- Not too many parks still boast a true "wooden coaster collection" of 3 or more, but we should honor the ones that do. These are the 14 parks around the world that have a true collection of woodies, ranked from 14 to 1.

Not many coaster collection lists where Michigan's Adventure trounces Cedar Point.
We do love our woodies here! 😅
This might be the only time 6 flags St. Louis gets a top 10 in a positive video!
So true lol
Haha yea but Airtime Thrills does love American Thunder
@@RideorDine American Thunder is like a great hamburger. Accessible and satisfying.
@A random on the internet I’ve also gotten stuck in front of that Joker animatronic. I shot at the canisters on both sides of him whenever that happened
@@k3n0ju theme park crazy is that you?!
Thinks to myself “What could be #1?” *Facepalms upon reveal*
12:30 I actually know a guy who helped build Flying Turns. After the completion of Flying Turns, he joined Sheetz as part of the maintenance crew for their Scranton/Wilkes-Barre district before retiring in 2021. So if you ever need to find the most Pennsylvania career path ever, here it is.
The beast at night alone would put Kings Island at the top for me. That double helix in the pitch black darkness is one of the craziest most out of control feeling I’ve ever felt, second only to steel vengeance.
Voyage at night is better
Too rough of a coaster for me, and it doesn't do much until the helix.
I would say that 5 years ago, but it is trimmed waaaaay too much for me to agree.
@@Joshwake I just rode The Voyage for the first time ever last night....and it was one of the last rides of the night. I've ridden The Beast at night and now The Voyage. The Voyage actually blows the beast away at night and it's not even close. That was an emotional experience for me lol
@@kakky3222 yeah voyage at night is the best coaster out of the 450 I’ve been on
Always nice to see Worlds of Fun get some love. Now two years later, they do have 3 with the addition of Zambezi Zinger.
The racer at Kings Island is spectacular this year. Dont pass up a back row ride on the red side.
yep, much smoother than when I last rode, couple potholes but not bad at all. Beast on the other hand took me out for an hour
Yeah much better than racer 75
@@joyouswhimsical5402 I actually think the roughness on the beast is perfect for the kind of ride it is. It can definitely give you a headache if youre prone to them, but i wouldnt say their are any overly jarring or painful moments
The valleys still sucked on the return run.
Holiday World: the biggest example of a quality over quantity theme park
Or a park like Silver Dollar City
Magic mountain the biggest example of a much better park than anything in the world
@@ryanstrong1167 I see you haven’t been to cedar point or universal Florida
From the looks of it, it's a miracle that Pegasus doesn't derail every time it comes back into the station.
When you go back to Hersheypark, you should give lightning Racer another try back row Thunder side. It's been running very well this year, and I got great airtime on every single hill when in the past I thought the ride was kinda boring
Seconded, Thunder was great last weekend when I rode it. Better than I remembered.
Dude, just accept your coaster is hella lame
@@molestingfood "my coaster" ?
@@CoasterRoaster yeah, the coaster at your home park. It sucks. But I wouldn't know because of the 2 times I've been to your park, I've never remembered anything worth remembering from that ride
@@molestingfood it's not my home park lol. I have been there twice in the past 5 years
I guess the midwest is the place to be for woodies...cool list
It's also a good place to be for coasters in general. King's Island and Six Flags Great America have excellent coaster lineups beyond woodies, and of course you have Cedar Point, who didn't make the list for woodies but has a bunch of other coasters.
Holiday World looks like it has the best lineup.
Eh maybe, it’s my home park. Voyage is the only good coaster there honestly. Legend is mediocre at best and Raven is the same.
@@colescott3969 okay. Of the ones I’ve been to, Knott’s is the best. I haven’t done many good wooden coasters.
@@colescott3969 dang we all have our preferences, but I love Raven and Legend. Love the laterals, seclusion, and relentlessness
@@colescott3969 what about the wing coaster I forgot the name of?
@@crudkip4326 Thunderbird
SFGAm's woodie collection is incredibly underrated. Viper, Eagle, Goliath, and Little Dipper are all really good.
