I’m going to give you some answers to some of the issues below in the comments. I have had this lock for about a week and I love it. 1. When installing this lock follow the easy detailed instructions and test the lock as stated in the instructions. When you leave the house and close the door you only need to push the Schlage button at the top and it will allow you to turn the deadbolt into the lock position. You don’t need to enter a code when leaving and locking the door. Your code is only needed to unlock the door. Someone commented about the door not locking after leaving and simply hitting the Schlage button will unlock it. This happens to me and it’s because I didn’t install it correctly or test it properly as stated in the instructions. My problem was I installed the lock while it was extended. I took it apart really quick and retracted the lock and BINGO it worked. So to answer another question about what is the purpose of the Schlage button for on the top. It’s does two things, lights illuminated the numbers blue so you can see at night and most importantly you push it to lock the door when you leave. Remember once you push the Schlage button when you leave you must turn the deadbolt to lock it. If installed the lock correctly you only need to enter your code when entering your house. Hope this helps someone.
I have to enter the code to lock the door. For some reason pressing the Schlage button does not allow 1 press locking. Any ideas why? I have another one on my back door that does allow you to lock the door after pressing the Schlage button so I’m not sure why it doesn’t work on this one.

I put these on 16 of my rentals. Some have lasted as little as 6 months, others up to 3 years, which is a lot of money for the hassle. Some important, fragile internal parts are plastic, which causes them to break down very quickly, especially if you live in a climate that sees freezing temperatures. After battling with this product for 3 years, and replacing 10 of the 16, I’m finally giving up on Schlage. If you look at the shelves after a storm, these are all sold out. Sales person at the store pointed out to me “that’s because they all break down during inclement weather due to poor manufacturing. “

This lock has a known defect where the thumb turn stops engaging. It should be recalled and pulled from store shelves. I called Schlage customer service and they are aware of the defect. They tell you to replace the battery and do a factory reset the first time you call, then when you call back they tell you to return it due to the defect. You cannot rely on the keypad or you will be locked out or not be able to lock the door when leaving your home, and this could happen at any time with no warning. No point paying this much for a keypad lock that is unreliable. Waste of money and have to get the locksmith to come back to install a different lock.
this has been my exact experience with this lock. I don't want to have to pay for another locksmith to come over to install another lock but looks like i don't have any choice now
Completely agree. Manufacture knows the plastic parts should be metal, but chooses to have a shorter-lived product hoping people replace with the same for more sales 😕
My landlord recently swapped my key deadbolt with one of these. My landlord said the batteries never go dead and I don't need the key, just 4 numbers. So I push the button and lock, then I sit and wait for the timer to release the tumbler. FYI make sure the tumbler turns freely after locking. Apparently if you barely bump the knob towards unlock it will allow the lock to unlock after the electromagnet disengages. A plain key is more convenient and easier to use.

@@RicknMorty69 If you have installed it correctly, which I will assume you have, than the usual fix is to drill/bore out the deadbolt hole which in turn will allow it to extend the full length of the deadbolt. I would suggest doing a test before doing any drilling, to ensure that that is actually the problem. Open the door that the unit is installed on and than turn the knob to engage the deadbolt. Wait about 30 seconds, than with the deadbolt fully extended, push the schlage button on the "outside" assembly and see if it will allow you to unlock it. If it allows you to unlock than you will want to double check that you have installed it correctly. If it doesn't allow you to unlock the unit, use a tape measure, or anything that you can put a mark on to measure the length of the deadbolt. Than insert the tape measure, or other device you are using, into the deadbolt hole on the door-jam. If the measurement will not allow the deadbolt to fully extend to engage the lock, than you need to drill/bore out the hole a little deeper.
In your instructions it gives you all the codes that came with the lock, You punch in the code, the light turns green for maybe 5 seconds, during that time you turn the bolt. the key is for if you do not have the code
I have another Schlage lock for an interior garage door in which a motor cycles the latch automatically when the code is entered. Is this not an option for a deadbolt? I do not like having to manually lock the door behind me when I leave.
Hi, Julie. Thanks for reaching out. Our smart locks have that function, but this lock does not. Let us know if you have other questions. Thanks, Jenny.
I’ve installed two of these I love one but the other i have to enter my code every time I lock it from the outside, which it’s supposed to let you push the Schlage button and twist for a simple lock. Any suggestions?
Hi, Mark. Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like the lock might be installed incorrectly. Please retry the following. If you still have issues after the below, please give us a call at 1 (888) 805-9837 and we can have someone assist you directly. Thanks, Jenny. 1. With the door open, position the interior thumb-turn in a vertical position. 2. Remove the interior over plate. 3. Disconnect the black plastic wire harness. (The battery can stay connected.) 4. Remove the two mounting bolts from each side of the thumb turn. *Caution* this will loosen the exterior. 5. Pull the interior mount away from the door until it is completely separated from the driver bar. 6. Grasp the chrome driver bar and rotate it toward the hinges so the bolt retracts(unlocks). 7. Reinstall the interior mounting sliding it on the driver bar and feeding the wire through. 8. Insert the two mounting bolts on the left and right side of the cam. 9. Re-install the interior cover plate.
It could also be the rectangle part of the battery below mounted on 2 prongs. Should be installed with the metal clip touching center piece. Happened to mine.
Excellent video, very thorough and simple. But it doesn’t fix the problem. No way to lock the door without a key from the outside and even then it’s a struggle

