Great comment, i think this deservers a pin
If it means less people then im down
Great america needs to do this so they can replace their clunky old sky trek tower and replace it with a big modern beautiful ferris wheel
Accurate.
@@mikethewhizz5085 I wonder if Navy Pier being relatively close has been a factor in SFGAm not getting a ferris wheel.
SFMM had so many parking lot coasters that they ran out of space for another parking lot coaster so they gave WCR parking lot theming
Very nice.
😂😂😂
LOL!
they should just put a giant intamin blitz in the "extended gravel lot" 😂😂😂
Do “The 20 BEST Parking Lots in the World” next lol
is there really no comments?
Number 1, the parking lot outside go harambaes exhibit
Hol up, you may be on to something 🤔
🤣🤣🤣
Hello fellow gd player
“some parks never bothered getting rid of the parking lines”
*cough* Six Flags *cough*
You would think they could at least do something by now to incorporate the parking lot into the coaster, like do graffiti art at spots where people tend to look at the ground. Or create permanent “sidewalk chalk” art. I mean I know Six Flags is cheap AF, but how much can some paint and a starving artist cost the company?
It’s theming for the coaster
Fury 325 is the best parking lot coaster. Not only is it built on a former bus parking lot, after it was built a large green space was converted into parking lot to view as you ride. Fury 325's relationship with parking spaces is it taketh and it giveth away!
And west coaster racers theme has A parking lot
Correction IS a parking lot
wait isn’t Fury kinda a parking lot coaster too
Ducksfan _11 I would say not quite a parking lot coaster compared with Leviathan since Levi literally sits next to the parking lot
@@ducksfan_1149 so is ghostrider kinda
Bluberry eh kinda but the main Knotts lot is on the other side of beach blvd
Takoda from coaster studios will be proud
The excitement of parking lot footage
What do parking lots feel?
Actually he's dead
@@woody72691 what?
woody72691 I haven’t found any evidence to prove that Takoda has died.
Mentions canobie lake park: OMG OMG ITS HAPPENING
doesn’t say it wrong: OMG HE DID IT. HE DIDNT BOTCH IT
G. G.
Me... a New England resident. I remember say-co Maine. And caNObie lake park.
@@tiedough7481 Your're from New England too, bro that's crazy I live a couple miles from Canobie Lake in New Hampshire myself
Obi Wan Canobie
I learn things
I literally laughed my head off when I saw the title.
Goliath at Six Flags Fiesta Texas actually dates back to 1995 where it operated at Thrill Valley in Japan as Gambit, until the park closed in 2002 and then the coaster was shipped to Six Flags New Orleans.
Video suggestion: top ten lift hill anti rollback sounds
YES
Number 1: Loch Ness Monster and other Arrow loopers.
@@DoswarePictures outlaw run and steel curtain as well
Iron Rattler because of its unique PTANG sound at the top.
Dosware Pictures arrow loopers have such a unique sound and are definitely my favorite
Even though not technically a parking lot coaster, Shivering Timbers at Michigan's Adventure is really awesome to see as you enter the parking lot
You have no idea how excited I was to see my actual home park on here. Yankee Cannonball is so underrated in the coaster community... mostly because not many have ridden it.
Growing up with Lagoon as my home park, it was always fun riding past it through the year and see the different rides set up by the parking lots. Even if we never were going that day that was still a blast. The old Roller Coaster still has a soft spot in my heart even if it seems quaint now.
Never thought I'd see my home park show up for quite a while lol
Glad Canobie landed at #15, and fun fact, the main maintenance shed is right underneath the coaster too, I had to walk under it whenever I came in for work
My first real coaster growing up
Also fun fact, the owner would always park his dumb huge ass Rolls Royce right by the punch in clocks
My third ever coaster, my first was the dragon coaster by the Turkish twist, and my second was the Galaxy coaster that i was afraid would fall apart as you road it...
Glad he said the Yankee cannonball, and glad he actually said Canobie Lake Park correctly this time...
@@bigc1280 My first coaster was the Corkscrew. I was petrified of Galaxy for the reason you mentioned and never rode it. My second coaster ended up being Superman at Six Flags New England.
I don’t think Afterburn and Fury 325 are considered “parking lot coaster” but idk.
Edit : Yeah, that works
Fury definitely is. The first drop and helix is right where the bus parking lot was.
