There are so many amazing wooden coasters that are really low in this top 20 because of roughness. The top 2 are wooden monsters that are treated like babies by their respective parks. Just goes to show how maintenance can really affect wooden coasters
If you’re going to ride Boulder Dash, I recommend going on when it’s dark outside, the woods make is even darker and you get very little light from the few lights in the park and the moonlight as the tracks are not lit up. It’s definitely an amazing experience

I had lived in Florida all my life and been to Cedar Point many times so when we went to Six Flags in New Jersey on vacation I wasn't expecting anything to blow me away except for maybe kingda ka which was closed the day we went. My brother likes wooden roller coasters so we decided to go on El Toro I wanted to then jump over to Nitro. Little did I know how much I was going to love that ride. It must of only been open 4 or 5 and I had never heard any hype about it. Also RUclips and coaster content was less prevalent those days. I feel like it made me love it even more however as I wasn't expecting the ridiculous airtime and overall out of control experience El Toro delivers. My brother almost didn't like it because of how forceful it was haha. It was when Rolling Thunder was still underneath part of it. I remember riding thunder at the end of the day and literally feeling the train and wood sway from wood rot, being one of the few times I felt unsafe on a roller coaster haha 😄 Those are the two things I remember most about that trip. I need to get back up there when the Devil opens and ride it and Toro again!!
As a born and raised Wisconite... I'll never understand why Zippin Pippin got so much random love this year. I've got to have ridden it close to 100 times by now, and I mean its fun... but number six in the world over Hades, Outlaw Run, Goliath, Ravine Flyer, Boulder Dash, and all those GCI's? That boggles my cheesehead mind quite a lot.
Totally agree with Viper being massively underrated. Unfortunately, haven't ridden nearly as many coasters as you have, but seems like a pretty solid list.
After actually riding Outlaw Run it’s my favorite coaster over LRod. I think you hate on it a bit too much but you at least raised it and respect it so I’ll take it 😂
El Toro is a little rough, but Six Flags Great Adventure makes sure to retrack the ride and proactively maintain the ride to ensure that it's running as good as it did in 2006. Usually when parks need prefabricated wood track, they need to call Intamin to replace that section, but the park does it in-house with the same materials and building techniques that Intamin used. So I'm sure they'll maintain some sections over this offseason as well.

Sure it's been around for decades, but it still holds up. Also, I rode Comet a couple of years ago. 100% does not deserve to be on this list. It was easily the worst coaster I've ever been on. have you ridden Twister at Knoebels? rougher than Phoenix but with a longer more interesting layout. i grew up on those coasters going every summer to camp!
I'm lucky enough to live 5 minutes from el toro. If I am a bad mood or having a crap day I go an hour before closing and ride el toro a few times to improve my mood.
Someone else who recognizes the underrated beauty that is Comet! Hersheypark is my home park and Comet is also my number 1 wooden coaster at the park. I really wish you would have gotten to ride Lightning Racer pre 2018, as it has gotten much rougher over the last several years and used to be a lot smoother with a lot more force behind it. But I remain very impressed with how well Hersheypark has maintained a 74 year old PTC woodie!
Great list! I never felt Comet at Hershey was anything special, unlike the Beast at King's Island, which I love. As far as rough goes, I like that aspect, as long as my spine doesn't get slammed.
Yikes American Thunder is high, I really like it, but the airtime in most spots is pretty weak and it’s definitely NOT better than TX Stingray or Thunderhead. Apparently it’s been running weaker in 2020
Imagine if gravity group tracking was as good as their layouts! The Voyage is better since the park has re-tracked it! Mineblower is rough, but so good. Smoother tracking would make it higher. El Toro is so smooth, even though locals say it’s rough in some parts lol
I thought I was high on Comet, but it looks like not nearly much as you. I love the airtime in the back at the start, but the second half usually peters out on me. Did you get some rides with the trim off?
If you ever get a chance you should definitely make it out to Myrtle Beach for Swamp Fox. It's a lesser known coaster, but it has buzz bars, plus some insane ejector airtime on nearly every hill, making it crack my overall top 10 coasters (out of 81 credits)
As far as Ravine Flyer and Timberliners go, it won’t happen unless Gravity Group designs a new version of the trains. They tested Timberliners on Voyage almost 10 years ago now, but had to cancel the project because they were too light and took the course too slow, and to be honest, I’d argue that Ravine Flyer 2 already takes the second half of the course too slow. If it got Timberliners it would have a very high chance of valleying on the last couple hills before the brakes.