Hello, Thank you for contacting Schlage Support. Your issue is based on incorrect installation. We do have some trouble shooing steps to help resolve your issue. To Fix: 1. Open your door and extend the deadbolt. 2. Disconnect wires from the front keypad. 3. Remove the mounting bolts to take off the inside assembly from the door. 4. Rotate the driver bar toward the hinges to retract the bolt. 5. Reassemble the inside assembly. Make sure the mounting bolts remain uncovered. If they are not, repeat the 1st four steps. If the CAM is in the wrong position it will cover the mounting bolts. 6. Connect the wires from the keypad. To test: 1. With the door open and the bold retracted press, the outside Schlage logo. 2. Rotate the knob away from the hinges 3. The bolt should be extended. This is the 1-touch locking feature for this lock. This should fix all your issues with your lock. Hello Jim, The BE365 toggle should engage to lock either when using the key, a code, or by simply pressing the Schlage logo at the top. Similar to unlocking, when the deadbolt is engaged, you only have 5 seconds to rotate the toggle to lock before the deadbolt is disengaged. If you feel like the issues you're experiencing require troubleshooting, please DM us with your contact information. Thanks!

When locking, it stinks that you need to wait several seconds if you're the type that wants to check that the deadbolt is set in the locked position. Because if you "unlock" immediately, well...the door will unlock. Anyone find a workaround?
You can feel it's locked when the thumbturn comes to a stop. . . or just turn the knob/lever/handleset below and rattle the door to check. If you're talking about checking to see if the outside thumbturn clutch has released (which it does after about 6 seconds), I just listen for the "quack", and generally trust that the clutch has released.
I bought the same lock. all I have to do is press the schlage key and the lock opens. I don't even need to put the code in.... Some security this turned out to be...
It's installed backwards/incorrectly! Had the same issues, called customer service, had my contractor do what the CS rep told me (contractors also sometimes don't like to read manuals), and tadahhh!
If you press the button when the deadbolt isn’t engaged, you can lock and unlock it as many times as you want until the light stops flashing and the knob is disengaged from the deadbolt. The assumption is that you’ll press that button once to lock it, then not immediately unlock it again for whatever reason. If that’s not what you issue is, then you didn’t pay attention to the instructions when it tells you that the “cam aligner” must be pointing down when you install the lock. This is how the lock knows that the deadbolt is not engaged and therefore the button should allow you to turn the knob. If you put the cam alinger in the wrong position, the lock thinks the deadbolt is engaged when it actually isn’t, so the buttons work opposite of how they’re supposed to. Again... it’s a piece on the side with the battery and it’s labeled “cam aligner”. You probably have it in the wrong position and need to slide the cam out of it, turn the aligner the correct way, then put it back together.

My BE369 has failed TWICE in a year.... not after 1,000,000 cycles. Had to replace the first unit, now the 2nd unit failed. Won't unlock/lock from the outside regardless if we use the code or the key. POOR QUALITY!!
Pressing it in the dark (night time) illuminates the other buttons. Also when you are locking it from outside, you press it to initialized the bolt to turn.
Thanks for reaching out to Schlage, sorry to hear the trouble you've had using the programming code. While there are a number of reasons the programming code will fail the 2 most common are, the incorrect code is being used, or the programming code was previously changed. To confirm the correct programming code is being used we would recommend checking what you have against the programming sticker on the lock itself (located underneath the keypad). Once confirmed the correct code is being used if the issue persist we would recommend preforming a reset on the lock. A factory reset will restore all default settings, including the original codes, which should ensure the programming code on the keypad will work. Please see the instructions to reset in the link provided, have a safe day! Reset begins @6:30 ruclips.net/video/tJ7bKkzYaXw/видео.html

