  • How to create tokens in Foundry VTT using Tokenizer for you DnD games.
    Tokenizer (MrPrimate): github.com/mrprimate/tokenizer/
Save time, stop uploading an image to a token maker to then download the token to then upload it into Foundry. Instead use the Tokenizer mod to do it all inside of Foundry which is faster and easier. Giving you more time to spend on things that matter... like making awesome D&D games.

Having good tokens really helps when you will spend many sessions looking at them over a whole 6+ month game.

True, though I find it's pretty normal in my games that Tokens get updated every so often as the look of the PC's change.

Is there a token module which does not mess that much with the foundry base design? This one looks quite overengineered for a simple tokenizer tool

I use this OFTEN, especially for NPCs. I've got two issues with this which there are likely fixes for but I don't know about them. First, Tokenizer saves the Avatar file and the token file in it's own directory (at least on FORGE). I like to keep all my tokens in specific directories under My Items. Can I change the path? The second part is related to the first in that I own some circle tokens already. There are times where I want NOT USE Tokenizer and just load the circle token as the Avatar and the Token. I haven't quite figured out how to not activate Tokenizer in these cases. I'm sure I'm missing something, though.

For the first question, go into the Tokenizer settings when you're in your world. about half way down you will see "Player image upload directory" and "NPC image upload directory for NPC tokens", adjust the directory for both of these to where you want the tokens saved.
For the second question. If you already have a token that you want to use, go into tokenizer like you normally would but click the upload button and select your token, then remove the other layers from the token side.
Let me know if you have any more questions!

is there a good way to make the tokens stand out more from the backgroud/map?

I just make sure to have a frame that contrasts with the background and I've never had an issue with it.
