- That little puppy sounds like an awkward grown man, doesn't he? Doug takes a look at Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure to see if the rest of the film is this uncomfortable.

I mean, with the age thing, I don't think dogs care.
Didn't Doug say a year went by? Scamp's prob about a year old then, which is still considered puppyish (2 years is adult). The other dog is prob a Pomeranian mix (color, tail shape, etc.), and Poms are small as shit. Other than her having puppy-like features, she could be an adult dog.
I thought Scamp was supposed to be a young teen, considering that's a close enough equivalent to 1 year for dogs. Angel is probably hovering between his age and the junkyard leader's age to make it acceptable either way.
heres my oppinion
who cares
He's a bit small for a year-old puppy. At a year, aren't they almost full grown just kind of gangly and have a puppy personality? (Like, I can tell if a dog I see in the street is a nearly full-grown puppy, but it's not based on his size.)
Then again, Lady is a smaller breed, so possibly Scamp does only have a little bit of growing left to do and he'll just never really be a big dog. I could see Scamp being one year, the Pom being twoish and the Rottie being threeish or something... but I haven't seen the movie to know what the Rottie's deal is to know if that's even possible. She's got puppy features, so I don't want to say she's more than two, but five homes in two years for a puppy is a bit hard to believe. Puppies don't have trouble finding homes like adult dogs. Then again, if she kept getting picked up by owners who don't realise the responsibility of dog ownership who keep changing their mind after they get her, as a puppy she would get picked up by a new owner after the previous' abandoning her very fast. That happening four damn times though is a bit of a stretch. Again, haven't seen the movie.
As a guy who has owned multiple dogs, I can tell you that puppy age is when dogs are obviously the worst behaved, so while a stretch to be 4 or 5, I could see her going through multiple families who just underestimate the responsibility having any pet, much less a dog, would require.
I think Scamp is supposed to be equivalent to a teenager. Again, it's hard to tell though.
That was always my assumption. Keep in mind, his mother is a smaller dog so there's a chance she and Tramp's pups wouldn't be as big as their father. Further, as stated, we don't know WHAT Angel's breed is. As a kid, I always assumed (in human years) that Scamp was in early teens, Angel was in her late teens and Buster was well into his adulthood. That way, Angel being the love interest of two dogs far apart in years made enough sense.
LeoP2008 That was my assumption as well. However, does it really matter how old Angel is? They're dogs; they hump anything/everything once they're old enough.
Dogs become sexually active with 5-18 Months depending on size (large = later). So he could be a young adult while she is an adult. I see nothing wrong with that relationship.
LoL!! Well, no. BUT, keep in mind, this is Disney. For instance, take the Lion King Series. It has a HUGE cult following (myself included). Obviously, lions age differently than humans. But, to make the complex age dynamics work, people often rationalize how old they are by "our" standards.
*warning!! I'm about to go full Disney nerd to make a point!!*
So, in The Lion King, we surmise that Simba and Nala are the same age as they grew up together and were betrothed. Mufasa wouldn't betroth his only son to an older lioness so he chose one close enough in Simba's age. BUT, in Simba's Pride, Kiara is NOT betrothed...to anyone. Not even another pride. Thus, no male lions of her age in the pride at the time. Only Kovu could even begin to fit the bill but he was exiled. Thus, we must figure his age based on the exile timeline. I surmise Kovu is atleast 3-5 human years older than Kiara as he was an infant when he and his family were exiled BUT was also old enough to have some memory of it. Further, Kiara was born AFTER the exile of the Outlanders so she was surprised to learn of what happened while other animals were well aware. And, if The Lion Guard is taken into account, Kovu and Kiara may be atleast 4 human years apart as by Kion's birth, NO animals know of the exile. It's news to pretty much any animal that isn't connected to the royal family.
Taking this into account, I'd say by Simba's Pride, Kovu would be the equivalent of a 22-year-old man, Kiara would be 18 (as she went on her first hunt, signalling adulthood), and Kion would need to be at most 16.
I say all this to show how much thought Disney fanatics put into the lore. In reality, they're friggin' lions in a kid's show, so who cares. But, while I've never met a Lady and the Tramp fanatic, I'm sure someone's put that same level of thought into the "lore"....
I have! I love this movie, and it really takes very simple math and a little dog know-how to find out how old everyone is:
Scamp is about 6-8 months old. They were already walking around and chewing things around Christmas in the first movie, so that could be anywhere from 3-6 weeks old. And it's around Fourth of July in the second movie. So yeah, he is the equivalent of a teenager, which matches with the "running away from home" and "first love" kind of thing.