Could mamba at worlds of fun be considered as a parking lot coaster since the airtime hills sit right next to the oceans of fun parking lot
@@jaxsonzatech7527 yea, but the drop hangs over part of the parking lot and I’m not sure if it removed any of it
I'm so used to hearing about your personal experiences with coasters in your videos, so as of 2020, that means typically North American coasters. Hearing you bring up Hyperion and Silver Star really caught me off guard, but its certainly something I'd love to see more of!
Especially so if you manage to get to Energylandia next year. I would love to hear your thoughts on how Zadra stands up to Steel Vengeance
Yeah this one i reached out to everyone to nominate coasters around the world
I went through some 400 comments on one of your older videos.. and you responded to tons of them. Thank you for taking the time to look at comments, imo it makes your videos the most engaging of any coaster youtuber. plus, your content is much more creative than some of the bigger channels. I hope to see a day when you pass Taylor in subs, in my opinion he’s been resting on his laurels for a few years now, but you’re pushing creative videos every week. that’s amazing.
Thanks for the kind words, i try to keep people coming back and noy get stale
Love that my home park has some good parking lot coasters!!!
There are no parking lots in Planco though. Well... unless you build them I guess
Micycles Lol i was talking about Lagoon lol
Yankee Cannonball was one of my suggestions! It's airtime is actually insane and it's beyond underrated. Awesome video like usual!
I know that DCA used to be Disneyland's parking lot but it's hilarious to hear it be called a "parking lot park." 🤣🤣🤣
I think that's an even more hurtful term than "budget park." Chris, you're a legend.
Yankee Cannonball is legit insane! It has amazing sustained floater!
Never thought about Kingda Ka as a parking lot coaster, I was there recently as well, I always thought green lantern was for sure
As someone whose home park is Lagoon, I never thought about how many of our coasters are in the parking lot....
JACKSON TWEDE and Colossus.
Dang man, you’re so good I laughed before even watching the video.
New drinking game: take a shot Everytime he says "parking lot"
Would Ghost Rider at Knott's Berry Farm be considered a parking lot coaster?
Brad Emge Yes, it would. Knott’s has to reconfigure the California Marketplace AND the short term parking lot to accommodate Ghostrider.
Yep
Yeah you could make a strong argument
I’d say so and should maybe be top 10
I think “DC Rivals” at MovieWorld has some main supports/struts of the coaster over the road and into the car park (parking lot) which seemed kinda cool.
You are the best at coming up with random coaster countdowns that are always worthwhile lol
From now on coasters shall only be built on parking lots
Thanks obama
obama alert ya
In my opinion the best setting of a coaster will always be the woods. And kings island is my home park so it’s a win - win.
That's fair. While I can appreciate a good ride through the woods (though, admittedly, I haven't been able to ride something that fits that description), my personal favorite setting is around the pathways. Prominently displaying the ride as it soars right over the heads of potential riders, dipping and diving to entice guests to join in the experience. Personal highlights: Hulk (Launch -> zero-g-roll -> Cobra roll -> Tunnel -> Vertical loop), Manta (Turn over water, Lift hill -> drop -> pretzel loop), Mako (the U-turn into the station), Montu (Immelmann near path), Kumba (Double corkscrews), Practically every outdoor coaster except Silver Star and the kiddie coasters at Europa Park (Honestly, Mack Rides are masters at making visually pleasing coasters). My affinity for coaster presentation probably has to do with the fact that I grew up going to Florida parks that are just filled to the brim with this type of thing.
I was confused when I saw the title but then I realized that this was an awesome video! Good job Airtime Thrills!
I would categorize Ghost Rider at Knott's as a top tier parking lot coaster, depending on what you would define as their parking lot
The late Shockwave at Six Flags Great America was built on a parking lot.
Petition for when Chris becomes a millionaire to open up his own park
IMAGINE
And put a Skyrush clone and a Green Lantern clone there
Signed
I’m convinced you’ll never run out of video ideas
I have a ginormous list ive barely touched
A good idea for a video might be the 20 best unique coaster locations within theme parks. The MotoCoaster at Six Flags Darien Lake was built over two swimming pools, and you can still see marks on the pavement showing the depth of the pool while in line.
I was thinking to myself:
Goliath at my home park is a great parking lot coaster in my opinion tho since no one cares about La Ronde it probably won't be included
I was so happy whe you mentioned it
ah, someone else with the misfortune of having La Ronde as their home park I see
I'm very happy with how Amusement Insiders reviewed it you should check it out
@@al0742 "most underrated theme park ever" considering how much hate it gets, that sounds like a pretty great video to watch. See something different for once in a while, you know? Thanks for recommending it!