I actually agree with you; there underrated and I'm surprised by that
Great to see Blackpool Pleasure Beach on the list! A note on the Grand National, whilst it is rough (like really rough), It has some crazy airtime. If GCI or the Gravity Group were asked to retrack the ride and give it brand new trains, we could be looking at one of, if not the best roller coasters in the UK.
I miss the buzz bars, it felt dangerous in places.
Also the Big Dipper has that absolutely awesome double down into the tunnel (underneath the Big One's track) which is top drawer for ejector airtime.
Aight you may wanna hold up oppinion of Racer in kings island. Rode it the other weekend and the first few hills they retracked are very good and the last hill before the turnaround had such strong ejector airtime it scared me (third row red train). Rest of the ride was the same ol racer but if gravity group completely finishes the retrack it may be top 5 coaster in the park and that’s no joke. It hits different.
I work on the nickelodeon streak and blue flyer and I find it crazy that they still have manual braking. The grand national is still one of the best wooden coasters around despite how rough it is
Nice video! I really like how you incorporated the general enthusiast consensus. Good work!
Great video! I love Kings Island's wooden coaster collection! Holiday World's seems great too!
I VERY much agree with this list, pretty perfect in my eyes. Great video!
My family and I go to Holiday World every year, so I definitely have a soft spot for wooden coasters!
I agree with you about the Legend, I usually thought of it as the weakest of the three, but they seemed to have reworked the track because it was much smoother the last couple years, and is a dramatically better experience for it!
Holiday World also takes care of their woodies better than any other park imo
Idk I think knobels does a little better
@@charliegriswold1445 You may be right. I haven't been to Knobels yet.
Kennywood does a good job too
When I tell you it made my heart happy to see Knoebels on this list- I love that park so freaking much!
This is a great list. I love woodies. That makes this a list of my favorite parks, too. Holiday World and Knoebles are 1 and 2 for me. My favorite places on the planet.
Knoebels being my home park and just visiting there a day ago, The Phoenix is still my absolute personal favorite. glad to see such a small park so high on the list.
grand national may have a bad reputation for being rough, but it also has an amazing reputation for having some of the strongest ejector on any woodie, and big dipper has really good airtime in the back with a single bar for both riders, that will never touch your legs unless you're... *larger*
My favorite type of rollercoaster!!! I have to say, I’m thankful Holiday World is one of my home parks. World class woodies. Nice video.
Kennywood not getting enough love here. Historical significance, uniqueness, and the consistent smooth ride experiences place KW in the KI, Knoebels, Holiday World category.
Yeah in terms of history and upkeep Kennywood is top tier. In terms of ride experience, knock them down a little
Yea I’m still going to thank you for the dinner reminder
Pegasus lmao, almost giving you whiplash as you’re pulling back into the station 🤣
Favorite collection of mine: holiday world
Legend was screaming this year and moved up my rankings from last year. I agree with that top three and the re-profile on the Raven lake turn did it wonders as well.
Clicked on this immediately. I've always loved woodies. I enjoy a good hyper or invert, but woodies were my first real coasters and I just love headchopping through the scaffold jungles.
Little Dipper was my first ever roller coaster credit, I rode it at kiddieland just a few months before the park closed so I’m happy that you mentioned it when you brought up great America
Glad to see my home park Indiana Beach on here! I prefer cornball in the very back row cause I get little to no airtime in the front but amazing ejector in the back. Its an amazing ride though!
Great idea for a video. I had a feeling Blackpool would be in there, towards the bottom half. Their woodies aren't spectacular, but they're still decent fun. That park and (strangely) Canada's Wonderland are the only ones I've visited from this list. Mighty Canadian Minebuster (back in 2006) was the roughest coaster I've ever ridden. Hopefully I'll be getting to a lot of these American parks next year.
Grand national is one of the most underrated rides I’ve been on. The airtime is insane. Also I’d put KD grizzly on that list. I rode before the retrack and hit the single most painful moment on any ride I’ve been on in that tunnel, pretty sure I got some sawdust in my eyes too. 10/10, absolutely loved it.