Angel could be a small breed or mix, like a Pomeranian of some sort (the fluffiness and the curly tail and the shape of the snout), so it could be difficult to tell her age. Sadly, I have heard of cases of dogs who were adopted and then unadopted or abandoned just DAYS after the adoption. So yeah, she could be around 2 or 3 years old (I'm leaning more on the 2 years, though), which in human years roughly translates to early twenties. Enough that she has been through five families, enough that a teenage dog such as Scamp could build a romance with her, and also enough that an older dog like Buster (the Doberman) would still hit on her, kind of like a "forty year old trying to get a twenty year old".
Also, the dogs' ages don't really matter much: in the first movie Tramp was already a grownup dog (I'm guessing four or five because he's clearly used to the streets but was still spry and agile, unlike Jock or Trusty, who are clearly in the human equivalent of their fifties; so Tramp is somewhere in his early to mid-thirties) when he met Lady, who had "just turned into a grown lady" according to what Jim Dear says when he sees her new collar. In the Disney Wikia, it says that she was just six months old when she got her collar and plaque. She was very young, a debutante, which in the time the events are unfolding could be as young as sixteen to eighteen. This age also matches Scamp's age in the second movie, but larger breeds tend to age a little slow in comparison to small breeds (like my Labrador Retriever still looked like a puppy at 6 months old, but my aunt's Poodle already looked like an adult dog at the same age).
So yeah, roughly in human years:
-Tramp: 30-ish (1st film) to 40-ish (2nd film)
-Lady: 18-ish (1st film) to 30-ish (2nd film)
-Jock and Trusty: 50-ish (1st film) to 60 or even 70-ish (2nd film) with Trusty being clearly coded as older, or at least more aged by his hound/police dog lifestyle as opposed to Jock's aristocratic lifestyle
-Scamp: 15-18 ish
-Angel: 20-ish
-Buster: 45-ish
So Doug didn't notice how many human faces are in this one compared to the original?
Yeah, especially how much of a big deal he made about being able to see the Ounceler's face in The Lorax.
Domidium: To be fair, THE ONCELER was the main character.
domidium to be fair, the Once-ler was something deliberately kept a mystery in the original for most of it. And he was a major character, the humans here are pretty much just side characters.
Yes, and that's part of the narrative. It's meant to be from a dog's perspective.
Weird thing is, I somehow knew Jim had a mustache before I watched this. Maybe that's because ALL men had mustaches back then.
We are slowly getting to Hunchback 2. Can't wait.
ruthiehenshallfan99, it's coming
My body is ready.
I hope he's relentless on it. It deserves all the bashing it gets.

***** If he did that, I would be so psyched. I mean it's not like that's not possible he has done that before with other Disney films. Hocus Pocus is the first one I can remember from the top of my head.
"You can't be that young and go through 5 families"
As someone who fosters dogs, trust me when I say yes, yes you can
One of our own dogs was returned twice before we adopted her, and she was 4 months old at the time
Seconding this. I work at a veterinary hospital, and we occasionally foster animals that were found by clients. There's one dog who, at the time of this writing, is only about nine months old. He was adopted five times, and returned five times. His most recent place seems to be working out for him so far, though. *fingers crossed*
their dogs lol there isn't no rule lol, in the animal kingdom as weird as it sound haha, i once had a few guinea pigs and i had to separate the daughter and father. Because no one in the right mind can handle that kind of stuff. Even if is in their nature lol.
It's actually NOT real life.
A year later, did it worked? :D
I feel bad for the dog, but I'm glad they eventually found a forever home.
I can't stand adults voicing animated kids, unless they can actually sound like a kid.
Clarance doesn't sound that bad.
If an adult has to voice a kid, it sometimes fits to have a woman voice a little boy. Having a man voice a little boy tends to be kinda creepy if he tries, or jarring like in this film when he talks normally...
Fun fact, every kid in anime is voiced by an adult.
Thank god for Tara Strong.
Crazy Horse 9000 yeah. They did that for "The Lorax" too. Just...why?
Is she a puppy or is she a dog?
I'm pretty sure she's a cougar.
Psychronia I think she's a gold digga.
she ain't messin' with no broke broke
TheZapingNinja Infinity Just thought you should know, nigga.
Vault - Boy She ain't messing with no broke *!**#.
Maybe she's a vampire like the film "Let Me In"
she was kicked out 5 times,
she's looks young but at the same time she's is older then everyone else....
Or she was kicked out 5 times under one month,
and that older dog Doberman maybe he's a young dog too?
(heck I was told a dog that big can be a pup still)
Heck maybe Angel is middle age between Scamp and Buster
I don't know.... that's my theory ... the 2nd one, not the first.
but you can take the first theory if you like.
I used to see this movie all the time when I was a kid. Anyone else?
I did too! I still own the dvd, though I haven't seen it in a long time.
rainbowx1994, I have it on VHS
Same strangely enough, I don't think I even owned the original.
I have both the VHS in the most recent DVD/Blu-ray release of this-but then again of course I would if I'm a big fan of Lady and the tramp to the point where I say is my favorite movie much less favorite Disney movie
Yup.