These locks are JUNK now. The Chinese company that has made them have cheaped out on their production. Immediately, they only give one key instead of two like they did. I owned 5 between two houses. Newest one failed. Tried two more as replacements, one failed out of the box, the other within a month. Bought at different stores so no "bad batch" nonsense. Locking pin mechanism is now prone to early or immediate FAILURE. Disappointed as I loved the convenience of these locks. The other four locks I have still work fine. The oldest one is 6 years old at the beach.
I bought one less than a year ago - came with 2 keys. Works exactly the same as the old one I had (purchased about 10 yrs ago - also at the beach). I think you got a lemon.
I do not recommend this product for securing your home. There is no reliability associated with the unit I purchased. My padlock started "free spinning" when atttempting to lock or unlock my home about 4-6 months after install. My pregnant wife was locked out of my house in the extreme heat twice this summer. About a year after install the locking mechanism has completely failed and no longer works. I would try another product before investing in another schlage unit.
The issue is a solenoid inside not pulling a pin far enough to engage the knob with the cam shaft that turns the deadbolt. You can take it apart and see the problem happening but I can’t figure out how to fix it.

Why is my dead bolt unlocking by simply just pressing the schlage button without a code?
If the deabolt does not engage completely (extend all the way out) when you lock it, it "thinks" it's still in unlocked state so it remains "unlocked"
Mine does the same thing. Can unlock just using the big button.
What's the fix?

The key is also if your battery goes
Out or if you enter wrong code 4 times
(The battery can stay connected.)
Happened to mine.
changing the battery worked for me to get my deadbolt to engage.
Can you disable the beeping sound when pressing the codes to unlock the bolt?
TimeIdle yes
So the wife doesn't wake up when you came home late?😅
This lock only comes with one master key. Can multiple keys be made for other family members to enter the home in case of emergency? Thanks.
Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. You can have copies made if needed. Thanks.
Excellent video, very thorough and simple. But it doesn’t fix the problem. No way to lock the door without a key from the outside and even then it’s a struggle
Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. To lock from the outside, you press the Schlage button and then turn the thumb turn. If the lock turn function is disabled, please see page 12 of the manual to turn this function on: www.schlage.com/content/dam/sch-us/documents/pdf/installation-manuals/23780042.pdf. Let us know if you have questions. Thanks, Jenny.
Nope. Now I get a slow flashing red light. Whenever it does this I have to Take it apart remove the battery put it back and I’m simply not doing it now. This hasn’t worked in several months and it’s 2 1/2 years old

Hello. I have no problems programming the lock, but I can’t figure out why the lock will unlock by just pressing the Schlage button hours after I locked it???
Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. This means the lock has been installed incorrectly. You will need to repeat the installation process. Ensure the cam and bolt positions are correct, as referenced in the installation instructions. Browse to answers.schlage.com and search on “Installing BE365” for a video. You can also contact us at consumer.leads@allegion.com or 888-805-9837 and we can troubleshoot with you if needed. Thanks, Jenny.
i installed this according to directions. however it will not lock by just pressing the schlage button. i can lock it from outside with a code but not with just button. Help!
Thank you for reaching out! I do apologize for the issue you are having with your lock. When pressing the Schlage button while the deadbolt is in the UNLOCKED position does it flash green or does your keypad light up blue?
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

I have the same problem… did you happen to find a solution?
Hello, Thank you for contacting Schlage. What you are experiencing is an installation issue with your lock. Please email us at consumerschlage@allegion.com or call toll-free at 888-805-9837, and we would be happy to help get your issue resolved. Thank you, Kat.
I followed all the steps, but every time I press schlage from outside the lock open!!!
Any ideas to fix this problem?!
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Schlage Support. Your issue is based on incorrect installation. We do have some trouble shooing steps to help resolve your issue.
To Fix:
To test:
1. With the door open and the bold retracted press, the outside Schlage logo.
2. Rotate the knob away from the hinges
3. The bolt should be extended. This is the 1-touch locking feature for this lock.
This should fix all your issues with your lock. If you run into any further issues, please email us at consumerschlage@allegion.com or give us a call at 888-805-9837 and we’ll be happy to help. Thank you, Kat.