I think I agree 100%. Blessed to live in PA and not far from the Midwest, I get to ride many of these coasters often. I’ve only ridden the Beast once however. Now that I know what I’m in for, I think I could enjoy it towards the front with plenty of Benadryl in me. 😅
“It reminds me of a lot like racer”
Which one there’s about 50 of em? Anyways keep up the good work!
Thought the same thing 😂
Probably the one he referenced in the video. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 you people are dumb af lmfao 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great video
Spot on!!!
Got my first ride on The Voyage last night, and not only that, it was one of the last trains of the night. I have never in my 20 years of riding roller coasters experienced something like that. It made me emotional.
My first coaster was a woodie... the “Shooting Star” Lakeside Amusement Park in Roanoke Va ! The park is now defunct mainly because of flooding back in 1986!
We went to Holiday World for the 1st time this summer. Holy crap balls those wooden coasters blew my mind. I have never experienced anything like that. We will definitely be going back!
I respectfully disagree with where you placed Kennywood. Racer is small but surprising, I also love the figure 8 design where you start and end on different sides of the station. Jack Rabbits double down in the next to last row is the strongest ejector airtime I have personally ever experienced. Thunderbolt is decent. I agree with your #1 and most of your list but I would have Kennywood in the top 5. Good video dude! :)
The only reason I like minebuster is because of the airtime on it but it’s very rough
Wood coasters need to come back with a Steel Vengeance.
Haha… funny
Love the vids
Screaming Eagle was my first roller coaster. I think I was around 10 at the time. I remember my mom was terrified that I was going to fall out of the seat in that ride, since I didn't stay in the seat that often during the ride. I was very much not a fan of it. Haven't ridden it since, but I knew after I got off that I wouldn't ride it again.
Before I watch my predictions are kennywood, holiday world or kings island
Nice video!
Wolverine Wildcat is actually a mirror image clone of Phoenix at Knoebels. Pretty funny considering Phoenix is praised and Wolverine Wildcat is hated by enthusiasts.
Airtime Thrills being courteous towards Lightning Racer…the GROWTH I am here for!!
Kings island, holiday world, and my home parks hersheypark and knolebels
That nearby park that Little Dipper (SFGA) was relocated from was called Kiddie Land, located in Brookfield, Illinois, near Chicagoland's largest zoo. Just now realizing that it's technically my first coaster credit, about thirty years ago.
Actually wasn't it in Melrose Park off of first Avenue and north avenue?
i was at adventureland at the end of june and tornado was great! i had low expectations but something must've changed. really nice sustained floater on almost every hill from anywhere in the train
There is a smell and a away and a sound you can only get from a woodie. Each one has their own personality. That is what makes them special.
Just visited Adventureland recently, was surprised by how much I was whipped out of my seat by Tornado (my ribs kinda hurt on second ride though). Hadn't ridden a coaster in about 2 years so that might've colored my perceptions somewhat
screaming eagle is insane in the back row, you must have had a bad ride haha
I like your video's, they take a lot of work, I watch for them when they arrive... I think this is truly a cool idea for a topic. :). That being said, it went too long for me.
Ironic given your name
@@AirtimeThrills LOLOL .. Touche', hahaha.... I do have better couple small comments about your clips, whenever, hit me up, Jeff. jefflongsmail@gmail.com.

Haven't even started but I know that kings island is gonna be up here
I just got to holiday world a couple weeks ago and I definitely agree that they have the best wooden coaster collection. Although the legend was not open it still look great
Yeah they were doing some work on it. It is a great coaster though
Legend wasn’t open when we were at Holiday World either when we were there in 2019. My favorite coaster there was Thunderbird. I was disappointed with Voyage after hearing all the build up. I thought it was rough everywhere other than the front row. Prefer the Beast. But I think my favorite woodie is Hades 360 at Mt Olympus. It’s just insane. Best ride every time would be Mystic Timbers. Kennywood has a nice collection of woodies too that are very well maintained and very rideable. Not rough at all.
@@toby7291 I thought the voyage lived up to the hype although I had to figure out where to ride it in order for it to be good. I was super disappointed with thunderbird, got stapled and thought it was kind of boring.