"Angel took Scamp under her wing.." ....clever pun?
Unintentional pun more likely
Wow. You can tell Doug doesn't own a dog!! Again with the pet-judice.
what "pet-judice"?
andrewkful your icon matches your comment perfectly 😂
"Wow I don't know WHY they put this much effort into the animation, with it being JUST ABOUT DOGS, n all!"
andrewkful you're looking into it way too much, he's just referring to the fact that Lady and the Tramp is a smaller scale Disney story, not a grand, sweeping epic like the Lion King for instance.
Well, i don't recall him liking aristocats that much either
Doug not to break your heart, but my dog went through 3 families before I adopted him.
And he was only six-months old.
ya i find the 5 family thing not a strech because honestly a alot fo people who get a "cute little puppy" either get it for the wrong reasons or dont know anything about raising a puppy and get rid of it becuase its hard work
did your dog have an adult dog calling it his girl?
I've had my older male dog hump my younger female dog once she was big enough to not be crushed
Luckily she was spayed
ok
I think Scamp is supposed to be 16-ish, Angel is supposed to be 19-ish, and the gang leader is an adult. Then again, dog years complicate things
Then the doberman and (lady and tramp) are more than likely 24 but lol dogs don't care
I always figured Scamp was teenagerish. Angel was somewhere around late teen/ young adult. As for Lady and Tramp, I think there's a bigger age gap between them.
Um... dogs live to be about 15 and usually reach adulthood at around 2. I'd say that scamp is one and a half years and the girl dog has been an adult for maybe a few months.
I'm sure they know that. They were just using human years to make better sense of it.
Dog years, genius. They were using the human equivalent of where a dog would be at those ages, because most people don't know what a one and a half year old dog translates to once you've given that dog HUMAN characteristics.
Also, there ARE outliers. I know of a dog that's currently sixteen and still kicking.
Kinda freaky that this is beat-for-beat what the plot of the last movie, Little Mermaid 2, was.
A lot of disney sequels did that, this one is a little more original where as the last one was sort of a retelling of the first little mermaid.
RetlocLive to be fair, this film did it better.
It is, but doesn't make the same mistakes.
It's more like Homeward Bound 2 than anything else. Even the lead female characters look similar!
I really wasn't crazy about the whole "reverse the script with the kids but keep the character motivations" idea. I remember after seeing this and TLM2 being worried that they'd try that with Aladdin and Jasmine giving them a kid who wanted to be a street rat (I mean, the fact that it would be "1st World Problems: Special Snowflake Syndrome" the movie is not one I like)
Everyone is trying to figure out age while I'm over here trying to figure out how does the rottweiler bang Angel? He's like 6 ft high and she's like 2 ft high. She'd have to get on a kitchen table to be at junk level and even then wouldn't he be too big to fit?
......STOP JUDGING ME! ITS DISNEY'S FAULT!
The Dynast Queen I think that's a Doberman not a Rotti,
HyperTurtleGaming he's probably a mix of a dobie and rottie
Male make chiwawah tried to mate with my female husky before, it is a sad, sad story.
The Dynast Queen Oh believe me, when it comes to dogs and mating, size doesn't matter to them. Unfortunately for some smaller female dogs this can lead to some serious complications, depending on how big the male partner is.
Yeah it could be a doberman/rottweiler mix but that's besides the point, guys.
+Éowyn Bates
Oh god.

"One of them, named Angel... takes him under her *wing.*"
What a knee-slapper.
Angel is kind of like a foster kid. They talk about her dealing with home instability and leading her to an outside/runaway life. Even if you view her with a human age equivalency her story makes sense if you are talking about a teenager in foster care.
Is it just me, or is Angel adorable?
Yes she is. I'd like to eat her!
Meeeeeeee i think she soooooooo cute what a BEAUTIFUL angel OwO❤
Congrats, you're a furry now!
@@SolarisKane Bit late, haha.
100% agreed.
Literally the 1st time I ever reset the subscriptions box for this.
But anyways, this is just Little Mermaid II but in Lady and Tramp version.
Atlantis 2: Milo returns
julie martinez I actually liked The Little mermaid 2. The little mermaid 3 was the one that sucked.
same here. it was one of the first movies i've ever watched. sure, it has flaws but come on, tara strong voices the main character. you can't go wrong with that.
Rob Bob I'll have to disagree... This sequel had some kind of feeling in it and The little mermaids sequel had none.
Of course its not as great as the first, but it was pretty good for a sequel.
Comet Star Actually, coming to think of it, I was a bit harsh with it. It sure has a lot of nice stuffs, but my big problem is Scamp himself, who is kinda an annoying character. Yeah, he's a puppy (or so they say), but he's also as obnoxious as the Will Smith fish.
I think I actually watched this one more as a kid than the original.