Thank you so much.
Now it is working perfectly 😍😍😍..
I have this exact unit and it has been acting up, I put in my code and it won't lock. I have to enter multiple times to lock it. I don't understand why this is happening. Please help.
Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear this. Have you tried changing the batteries? Or, have you recently changed them? Let me know and we can go from there. Thanks, Jenny.
when locking the cylinder just spins and does not lock the deadbolt. It does unlock when using keypad code. Why is this happening?
Hello Jim,
The BE365 toggle should engage to lock either when using the key, a code, or by simply pressing the Schlage logo at the top. Similar to unlocking, when the deadbolt is engaged, you only have 5 seconds to rotate the toggle to lock before the deadbolt is disengaged. If you feel like the issues you're experiencing require troubleshooting, please DM us with your contact information. Thanks!
Please post just a basic instructions for my rental properties. I would like to email my guests a video but dont want to send them this one with instructions about how to take it apart, overide or reprogram it.
I have a problem I cannot enter my program codes which is 6 digits. I press schlage button it turns green and only allowed to enter 4 codes! What is the problem? Can u please help
Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. Is it the default programming code on the back of the keypad portion of the lock that you are using or was it a different one?
I installed 2 of these locks a week ago. Neither keypad lights up from the outside when I press the Schlage button which was a real issue when I got home after dark the other day. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to be able to enter my code. Anyone else have this issue?

Defective product. First the thumbturn wouldn't activate the lock. then i reset it and now it won't deactivate the deadbolt. even if i get the passcode wrong it unlocks and locks the door.

When using the key, the key goes in and turns, but can be difficult to pull out, why is that?
Hello, thank you for reaching out! The BE365 model deadbolt has a floating cylinder so there is a bit of a trick to removing and engaging the key. If we can assist you with this model please reach out to us at 888-805-9837 or email consumerschlage@allegion.com.
Door jack solitions
I bought the same lock. all I have to do is press the schlage key and the lock opens. I don't even need to put the code in.... Some security this turned out to be...
I am having the same issue, but didn't notice for months
So...does someone need a 4 digit code to open the lock or a 6 digit code?
Hi there. The codes are 4 digits and the programming code is 6 digits. Let us know if you have questions. Thanks.
Won't lock or unlock. The free spinning thing just continues to spin and doesn't seem to do anything with the deadbolt
Hi, Maxwell. Sorry to hear this. You can contact us at consumer.leads@allegion.com or 888-805-9837 and we can troubleshoot with you or set up a warranty replacement if needed. Thanks, Jenny.
mine is doing the exact same thing!
I lost the factory numbers to start the procedure
Hi, Maureen. Thanks for reaching out. The programming code is also on the back of the keypad portion of the lock. Let us know if you have questions. Thanks, Jenny.
So there is no at home "tongue trick" just an ad for their product
My BE369 has failed TWICE in a year.... not after 1,000,000 cycles. Had to replace the first unit, now the 2nd unit failed. Won't unlock/lock from the outside regardless if we use the code or the key. POOR QUALITY!!
I have that problem with a low battery. New battery, no problem.
What's the point of the schlage button at the top?
Jack Russo so u can reset your code etc :)
Pressing it in the dark (night time) illuminates the other buttons. Also when you are locking it from outside, you press it to initialized the bolt to turn.
Why is the programming number not working?
Reset begins @6:30

Step 3. Install better lock.
Buyer beware there is was glitch on mine that i discovered 6 months after i put it in .if its in the locked position all you meed to do is press any 2 buttons in any order and press the Schlage button after those 2 numbers and it will unlock i took it back immediately try if you don’t believe me
Hello, I am sorry to hear you were experiencing issues with your lock. Based on the description, this was due to an installation error. Walking through the installation steps again and ensuring that the cam is in the vertical position when the door is unlocked would resolve the issue. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
When I enter the code it locks the door and then a burglar need only press the Schlage button and it unlocks it. There’s no way to require the code to get into the house. It’s literally the worst design I’ve ever seen. I sell Schlage hardware and I’m gonna recommend everybody buy something else that works properly

My lock doesnt work like this at all
Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear this. You are welcome to reach out to us at consumerschlage@allegion.com or 888-805-9837 and we can assist you. Thanks.
I've had the same issues......though not with the pregnant wife. Did you hear anything about fixing the issue?
The issue is a solenoid inside not pulling a pin far enough to engage the knob with the cam shaft that turns the deadbolt. You can take it apart and see the problem happening but I can’t figure out how to fix it.
I replaced the battery and now the keypad will not work.

It’s a piece of shit. Put in the code, it flashes green and the deadbolt knob just spins and does not unlock. I kicked the door in to get in the house and went back to the old tried and true key set up.