@@toby7291 Holiday world does an amazing job with their woodies. every off-season they are doing maintenance on the coasters. They have retracked Voyage trying to smooth it out. in my opinion, Legend is the roughest out of all of them. Holiday World has a team that only does Coasters called the "Coaster Cats" that work especially hard to maintain the coasters.
@@ethanowen1416 I liked Voyage in the front row but not very comfortable anywhere else. As far as Thunderbird I liked the launch the packed in elements. I prefer the shorter Thunderbird to the longer Gatekeeper at Cedar Point. When I was at Holiday World I rode Thunderbird for two hours straight. It was a slow day and it was walk on.
I missed out on The Legend because it was closed when I visited Holiday World for the first time a couple of weeks ago. :( Luckily Raven was open and really great. And The Voyage is otherworldly. Relentless, filled with forces, tons of airtime, goes on forever (that second half heading back still hauls ass despite the trims). And after all that it ends with an incredible finale. That one coaster alone is reason for me to visit Holiday World again within the next couple of years.
Me waiting for ghost rider to come then remembering it’s the only woody in the park 😭
SFSL is my home park. American thunder is not only my favorite woodie but my favorite coaster in the park!! Screamin eagle is my second. You have to ride eagle in the back car on a hot summer day. Late in the day is fantastic!!! And you absolutely have to do a night ride on eagle!! You will have a complete new outlook on it after a hot summer night ride
"If you can get past the roughness on Hades 360". Ya that's a big "if". Last time I rode it I was crying by the end because my back was in so much pain, and I'm a healthy 20 year old
“Mystic Timbers. GCI‘a Finest Work Of Art”
Thunderhead: “Allow me to introduce my self”
I rode both Legend and Voyage this year. Both awesome, although the lap bars on the Legend for some reason wanted to go down through out the whole ride so by the time it ended it was rather painful on the lap.
My brain when I read “best wooden coasters at one park”
1. Holiday World
2. Kings Island
3. Kennywood
4. Hersheypark
It was great to see the parks outside of the US!
Living near Indianapolis, I have Kings island, Indiana beach, Great America and holiday world within reasonable driving time. I've always been a fan of wooden coasters, and I guess I can attribute this to being in the Wooden coaster heartland of America.
Great to see my home park on here!🍫😎👍
Nice Rankings! Oh and by the way, Wooden Coasters are the reasons why Roller Coasters became a thing after the first open in 1885!
I just rode Lightning Racer today at HP, and I say that actually does have airtime. I rode on both sides near the back and in the back rows and the trains were full. It was giving decent floater airtime at best. The lightning side is definitely smoother than thunder.
I would say that Kings Island has the best woodie collection that I have been too
Yeah, he put Kings Island really low. I also think the airtime on the woodstock express there is under rated, and gives more airtime than Mystic Timbers
@@koalakyle19 Not sure 4 is all that low. Only 3 beat it and they are understandable choices. Chris isn't big on the Beast (he's one of the rare people in the middle on that one).
@@DoomPlague I rate the beast really highly. So in my opinion is that it is low
@@koalakyle19 Honestly yeah. I don’t understand the hype about Mystic Timbers. I honestly think that all of the woodies other that Woodstock are better that it. And Woodstock is close
As the resident KI home park person, I’ll weigh in on the debate.
1) The Racers are significantly better after the re-tracking and are totally worth riding now.
2) I could see how the Beast could be considered overrated. However what other park can claim the wr? Yeah didn’t think so. And nothing beats a night ride on the Beast.
3) Mystic Timbers is fantastic for the speed it keeps and the air time is pretty decent too. And with it being the smoothest of the bunch makes it great for first time coaster riders.
4) Woodstock Express from what I remember is pretty decent. Haven’t ridden it in a while but like Mystic Timbers it also makes a great first coaster for beginners.
ADVENTURELAND BABY!! But the tornado needs a retrack or the ol rmc love treatment for sure.
Oh hey a video I suggested. Cool cool. Guessing I'm not the only one who suggested it.
Not surprised to see my home park in dead last. I don't know who thought it'd be a good idea to have the guy behind Mean Streak design both of the major woodies, but... it clearly wasn't.