Emma Sol Same
I did not even know about this one until just now. I don't know what rock I have been under but I feel sad now.
Emma, you're not the only one
I did too. This and The Little Mermaid II
There is a Little Mermaid II? I need to be able to move the rock once in a while.
Lady and the Trump II: STRANGER DANGER! STRANGER DANGER!
Nazrat84 PANIC!!!! PANIC!!!!! PANIC!!!!
BAD TOUCH BAD TOUCH!!!
"I swear, Your Honor -- I thought he was one!"
John Clavis ew, dogs don't age that quick, do they?
wait... lady and the trump?.. TRUMP?
Of all the Disney sequels, this is the one I remember most fondly. Glad Doug wasn't too harsh on it.
I've seen Lady and The Tramp II and it's not as AWFUL as The Fox and The Hound II or 101 Dalmations II Patch's London Adventure but it's not as good as The original Lady and The Tramp either. Half the charm of the original is gone Don't get me wrong there's still some charm in Lady and The Tramp II but there's not much and It's pretty much beat for beat the original while also taking it's cues from The Little Mermaid Return to The Sea.

With the exception of Scamp’s voice sounded like he already hit puberty. Is that how kids nowadays sound like grown adult?
This film was my childhood
I have a soft spot for it as it was the only kids movie my grandma owned, meaning I had to watch it when we visited her, so I have a soft spot for it.
Animals don't have an age of consent Doug they operate udner Sailor Moon logic.
"Lady and the Tramp" - sounds like America's elections...
lol
aww, I wanna see Trump/Hillary Meatball Dating SCENE NOW!
***** I actually meant Hillary. Cool username though. Almost as cool as mine😎 jk
Lady and the Trump
except in the election, the lady IS the tramp
If you think about it, Angel is probably a teenager. 14 year old (if human) Scamp has a crush on the 16-17 year old girl, who has been claimed by a 19-21 year old jackass.
He's definitely NOT a child, and I think you're trying to see him as if he was a 6 or 7 year old kid, when he's not supposed to be. He's going through a rebellious stage, which is usually somewhere in the early teens, so I think the story and voice both fit.
I think it’s supposed to be a Younger and Older relationship
When I saw the title of the video, I thought it read Lady and the Trump II.
It'd still be about a man-voiced baby fighting a racial stereotype over a little girl though.
Amazing! XD
Eleven?
Its roman numerals
EeveeParty97 He typed II (two capital i's) not 11 (two ones)
Nah, Cinemasnob will handle that one.
I always got the impression that Scamp and Angel were supposed to be teenagers in dog years.
So I'm guessing 2-3 years old...leaning more towards 2 which puts them at around 14 I think...and between that and 21 (so they might be a little older then 2 years)...
looking at the baby in this movie...it would make sense as it looks like the baby is about 2 years old (it was a newborn in the 1st)
Disney was going to make Hercules 2, Dumbo 2, Mulan 3, Aristocats 2, Jungle Book 3, Pinocchio 2, Chicken Little 2 and Meet the Robinsons 2. There were even plans of making sequels to Pixar films without Pixar. You can thank John Lasseter those never happen.
The Dumbo sequel actually seemed really interesting. An actual shame that was canned.
Zachary Kerman also Aladdin 4 was also planned before Disney stopped doing these sequels.
Zachary Kerman Now we're just getting Frozen 2, Wreck-It Ralph 2, Cars 3 and Toy Story 4. Yeah, much better... /s
But on the bright side, we're also getting The Incredibles 2... in 2018...
You could say...Planes isn't Pixar sequels to Cars. Techinally I saw advertising just saying {Disney} and leaving the name pixar out but it still is tied with Cars Cinamatic universe ^-^
This is one of my favorite Disney sequels, TBH. It might just be Nostalgia Goggles, but I always found it charming.
The thing that always bugged me about this is that you see the humans' faces. Even as a kid I picked up on that in the original, and seeing "Darling" and "Jim-Dear's" faces was so jarring.
AardvarkLord Right?? And it's not even a build up, it's literally the first scene.
AardvarkLord That bugged me too. You never saw them in the first movie and that was what bugged me. I just didn't like how they threw that out the window and made you see it.
Lady and the Tramp 2 was one of my favorite videos as a kid. Ah, the memories...
Ive been a hopeless romantic since I was a child and I remember LOVING this one because I liked the puppies' relationship.
yarpen26 I havent seen it for so long that I cant say so your opinion stands unchallenged. :P
Awe, I felt the exact same way. This movie sparked my imagination far more than the original.
This is one of the best straight to video Disney sequels. Not great, but pretty good!
I always figured out Scamp was a pre-teen or young teenager.
Same, I really hope the lead dog isn't a furry pedo
me too that's how I explain Scott Wolf
@@MrGabeanator Billy Lee from Double Dragon.
@@AlexAceves1994 yep
You forgot Aladdin 5: jafar answers the census
I remember really liking this movie as a kid.
