitions
I'm going in 13 days. for the third time. Went summer of 2021. That was my second time there but 1st time doing the roller coasters. I only did legend and raven that day. But this time doing the voyage for the very first time and of course doing legend and raven again as well.
Just rode this today! Not many coaster elements can put me in a state of shock, but that helix did just that. While Voyage did win in terms of ratings, only Legend exceeded my expectations.
For a quick pop, cobra by interpark has a insane 4 g's of lateral for around half a second and it is absolutely insane but for sustained it wouldnt say this is the king as Ghosterider has that helix that leaves you pinned to the side of your seat for a good 9 seconds with even airtime while getting the laterals which is downright terrifyiing.
There are two roller coasters that I know of called The Legend; this one and the one at Arnold's Park in Iowa. The name makes a lot of sense for this one because of its theme, but now I am really curious as to how the one in Iowa got its name.
This definitely looks like one of the most elite wooden coasters, at least for CCI. The laterals look really good and so sustained on tha lt helix. Would you say that helix at the end is better than the Beasts helix? Pacing looks fantastic as well.
I like how the tunnel under the log flume is shaped like the bridge from Sleepy Hollow. The bridge you use to escape the Headless Horseman. Just don't look behind you, keep running.
Quintin Rice I always find it interesting when I see a half empty train go by, while the Water Slide line is all the way down the steps. Is this park now known for its Water coasters over their Woodies??
Hi. Unrelated comment but how should I brace for the stop on X-coaster at Magic Springs (or a clone of that ride)? There's one coming to Gumbuya World (my home water park/theme park) and I hope to ride it soon.
Legend is why Holiday World became a woodie mecca. Before Splashin' Safari expanded, it was just as "out in the woods" as Raven and Voyage. It still beats the best wooden coaster at most parks. It may be 3rd out of 3 for most enthusiasts, but I still love it. A lot.
When I last visited Holiday World in 2018, Legend was my least favorite of the 4 coasters. I found it to be a bit rough. I still enjoyed it, but just not as much as the others. I will be going back in a few weeks and it will be interesting to see what I think. I still think I will end up preferring Raven to it because I enjoy airtime over lats.
Legend is my number 3 in the park, which sounds bad but Thunderbird is my top wing coaster and Voyage is easily in my top 2 wooden coasters. I think I have Legend at about number 10 wood.
I think i know how he came back with a full cup i think he put his hand over the cup im sorry if you didn't want me to tell people and by the way you're video's are awesome
Legend is actually my favorite wooden coaster! It was almost butter smooth in 2022, the pacing is stellar, the laterals are nuts, and the hop into the turnaround weirdly gave one of my all time favorite airtime moments!Voyage has an amazing layout and pacing, but I think it’s been running pretty rough in 2022 and the airtime was actually kinda underwhelming, so my current opinion is that it’s just solid. And I know how mad this’ll make many people, and I’m sorry in advance, but Raven is kinda mediocre. It was running rough in 2022, ESPECIALLY in the second half, and even minus that, the layout is shockingly dull. Barely any airtime (and that was in the afternoon, and with plenty of room with the lap bar)! For positives, it does haul through its layout and the setting is great, like all the coasters at Holiday World. That’s just my opinion, though!
The laterals are even crazier than they already are in the pouring rain. My brother did front row twice in a row during Holiwood Nights of 2020, and it was downpouring. The helix was so intense it didn’t seem possible. Those rides are why it’s in my top 15 overall
I've ridden all their woodies in the rain and it's great.
6:04 this element yet again has some jackhammering in the back as of June 2023
Dang!

The lats are no joke.

Oh cool! I thought I was insane in thinking Legend was the park’s smoothest coaster!
I can’t wait to go here. Although I have 2 parks to go to before holiday world I think I’m looking forward to this the most. “I like free soda”👍
It's nice not having drink lines.

Apparently they fixed that rough patch for 2022 as I hypothesized.

I agree Voyage has far more hype.

Those lats are incredible.
The bunny hill after the turnaround gives EJECTOR after a long day haha. It's my favorite part, catches me by surprise every time.
I love that hill.
Wow, didn't know it was that long of a coaster! Great review!
Thanks!
BTW you are right, that section after the turn around is glass smooth now honestly there is not one single rough spot on this coaster.
Awesome!
I agree the ride has a cool logo.
I think it'd a really fun looking coaster. I know it is way better than our 3 at Canada's Wonderland. But I love our woodies.
While I don't hate Wild Beast, this is far better than any of Wonderland's wood coasters.
I unfortunately missed out on riding it in September of 2020. Luckily I’m going back on August 27th and it’s gonna be the first thing I ride.
Dang!

Those Cobra models look interesting.

I missed what it resembled.
Quintin Rice

Both are popular.
Would be really cool to see you do a top coaster laterals moments
That one may be tricky to do well.
Between Legend at Holiday World and Coaster Express at Parque Warner Madrid, which coaster does have a longer track length?
What do you think?
Coaster Express
Hi. Unrelated comment but how should I brace for the stop on X-coaster at Magic Springs (or a clone of that ride)? There's one coming to Gumbuya World (my home water park/theme park) and I hope to ride it soon.
Yes, the restraint hits your stomach.
This ride rides most similarly to The Beast but without the excessive trims I absolutely love it.
I much prefer this to Beast.

It's weird seeing old POVs before the water park expanded.
I remember the rumor a that this coaster was going to add a zero G roll like the coaster at Silver Dollar City. Was that an actual plan?
I never heard that. I heard about plans for Predator.
When I last visited Holiday World in 2018, Legend was my least favorite of the 4 coasters. I found it to be a bit rough. I still enjoyed it, but just not as much as the others. A few commented this ride was recently retracked even more.
It's great now. Not one spot of roughness on it
This ride looks awesome. I can't wait to ride this someday.
9:13 WE. WANT. PROOF.
Sorry, no onboard cameras were allowed :)
Legend is my number 3 in the park, which sounds bad but Thunderbird is my top wing coaster and Voyage is easily in my top 2 wooden coasters. I think I have Legend at about number 10 wood.
The top 4 coasters here are all great.
So you’re never going to review Raven? Or you’re saving it for last..?
I want to get more footage of it first.
Did you like this more than the Voyage?
No
is the voyage better?
Much better.
Still prefer Coaster Express at Parque Warner Madrid!
Underrated ride! :)
Lol not me.
I think i know how he came back with a full cup i think he put his hand over the cup im sorry if you didn't want me to tell people and by the way you're video's are awesome
No, not enough suction.
Ohhh

I heard it's running well this year.
I wish CCI didn’t go bankrupt
At least it spawned Gravity Group.
Best woodie in the Midwest besides blue streak
Wow, not a fan of Voyage?