Good video
I wish American Eagle at great America would get more hype it’s really not that bad and it’s one of my favorite wooden coasters in the Midwest
Yes, I agree. I rode it on Monday, and I got standing airtime on just about every hill
Best in the park imo
Seriously. I would be sad if they RMC'd it, because then I won't get my cheap fix of airtime on Eagle with little wait. If they RMC'd it, have fun getting on. It'll be hours before you'd get on the newest roller coaster at Great America
@@koalakyle19 nowhere near the strength or quantity of airtime on the ride is found on the typical rmc
@@howenator Maybe the first drop would be better. But for me, the airtime hills are stronger than that little pop of airtime that's found on Goliath
I'm going to Holiday World and King's Island a week and a half from now, and I am pumped for these woodies! (Also going to Cedar Point lol). It will be my first time at HW and I haven't been to the Ohio parks since before Millennium Force. Fast lane plus at the Ohio parks! I'm so excited!
KI is so worth it. It’s my home park. Enjoy your visit!
Lines were still long with the fast pass on the top coasters. Hopefully u have a better experience.
We'll be riding the best woodie collection in the am! Holiday World!! 🤘
Rode the legend the last time in the pouring rain. Cool experience!
Voyage alone would beat almost if not all of these parks
I’m hoping to get back to Kings Island later this year and I do hope Racer’s retrack helps. It was brutal last season
I hated racer before but this year the part before the turn around was so smooth. After the turnaround is still rough but huge improvement.
I've been this year and it's MUCH improved from how rough it was last year.
It is indeed better. While I was visiting one day someone told me in passing they had redone some portions of the track. So I figured why not and rode it. And man oh man is it so much better.
Would love to visit Holiday World and Indiana Beach for their woodies someday, also Lakemont Park with the world's oldest wooden coaster
Blue Flyer (it was Zipper Dipper) was my first credit. I last rode it about 10 years ago, the main thing I remember is how uncomfortable it was squeezing in with my friend.
Back when the Wild Mouse was still there, Blackpool pleasure beach was definitely a top ten in the world for best Woodies collection.
Love the video and Also I'm going to Six Flags in 3 days
I was waiting For Kennywood’s Collection Of woodies to be on there and I’m fine with it being at the number 8 spot respectfully!
First thought: My home park Holiday World is a jock in this field.
I immediately thought that too, even though o haven’t been.
@@ThemeParkAvenue You need to head to Holiday World. If I ever see you there, I’ll happy to give you a tour of the park!
@@roxynano thanks! I hope I can get there one day.
it's my home park too!
Lake Compounce has 2 wooden coasters. Looking forward to riding Boulder Dash this weekend
Comet at Hershey Park was actually the first coaster I can actually remember going on and I had fun, or at least I think I did cuz that was 17 years ago I think.
As a Canadian... wonderland needs to refresh their woodies.
The best wooden coaster collection is clearly Sesame Place thanks to Oscar's Wacky Taxi. So good it doesn't need any sidekicks
I recommend going to Six Flags St. Louis in October(not just because my mom and I are going)the Halloween decorations are all out and you get some great night rides,my mom and I went last year and had so much fun and decided to try and make it a yearly thing.
I'm glad he respected wood coaster.
The 2 woodies at California’s Great America, Goldstriker and Grizzly, are awesome. And Grizzly was my very first rollercoaster
Grizzly is really really weak imo
St. Louis loves wooden coasters.
Plus KI has stickers groves two coasters about a half hour away. And in the 80s and 90s there was scratching eagle at Americana right around the corner.
Yoo adventureland made it into a coaster video??? I thought I’d never see the day.
Glad to see an English park here
Funny story when I was like seven I went on shivering timbers at Michigan adventures and hit my head and cried the whole ride lmaoo fun times never went on another wooden roller coaster till mystic timbers, The Beast, the Racer, Woodstock express, and etc at kings island a month ago lol I'm 14 now also The Beast is my favorite but Mystic timbers probably would of been my favorite if I was not seated front row lmao
The Beast at night is my favorite coaster in the world. Especially if it's fall on a cool day