If I'm not mistaken. Scamp was based off the comic series started back in '55.
You're right actually, and so were his siblings. Though, their genders and names were different
i watched this on vhs all. the. time. as a kid.
same
This film seems like a nice little sequel to a quirky yet somewhat quiet movie.
I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be teenagers.
this is probably one of the only Disney direct to DVD sequels I liked.
I understand
I remember how Lindsay Elis points out how you rarely see a human's face in the original movie. There's a lot of things like that through out Lady and the Tramp 2 that make it feel like the filmmakers don't really understand the original. Whatever, the animation looks the same. Just because it's animation doesn't give it a free pass to not use basic filmmaking techniques. I don't know, I'm not great at articulating these kinds of things, I just don't see how Doug thinks this is so much like the original.
ya u rarely saw humans heads in the orginal becuase it was from the point of view of the dogs
+zillafire101 In a way. I was mainly commenting on how a lot of the stylistic choices from the original Lady and the Tramp aren't really carried over correctly. Even the opening number, the original movie was very jazzy in it's soundtrack, and none of those songs were sung by lead characters. The opening song sounds very... Broadway. and it's stuff like that which makes me wonder why Doug would think "Wow, this is exactly like the original!"
I mean it’s 2001 for crying out loud. Animated know how to make human faces
I know that one of the producers told it was a dream to make a sequel
can't wait til he gets to the Fox and The Hound prequel/sequel.
Midquel
ColdfacekillerJr PSN Actually I think the term is interquel
I once tried watching it but had to stop. Beucase if I remember Tod And Copper became friends over one day (at least that's how the movie seemed to show it). the midsqueal shows if like they had a much long time to play together.
Oh God! PTSD right now! That movie is awful.
Oh god so much hatred for that movie. It's like it was like "remember how they didn't see each other for a couple seasons giving copper time to distance himself from his friendship with Todd? Yeeeeeea we're gonna piss all over that for a few musical numbers.
Actually i taught the dogs was adolescents, even their character is more like a teenager than a kid, they're rebel, confused, temperamental, why do you thinks they are puppy, only because they're small and cutie?
becuase he isnt remotely the size he should be if hes teenager ;/ and i swear in the movie they state it over and over he is one
They're probably supposed to be the dog-equivalent of teenagers, like, theoretically? But the animators made them really small because if they made them the size they should be, kids would have trouble understanding they were supposed to still be super young compared to the "adult" dogs
Well Scamp is a mixed breed and Angel is probably a small breed
If the mother is a small breed then the pups are more likely to be small, even if the father is a larger breed
I...always really loved scamp's voice 😅
Found it charming but I was a little kid and I loved scamp's character so much.
It dosnt fit right
His voice reminds me more of teenager kion from the lion guard.
This was the review I was most looking forward to because this was one of my absolute favourite movies as a kid, and it still holds a special place in my heart, and it makes me happy that you gave it some praise!
Also I think Scamp and Angel are the same age. I think they're supposed to be teenagers so it makes sense for them to still be referred to as puppies. Buster's interest in Angel was certainly weird, but we don't know how old HE is, he could only be a couple of years old for all we know. Dogs are weird when it comes to sex LOL. I think they had to make Scamp and Angel seem like teenagers so their romance wasn't that weird, hence why they have more adult voices xD
And the reason Disney puts so much effort into dog movies is simply because people like dogs, and Walt himself absolutely loved them. Lady and the Tramp exists as a love letter to dogs everywhere, and I think he even gave his own wife a puppy in the same way Jim Dear gave Lady to Darling. It's probably the best looking out of all the Disney sequels.
I can see what your going there. And Too add more they made a 101 Dalmatian Street show in 2019
I never thought of that, how is Buster an adult dog, attracted to Angel who is a puppy.
Lion King 2 was good,That is the only one ive seen and i only remember the song that has Simba and all the other animals kicking that Maybe scar`s son out of the kingdom.
Harry Thomas Pictures, because pedophilia
Harry Thomas Pictures
because at the most Buster is 8/9 years old and Angel is probably like 2/3, good enough for dogs
pupophilia
If a 50-60 year old religious judge grabbing a 20 year old woman and smelling her hair was acceptable for Disney, then I think they can get away with an older dog subtly lusting over a smaller female dog, that is not specified how much younger she is than him.
A lot of people tend to forget this but this isn't the first spin-off of Lady and The Tramp, Disney published a comic spin off in the 60s, which like this movie focused on their pups, in fact you could call this film an adaptation of the comic since it features the same love interest for their son. The comic was successful enough to last quite long and was translated to other languages.
Apparently it was made into a sequel
My dog had three families at 4 months, so I guess it's possible.