If you get a chance at some point in your lifetime, do Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce as a night ride. It is absolutely terrifying with just the din of lights from the rest of the park since no lights illuminate the track.
Not seeing The Beast on here shocks me. The double helix is so intense. Also at night it’s like you are waiting to be attacked going through the woods.
I have to say I am surprised that The Beast at Kings Island, American Eagle at Six Flags Great America, Tremors at Silverwood, Phoenix at Knoebels, White Lightning at Fun Spot America in Orlando, Thunderbolt and Jack Rabbit and Racer at Kennywood, Kentucky Rumbler at Beach Bend, Boardwalk Bullet at Kemah Boardwalk and Shivering Timbers at Michigan's Adventure weren't on the list.
Did you know that Amerocan thunder is a clone? The real thing is called thunderbird and it is in powerpark Finland (My home park). It is the best wooden coaster I have ridden.
One of the coasters you mentioned only had a lap bar that was like a foot away from you. I went on a wooden coaster at lakeside in Colorado that only held you in with a seat belt no lap bar! It was scary but super fun!
That is crazy! I live in Wisconsin and I thought I lived in a desert but someone with a huge coaster count with credits around the country comes and says that zip and Hades are in his top 10!
Before I started this video I was like ok ghost rider better be on there or ima loose it cuz that is my absolute favorite coaster. My girlfriend is so sick of me talking about it😅
My initial guesses is that your top 3 are M Timbers, Ghostrider and Toro, and no less than 3 HYBRID coasters Edit: Well I forgot the voyage but I was right about your hybrids
tbh, im surprised steel vengeance wasnt even an honorable mention. I havent ridden steve yet but all of the hype around it made me think that it would be atleast in your top 10.

Thats why the prefabs are pretty low 1 Troy 2 Joris en de draak 3 Rutschebanen (Tivoli Gardens) 4 El Toro (Freizeitpark Plohn) 5 Colossos kamf der giganten 6 Wodan 7 Balder 8 Wickerman 9 Falken 10 Stampida
I’ve only ridden 9 so I’ll just rank all of them. 1. Voyage, it is also my #1 overall 2. Boulder Dash. I have a lot to say about it, Last time I rode it was in 2013 when it was at its prime. It was still smooth as butter and it still had that triple up, and that triple up to this day is my favorite moment of ejector, I loved it even more than Magnums bunny hills. 3. Cornball Express. My question is how? How is this 52 ft tall coaster so good, it’s living proof that size doesn’t matter. 4. Blue Streak (Cedar Point) I think this ride falls victim to being overshadowed by the parks bigger attractions, I love the airtime though. 5. Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain. There is nothing conventional about this coaster (which in its case it works beautifully) 6. Timberhawk. Two words: smooth and boring. 7. Hoosier Hurricane. Two words: Rough and boring. 8. Raven. I don’t know if it’s just me. But this ride was hot garbage when I rode it this year (except that 5th drop, that was kick ass) 9. Wildcat (Lake Compounce) you know it’s bad when someone wants to forget about a coaster. 10. Legend. Wait a minute... Oh yeah, I didn’t get to ride Legend because the virtual queue was at a 3 HOUR wait. I’m still salty about it.

have you ridden Twister at Knoebels? rougher than Phoenix but with a longer more interesting layout. i grew up on those coasters going every summer to camp!
0:58 timber terror look like knock off outlaw run in that image😂
I bet if he did not count RMC woodies gold striker would be very high (I’m not bias because CGA is my home park, nooo)
I’ll be hitting up Switchback and Texas Stingray on Sunday with my girls
That Goliath rating hurt my soul💔😪
Don't mind me just stumbling over here from discord
Wait he has a discord?
@@allthingscoasters2551 yeah it's on the community page from about a month ago
Living within an hour of great adventure is amazing and I get a season pass every year just for el toro
Great list! I never felt Comet at Hershey was anything special, unlike the Beast at King's Island, which I love.
As far as rough goes, I like that aspect, as long as my spine doesn't get slammed.
Glad to see you moved voyage up, it’s my favorite coaster currently.
My 2018 rides i was out of my seat the whole time. 2020 it was slower so i know what you mean. I dont remember the trims tho
@@AirtimeThrills The second turn has a skid brake that can raise up. It was slowing the train hard this year.
How in the world is Switchback better than Texas Stingray????
