I owned 2017 Sierra 1500 with the 5.3 liter engine and 8 speed transmission. I traded it in at 55000 miles for a RAM 5.7 liter Hemi. The a/c condenser went out at 20000 miles would have cost 3000.00 to fix. (Still under warrantee) The concern I had was the 8 speed transmission. It shifted really hard in 1 to 3 gear. There was an audible clunk and shudder. GM continually denied they have a problem with that transmission, although it is no longer available and if you go internet surfing you will see lots of sites complaining about the same issues I noted above. I will never buy another GM product.
I just replaced my transmission on my 2015 GMC Sierra Z71 4x4. Replaced all 4 shocks as well. Now it drives super. Damn smooth. Like it’s brand new. Shifts are smooth as butter 🧈. I had a super duty transmission installed.
@@Lonewolf-mw4bv no it wasn’t shaking before the suspension work. But the shocks were old and needed to be replaced. They were squeaking and didn’t sound good. Now it’s quiet

2014 gmc Denali 6.2, 123,500 miles. Had magneride delete. Can run regular shocks now. Have a afm plug in “delete”. Have had the motor loose compression but was under warranty and my ac stopped working. Other than that I love my 2014 gmc sierra.
I've had mine for 4 years only issues I've had was my trans went out. And some of these repair costs are really inflated.. I got my shocks for 530 bucks not 4500
Purchased brand new 2500hd Silverado. Right off the lot NO A/C. Compressor was bad within the first 500 miles of driving!!!! Dealer said part needed was a National Backorder and after my truck sitting on the lot 3 months I had no choice but to pull it out being that it was needed tor work as a tow truck. Ended up paying $800 to replace because of the first summer heatwave being a week away. Transmission went into safe mode due to a bad solenoid. Had to drive it through the gear shifts on the shift lever for that amount of time till they received the part. Heard these issues with many other Silverado owners. Ranging from 2015 to 2024. They quick with these massive marketing commercials but don't hold themselves responsible with these repairs for unless u allow them to hold your 65k truck hostage for months and months. Professionaly irresponsible sales ethics!!!!!
I have 2017 gmc sierra i payed 56k when it was brand new to buy it until now i spend over 30k to fix all this problem ac unit , 2 times transmission, injectors, control arms,diferencial.......ext so who ever around me want to buy new truck i m changing their minds to dont buy sierra
I have a 2014 GMC sierra v6 and the oil gauge fluctuates even after the truck is warmed up. Dropped below 40 once but mostly it stays at 40 while idling. When driving it goes between 40 and 70. Any help is greatly appreciated. I’ve had the truck for three days and I bought it for $24,000. I think I messed up after reading these comments.
There’s nothing wrong with your oil gauge, that is normal, at idle the oil pressure is low , but when you’re driving that’s when you will see it increase to 40 and above, depends on how much foot you put in it
Gmc and chevy trucks prior to 2013 were the last of decent trucks. I had 08 gmc drove it for 350k and the tranny finally went out. The engine was still going strong. Was a good truck for me. I will not buy anything above 2014
Sounds like any other modern vehicle, especially trucks and anything running a V8 motor. The GM AFM system has been a nightmare since it was introduced. If you ever have to do a top end rebuild due to afm lifters or your regular lifters, just do an afm delete and be done with it. The transmissions in these also suck - that’s really the biggest issue I see with these trucks overall because there’s nothing you can about it other than replace it and the torque converter, and pray it holds on long enough.
I own a 2018 GMC Sierra. Love the look of the truck and the ride is one of the smoothest ever but it has plenty of problems. Radio went out possibly 2400 bucks to fix. Water pump just got replaced at 100,000 which is pretty shity . The AC randomly doesn't work along with my temperature gauge and the cooling fan stays running after you turn off the truck. Not to mention the transmission does seem like it shifts weird. It has the 8-speed automatic. Really love the truck but what a pain in the butt probably won't ever buy another GMC or Chevy again
The radio doesn't work anymore shakes at lights ima try to sell it before the engine lights come on good looking truck though but i think ima get a ford
I own a gmc sierra 2014. I would never buy another on my 3rd ac compressor, replaced ball joints, fuel pump, had to have fuel injection cleaned, ac water pump, ac delco batteries only last 1 1/2 to years. All this within first 4 years. Now I’m starting to see rust on frame in spots. Driver assiste is out. AV outlet quit working after about year. I could go on and on about this truck. Don’t like ford so will get rid of as soon as I find something else.
Tran down shifted hard when goes to 1 st gear only when trans gets over a 145 temperature took it to a dealer ship had it reprogrammed and still having the same problem