I'm SO happy Doug went easy on this film, since I honestly love it. Even more than the original! I can't really explain why, but it's just a lot of fun and I really loved it. I felt like it had a bit more heart than the first one, and it was just a lot more enjoyable. I'm glad Doug saw the good in it as well. Sure, it's not AMAZING, but I loved it for what it was.
I actually really liked this one as a kid. Not only did it have a really good story, the character of Scamp is very easy to relate to.
When I was a kid, I got into my fair share of trouble, and my parents were quite strict with me. I was forced to attend classes outside of school to improve my grades and learn more skills, and I hated it. Like Scamp, there are times when I dreamed of running away, of being free. But like Scamp, as life went on, I came to realize that my parents did the things they did because they loved me, and the place where I would truly feel at home, was with them.
Overall, a good disney sequel that teaches kids a valuable lesson.
Achillez Finally someone else agrees.
Yea I see that now thank you
Same I really relate to scamp
My biggest problem with this movie was the portrayal of the dog-catcher. That dude was played up to be evil, which was not how it was in the original.
That dogcatcher was CRAZY! One of the reasons why I never loved this sequel!
I see Scamp and Angel as pre-teens, not just by voice, but by personality. I Really enjoy this one, and I liked the review.
1:39 - 1:50 So... Toy Story 2?
HoopsAndDinoMan omg so tru😂😂😂
Holy crap your right!
I felt like Scamp and Angel were young teenagers. Like maybe 13 in human years.
I really liked the original Lady and the Tramp movie. This sequel was pretty disappointing.
i seen many of the disney sequels growing up and to be fair this one was one of the better ones
i liked lion king 2 as well and mermaid 2 was ok but i didnt like most fo the others and i hated the beauty and the beast ones
MegaSoulhero Agreed! Lady and the Tramp was my favorite movie growing up, and I really wanted to see a sequel starring her children. When I saw the trailer for this, I got so excited. I had my mom get it as soon as it came out and... I was really disappointed. Scamp was so annoying, the story is cliche, the original characters don't do anything, Jim dear seems a like a terrible owner (he chained up a puppy all night!) it retcons the first one. Just no!
I've read fanfics and and comics about Lady and the Tramp's kids and they are far better.
The first one was good, the second one was okay in my opinion.
I beg to differ
2:06
Wait a second, is that the Aristocats bridge? Where the butler leaves the cats to die?
Deep lore
Lucios1995 holy shit
Where did this one and the first take place?
New Haven I think? At least that's what the Disney wiki says.
Either way, whether she's a puppy or not, dogs don't care.
Billy Barnett I know. My dog had his first puppies when he was like a year and a half with a bitch dog of about 8 years old.
Real dogs also can't talk
+Jonas of Persia Woa. What a player.
I freaking loved this movie as a kid
There is a new bane to my existence. 5 second ads that have a skip button.
don't you mean the 30-second unskippable ones?
And that, my dear friends, is why I turned to the block side.
I almost started to shout major profanities when I got one that was over 5 minutes long and unskippable.
The things we do to support content creators...
This movie oddly has stayed with me for a long time just because of the facial animations. Occasionally they have very Don Bluth type emotional frames.
Here's a funny thing about me with Lady and the Tramp and the sequel probably last year. I had a first cousin once removed who kept constantly asking me to put on Lady and the Tramp. EVERY time he comes to visit (sometimes we had to babysit him) he keeps begging us to put it on for him. I tried to say no because we have seen it a hundred times but he still kept asking us to put it on. Within that time period, I thought to myself "If he likes Lady and the Tramp so much, maybe he will like the sequel". Now before the day I put that movie on for him, I didn't see Lady and the Tramp 2 for 14 years so it was kinda fresh in my mind when I was about to watch it. When I put it on, he had no interest. He didn't say anything about it, he just ignored it and went on to something else. I asked him to take a look at it but he just ignored me. I kept thinking to myself "What makes Lady and the Tramp super rewatchable to him that other animated films didn't?" Not even the Fox and the Hound got his attention.
I mean maybe he thought that it was those cheap Direct to DVD sequels that suck?
@@SirCorn65 I don't think that was the case cause he's the kind of person who likes childish and sometimes low production things like Thomas the Tank Engine, even in his teen years. Also, he has a condition that makes him have a limited vocabulary so we couldn't fully understand what he was saying or even thinking. He never told us why Lady and the Tramp was his number 1 movie compared to everything else.
not going to lie, loved this as a kid. I remember getting the plush of Scamp with the video.
SAME, that plush was always one of my most favourite toys
Well, even though I didn't really love this sequel, I remembered having a romote controlled Disney dog, I can't tell if it was Scamp or Tramp when he was a puppy but it was a walking-your-dog type of toy that has command buttons on the leash that can make Scamp/Tramp bark, walk, wag his tail, and pant.
This movie actually got me to shed several tears. The song when he gets swept up by the pound. I might have been highly emotional at the time already, but still, it happened.