Its little sad you havent gotten to make it to europe/asia yet. cause i bet few would replace a few.
If you ever get a chance you should definitely make it out to Myrtle Beach for Swamp Fox. It's a lesser known coaster, but it has buzz bars, plus some insane ejector airtime on nearly every hill, making it crack my overall top 10 coasters (out of 81 credits)
My dude that coaster is a one and done lol. It was hella rough when I went like 5 years ago. lol needed the credit lol.
Swamp fox was garbage when I rode it. But the airtime made up for some of it.
Me knowing dang well that none of the woodies I've ridden is going to be on his list, but still curious to see what's here.
Not seeing The Beast on here shocks me. The double helix is so intense. Also at night it’s like you are waiting to be attacked going through the woods.
Viper? Smooth? I got a concussion from viper
Its been a while since i rode it
I have to say I am surprised that The Beast at Kings Island, American Eagle at Six Flags Great America, Tremors at Silverwood, Phoenix at Knoebels, White Lightning at Fun Spot America in Orlando, Thunderbolt and Jack Rabbit and Racer at Kennywood, Kentucky Rumbler at Beach Bend, Boardwalk Bullet at Kemah Boardwalk and Shivering Timbers at Michigan's Adventure weren't on the list.
Dude, honestly when you can, come to the uk for coasters, you’ll love it
Did you know that Amerocan thunder is a clone? The real thing is called thunderbird and it is in powerpark Finland (My home park). It is the best wooden coaster I have ridden.
One of the coasters you mentioned only had a lap bar that was like a foot away from you. I went on a wooden coaster at lakeside in Colorado that only held you in with a seat belt no lap bar! It was scary but super fun!
That is crazy! I live in Wisconsin and I thought I lived in a desert but someone with a huge coaster count with credits around the country comes and says that zip and Hades are in his top 10!
Ah yes the only shuttle coaster, Switchback.
Where do you rank Tremors?
What are your thoughts on Excalibur at Funtown Splashtown?
Before I started this video I was like ok ghost rider better be on there or ima loose it cuz that is my absolute favorite coaster. My girlfriend is so sick of me talking about it😅
If El Toro had a different lap bar I would put it higher. But it crushed my stomach making it an uncomfortable ride.
My initial guesses is that your top 3 are M Timbers, Ghostrider and Toro, and no less than 3 HYBRID coasters
Edit: Well I forgot the voyage but I was right about your hybrids
What about twisted colossus at six flags magic mountain?
I've been on Blue Streak. And that's it...
I'll be getting on the other ohio wooden coasters in 2021 and I have high hopes for mystic timbers!
When are you getting on T express and Colossos?
Your 18th is my #1, over voyage
tbh, im surprised steel vengeance wasnt even an honorable mention. I havent ridden steve yet but all of the hype around it made me think that it would be atleast in your top 10.
Its not a wooden coaster tho, its a fully steel track on wooden supports
There is nothing like:
A night ride in the back of El Toro
The craziest part about the Zippin Pippin, it costs just $1 to ride! Get up here while you can youtube!
Go pack go
Great list! My list here is indcredibly controversual! I really prefer woodies there are out of controll and have a speciel charm. Thats why the prefabs are pretty low
1 Troy
2 Joris en de draak
3 Rutschebanen (Tivoli Gardens)
4 El Toro (Freizeitpark Plohn)
5 Colossos kamf der giganten
6 Wodan
7 Balder
8 Wickerman
9 Falken
10 Stampida
My favorite wooden coaster is still Thunderbolt at Kennywood.
Isnt goliath a rmc hybrid? Or do you mean the original before they made it to a hybrid?
I’ve only ridden 9 so I’ll just rank all of them.
1. Voyage, it is also my #1 overall
There is nothing conventional about this coaster (which in its case it works beautifully)
6. Timberhawk. Two words: smooth and boring.
7. Hoosier Hurricane. Two words: Rough and boring.
8. Raven. I don’t know if it’s just me. But this ride was hot garbage when I rode it this year (except that 5th drop, that was kick ass)
9. Wildcat (Lake Compounce) you know it’s bad when someone wants to forget about a coaster.
10. Legend. Wait a minute... Oh yeah, I didn’t get to ride Legend because the virtual queue was at a 3 HOUR wait. I’m still salty about it.
My top 3 are
1. Jack rabbit at kennywood
2. Racers at kennywood
3. Thunderbolt at kennywood
(I love Kennywood)