Was waiting for X but fair point. Twisted Colossus dueling is probably the most fun coaster I've ever been on, so it must be the ultimate parking lot coaster
Yankee cannonball is the best ride at my home park! It’s really fun and has solid airtime
It’s sad to think that some of these parks can’t expand without going into their parking lots of removing rides. The age of parking lot coasters may be upon us!
0:37 Right Behind:
1. SCREAM!
2. BS Parking Lot
I was able to get on Silver Star last year, and yeah, I could tell it's a Parking Lot coaster. That being said, first of all, it's already directly themed to Mercedes-Benz, a car company (hence the name: Silver Star, referencing Mercedes-Benz's logo) so it's location on a parking lot could, theoretically, be considered "theming."
Canobie Lake was my home park growing up and the Yankee Cannonball was my first non-kiddie credit, so it’s nice to see them getting some love! You should try to get out there when you have a chance - the park may be low on coasters, but it’s overflowing with family-run charm. Only a couple of hours from SFNE as well if you want to make a trip of it.
Excalibur at Funtown Splashtown in Saco, ME, has its lift hill next to the parking lot, and the rest of its layout is hidden in the woods. I got to ride it in 2021 and had a lot of fun doing so!
I had no idea how much I needed this video. Super creative idea
You took me so off guard when you mentioned my home park😂
The three candidates for the best roller coaster in Canada are Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland, Coaster at Playland, and Mindbender at Galaxyland. Mindbender is definitely the most intense of the three, being a Schwarzkopf looper, and it's probably the most intense indoor roller coaster in the world.
Great adventure with 2 of the 20 and an honorable mention. Parking lot coaster Valhalla!
Sometimes, the parking lot coasters are the first rides I go on.
Apollo’s Chariot since October 2017 and Dominator in 2018.
I’ve been waiting so long for the Santa Clarita Diet reference in an actual theme park video!
Six Flags when there is literally no space: *parking lot noises*
*Honks in car horn*
Great Video! Always proud to see the Wisconsin Dells mentioned!
At Blackpool pleasure beach they have really made the most of the park. It is only 17 hectares and they managed to fit 10 rollercoasters and many more attractions.
Shivering Timbers at Michigans adventure
Agreed. I'm surprised that didn't make the list
I think the real challenge is discovering which Six Flags parks that don't have a parking lot coaster. 😁
4:34 The Yankee Cannonball's turnaround literally has a big sign on it that says "FREE PARKING". Good ride. It has had seatbelts in addition to the buzzbars for a while.
A thing I realized more recently is that the Yankee Cannonball has *always* been a parking-lot coaster, ever since 1936--it was perhaps one of the ur-parking-lot coasters, built immediately after the trolley line that originally justified the existence of Canobie Lake Park was ripped out and they had to adjust to the new age of the automobile.
The Great American Scream Machine will always be my favorite parking lot coaster
The Beast wooden coaster at Kings Island I have rode that thing about 7000 times hands-down awesome
HEY! About time you gave my favorite roller coaster some love! I KNOW the park layout like the back of my hand. I can RUN to this roller coaster without much trouble at all! LET'S GO TITAN! :D
i knew titan would be #20 lol. such an eyesore! i feel like you’re riding through an old junkyard. at least i gray out on those double helixes so i don’t have to always look at the scenery
Black Mamba at Phantasia was build on a parking lot, but they themed it extremely well
When you have no space in your Planet Coaster park so the parking lot is the only place you can put a new ride:
Sounds like something I would do
What about Ghost Rider at Knott’s Berry Farm?! Can you make a list on your favorite GCI Wooden Roller Coasters?! ❤️
Okay, can we get a 20 best coaster parking lots now?
Canobie lake park, you finally pronounced it right!
It is my home park...
Uhmmmm Wouldn't Ghost Rider Be Considered a Parking Lot Coaster?
My question exactly 👍🤘
Montezooma’s Revenge at Knott’s Berry Farm used to be a parking lot coaster until the built Camp Snoopy on that part of the parking lot.
Corkscrew at Rainbows End New Zealand. It’s a copy paste of the American classic, slightly modified to squeeze among motorways that border the park. The other coaster at the park “goldrush “ is the complete opposite of a parking lot coaster. Check them out! 😁
I can't believe you make such great content so fast!
Editing improved! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 love the music and the text pop-ups, we’ll done and great content as always.