That song is actually my favorite song in the movie. :)
Andrea Smeelie
Agreed, so many feels
***** I also REALLY love that song that Scamp sings before he runs away and the junkyard dog song too. Don't forget about the opening song and the love song between Scamp and Angel. Yet, my favorite will ALWAYS be Always There the song that plays when Scamp is sent to the pound.:) I always loved the family message in this movie. :)
Oh boy, the next 2 are going to be painful. Ok, Cinderella 2 does have some decent animation, but aside from that, it's like watching Belle's Magical World all over again, with 3 stories that really don't connect with each other. and Hunchback 2 is in the top 3 of worst Disney Sequels for me, because A. The animation is awful, B. The story is way too cutesy and nothing at all dark like the original, and C. Giving Quasimodo a love interest just because he didn't get the girl in original is a lame excuse for making such a God Awful sequel to arguably one of the best Disney films ever made.
Maybe they're teenage puppies...? Anyway I loved this movie
That's what I always thought
Yeah pretty sure we're right. They even make the sisters talk like typical teenage girls
Sammyyam Yeah. I think they're just small dogs. Or they're late bloomers :/
Yeah I was thinking the same lol :D love this movie too!
This is the first Disney Sequel that I saw.
Mine too!
My first sequel was 'The Lion King II: Simba's Pride'
I loved this movie and the original. Yes some stuff needs improved on but I still loved them
Scamp is supposed to be a 'teenager' in the film, hence the voice.
He seems too small to be a teenager
Unmeltable Snowman He will never be as big as his father. But he is clearly an adolescent. Either that or the Darlings' kid is the only infant in history who can speak in full sentences.
-Buster: 45-ish
this was quite the read. I have noticed that Angel resembles more of a German Spitz than a Pomeranian, though both breeds are part of the Spitz family (along with the Chinese Chow Chow, and a few other breeds I can't think of right now)
yeah you do have a point about bigger dog breeds aging slower than smaller breeds. I've based this on my trying to estimate the age of the puppies from 101 Dalmatians the series (even though the pups are depicted as acting like teenagers similarly to Scamp and Angel). I know in the cannon of the series it's reveal the pups are 101 days old which I estimated at roughly 3 months old in human years (which would make them 3 years old in dog years)anyhow in conclusion, I think Angel might be a German Spitz than a Pom, mainly cause she looks like a puppy more than a full grown adult dog. I could be wrong on that or she could be a Spitz mix than a Pom mix.
Oh shit Cinderella II is next, I'm so ready for him to rip it apart!
Jacob Noble, oh crap!
He should say how long it was....Was it two hours or just me?
Watching it thats how it felt like.
it's 70 minutes. most of the sequels are ridiculously short. some (like Hunchback II) just barely make it past feature length.
Hope he's got a hazmat suit handy
I loved this story when I was a kid. Especially the ragtime song. I still know the lyrics!
This is bland compared to the first one, in my opinion. Anyone agree?
Giovanni Orellana, I guess
Giovanni Orellana I saw this movie as a kid before I saw the first.
Crazy Horse 9000 Why?
Cat Karkosky I don't know :/
Giovanni Orellana Yeah, when I watched the movie, it felt like something totally different from the first movie that had a lot more shadows and was more atmospheric and less musical-ish.
I really love this movie
Raquel Rivera, I like it :)
maybe they made this movie like an anime where ages don't make sense
Can confirm. I watch anime.
Cartoon Critic me too
Like Pokemon where everyone stays in his age forever.?
Lazy Creepypasta like danganronpa?
Well Doug, you sold me on this one. I kinda wanna see it now. btw you owe me a sketchbook.
It's a joke. At a con, he ripped out half the pages on accident trying to give me an autograph.
Were the pages that loose or something, did it get dropped and caught by the pages? I mean, I can't even visualize how that could happen.
okamilover99999 bingo.
I'm just waiting for him to review Hunchback of Norte Dame II, and rip it apart!
I love this film (might be due to Nostalgia)
Didn't the original movie take place in Britain and they retconed the new film taking place in America just to have that fourth of july thing? I could be entirely wrong though
It's never outright stated but it's supposed to be a mid-western American town; supposedly inspired by Walt Disney's home town in Missouri
It's weird because the policeman in the original film looks like a bobby. There were some other stuff that through me off too like the old-timey cars, but I guess since it was a period movie it would make sense.
They both took place somewhere in New England, this is highlighted by the opening scene of this movie when the song lyrics say "Quiet little New England town.."
I always wondered how olf angel was. that junk yard dog leader needs chris hansen to bust his ass. this was one of my favorite disney sequels
Shan Shan Best response ever xD
LMFAO "you can't be that old in and out of 5 families!"
Bruh, how old IS Angel?
This was absolutely my favourite movie as a kid. I even named my dog, a miniature schnautzer, after Scamp. He's still alive to this day... somehow. I'm glad Doug pointed out its flaws but also admitted its stronger points.
I used to really like this movie as a kid! Pretty good then, still okay now.
Dear Mr. Nostalgia Critic and all his friends. Can you please review or do a video on the "Spectacular Spider-Man" cartoon series. It's a great series that was cut off way to soon. The characters are all amazing except for maybe 1 or 2, and there are a lot of characters. Though the animation is a bit lazy it isn't the meme generator Spider-Man 67 lazy. It's a fantastic series and I really want you to do a video on it and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.
I triple that!!
Donald Tramp.
generic username umm... What?
Donald tramp stamp

EeveeParty97 Hillary bitch
I think Scamp's suppose to be a teenager, this whole movie (and Little Mermaid 2) is about teenagers rebel. I've read people speculated Angel is the offspring of Tramp and that yellow dog that sings "He's a Tramp" she does look like a product of both
mnI Wouldn't that make her and Scamp half siblings? Ew.
dogs wouldnt care animals dont care if they even mate with their siblings are moms
She looks like a completely different species rather than a combination of both of them though...
You know what was a movie about a teenager who rebels? The Little Mermaid 1.
You're forgetting... this isn't real life. it's a Disney movie.
Scott Wolf and Alyssa Milano, is it supposed to be a Double Dragon Sequel?
Today people don't seem to know Scamp actually had a whole series of comic strips in the late 50s right after the original movie came out, which continued all the way to the late 80s, as well as some full comic books. He basically was the star of Lady & the Tramp's comic tie-ins and had a legacy on his own (I believe to this day he still gets some stories now and then in Holland, were they still semi-regularily print stories based on movie characters like Robin Hood, Little Mermaid, Basil etc. on Disney magazines, while most other countries only make stories set in the Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse universe)
So yeah, it's kinda weird to look at this as an adaptation of classic comics rather than your regular phoned in Disney sequel...
We’re there any changes between the movie and the comics and can you give me some examples
This was my favorite Disney sequel throughout my childhood because it always entertained me and i used to watch it a lot because of that.
My least favorite out of all the Disney sequels
Well, I never loved this sequel so my least favorite Disney sequel is 'The Little Mermaid II'
Fun fact: This is actually loosely based on a sequel comic strip to Lady and the Tramp called "Scamp". There's a LOT of changes in the movie:
1. Scamp is rambunctious and rebellious in the movie, whereas Scamp in the comics was more playful and would go out of his way to befriend any animal he came across like a cat or even a porcupine.
2. Unlike the movie where Scamp has three sisters (Danielle, Collette, and Annette), Scamp has two sisters (Fluffy and Ruffy) and a brother (Scooter).
3. In the movie, Scamp's love interest was Angel, a Pomeranian/Husky mix puppy who went through five foster homes while in the comic, his love interest was Chiffon, a dog of a similar breed who was already adopted.
Fun fact: Both the model and the voice of Ariel is in this film. Jodi Benson (who voiced Ariel) voices Lady and Alyssa Milano (who was the inspiration for Ariel's look) voices Angel.
As far as these dog sequels, I preferred Lady Tramp 2 to 101 Dalmations 2.
Anyone else, I heard people praise/like Dalmations 2, but I had a soft spot for this movie's characters.
I pity Doug if he has to watch any of those damn Tinker Bell movies.
Zachary Kerman Eh, they're not that bad, they're just obviously meant for a very young audience. They surprise you occasionally. I watched the Neverbeast movie with my kid sister and it actually had a surprisingly sad, mature ending - I was legit shocked that Disney went with it.
The only real beef I have with the films is that they ruin the Peter Pan continuity and Tinkerbell is practically a completely different character.
He's gonna do a couple of 'em apparently.
I was actually not expecting this positive of a reaction from Critic
My guess, the puppies were teenagers. However, Disney had to make them look like puppies because puppies make profits.
whitch is kind of sad cuz in lion king 2 the daughter was shown as a kid then a teen i dont see y the lady and the tramp one had to be puppies also they are puppies for sure becuase jin dears and darlings baby is not even a year old
Disney also did the same for 101 Dalmatians the series with the Dalmatian pups despite them being only 3 months old in human years.
trueloveis4u You do know that they look a little more bigger and a little taller than the ending of LATT
we are siamese if you please
The REVENGERS, meow
I hate this piece of stupidity with a passion. But hey, at least it's not as atrocious as return to neverland!
I actually own the DVD for this movie...
This was also one of the better Disney direct-to-video sequels imo. This along with An Extremely Goofy Movie were probably some of my favorites as a kid... although I still think the original Lady and the Tramp is one of the best Disney movies from that era despite Doug's apathy towards it.
Well dogs do age quickly, so in a year and some change Scamp will be half the size of his dad. Maybe the creators were thinking along those lines in regards to the love story, assuming Angel is indeed an adult dog