I always considered Ghost Rider at Knotts Berry Farm somewhat of a parking lot coaster since it juts out into the marketplace parking lot
Yeah thats a strong case
The double disrespect for Scream at the intro was perfect. When they put that in Magic Mountain I was amazed at how lazy it felt compared to the other pristine rides of that park.
EDIT: Make that triple disrespect haha
Silver Star works really well as a parking lot coaster, as it is fantastic at hyping you up when you arrive at the park; especially if it's already running. And you walk right next to it all the way to the ticket booths
I liked this presentation that you've put together, wow Lagoon had two and two more that kinda weren't mentioned. I like these coasters for sure.
The Meg Griffins of the coaster world😂😂😂 Chris is a legend
That shit killed me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love yelling at and waving too the people in the parking lot from Roller coaster. I think it adds to the charm.
According to the definition used here it does not count because it was not actually installed in or near a parking lot, but El Torro was designed to be a plug and play coaster that just needs a flat piece of land. I've heard it referred to as a "parking lot style" coaster.
X2 is a parking lot coaster as well..
it gobbled up a good chunk of the valet parking lot..
🚗🚙
X2 also has a small parking lot right next to it as well. I think it is for valet as it is always high end cars in it. But I saw Twisted Colossus coming as #1. Interesting list.
4:12 “They said “Save the Whizzer”, so Shockwave became Chopped Liver!” -SFGA, located on a tombstone during Fright Fest.
New List Idea:
Freeway Coasters
Examples:
Ragin Cajun - Dixie Landing (home park and obvious example)
Shock Wave - SFOT (previous home park and even more obvious example)
Wild Thing - Valley Fair
Mamba - Worlds of Fun
Go nuts...
I think American Eagle also makes the cut
Cedar Fair: We have the best parking lot coasters!
Seaworld: No we do!
Amateurs
Both: what was that, punk?
Six Flags: AMATEURS
Talon at Dorney is a good one, but it's right next to the parking lot, not on it. Possessed (Dorney as well) is right next to the small access road leading to the parking lot
number 1 : Green Lantern at six flags Great adventure
(Edit) also 3:37 pretty much sums up intamen
You missed another New England wooden coaster. Excalibur at Funtown Splashtown in Saco Maine . I is mostly in the woods, however the lift hill and the first turnaround are both in the parking lot and you can get great pics of the coaster from there
Great list Chris! The vid is great! The coaster are awesome LoL! And the edits, spectacular. Overall perfect vid. Ur the best coaster YT! Road to 43k subs! :)
Seeing the Dominator as a parking lot coaster is so sad remembering how gorgeous it was lakeside.
@@RM-jo8gy It's a great one! I miss growing up with it and it being a super short wait.
I want to visit Discovery Kingdom. I think that's the only Cali theme park I haven't visited yet and Hades 360 is on my coaster bucket list
Really awesome spot for Leviathan. I believe it's the tallest in Canada. You have a great list here. I would love to ride all of them. Very entertaining, thank you.
Twisted Colossus is extremely fun but the one dipping under the parking lot should be #1 parking lot coaster just based on how they used it with the parking lot.
One of my favorite dumb things about TwiCol is you can still see parking lines from before it was was even built as Colossus. I would’ve thought 40 years of sun and the occasional rain would’ve made them next to unnoticeable but it got a laugh out of me to see them
Superman at SFGA has grass under it, but shockwave used to have asphalt under it like scream.
I didn’t know La Ronde was that close to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. I was vaguely planning an Indy 500/Canadian GP/Coaster trip and that would definitely cut down travel time.
I combined the Canadian Grand Prix and La Ronde in 2019. I even toyed with the idea of using La Ronde's parking lot when visiting the track, but ultimately using the subway and walking a bit seemed like the better option to get to the track.
Duyster that’s good to know, thanks.
both islands were mostly man-made/modified for the 1967 world expo. The location is both a blessing and a curse; on one hand, it's one of the best locations for a park and a race track because of how picturesque the area is and the fact you're right next to downtown Montreal, but on the other hand, you have zero space to work with
plazasta I knew about the track I just didn’t know about the park, and my home park has nowhere to work with either but still managed to get a hyper in the 90s.
@@katashworth41 as a curiosity, which is your home park?
I should take a drink everytime you say Parking Lot when I turn 21 LOL.
That Barney Stinson quote was Legend
Edit: Wait for it
Edit: Dary!
Starts video with clips of Voyage after finally getting those trimless rides, I see you
Some of these I didn't even know, Great video mate
Im glad Yankee Cannonball got some love on this list. Ive been on it some and it gives some surprisingly decent airtime.
That intro was hilarious
