  • Allied forces face a powerful German Tiger tank during the SS encounter. | Buy or rent Fury here: amzo.in/movie/2tq/fury-2014
    Last months of World War II in April 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theater, a battle-hardened U.S. Army sergeant in the 2nd Armored Division named Wardaddy commands a Sherman tank called "Fury" and its five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.

      Dude... THEY WERE REALLY a nightmare. The initial rate was 1/4 when they appeared on the battlefield in 1942. You can see this in this very battle. Although Fury was an improved tank compared to the other Shermans, it took him a lot to destroy it. It must have been horrible.

    Nice Hollywood Video but no tank commander would act like this! The German tank would not move forward, because he has with 1000 meters a excellent distance to hit and break the Sherman light amour. The remaining 3 Sherman tanks would not attack an enemy tank with a more superior cannon and amour from the front. They would try to split and to attack from the side or behind. Anyway, a great movie!

    • @ppjk5203
      @ppjk5203 3 месяца назад +2

      The smoke forced the tank to advance so it wouldn't lose track of the platoon. Flanking wasn't an option because of the open terrain. I think the lack of realism is more in the overall scenario of a lone Tiger randomly sitting in a field, but maybe this was inspired by the late war operations of Kampfgruppe Fehrmann.

    Did no one in a tank know that when you first encounter a German tank to immediately spread out and the flanking tanks go as wide and as fast as possible to get behind it as that is the weakest point.
    One of the flanking tanks might get hit but one of them will eventually get behind it.
    All the other tanks have to do is lay down suppressing fire and NEVER convoy so close or in a line.
    The government tank contractors were idiots in designing the Sherman.
    It was a death trap against the Panzers and 88's of the Tiger.
    Even Patton was disappointed in the Sherman.
    To kill a German tank, a Sherman had to get behind it where the German tanks saved armor thickness or when the German tank was in an upward climb and exposed it belly.

    I've seen a lot of the docs from the 60s, on CBS' series '20th Century,' often narrated by Walter Cronkite and aired on Sunday afternoons (this was a bit before 60 Minutes --- also an interesting series). Anyway, the US tank crew members from WWII, that were interviewed on that earlier show (remember that this is some 20 years after the fact, not quite the teenagers that typically were the crews) recalled that their personal tank battles were pretty deadly and quick. Tigers were the worst. The US teams adopted an idea from the Naval plane fighters, the 'Thatch and Weave,' (from what I gathered); the tanks were to act in two unit teams where they would alternate being point. Once an enemy tank would start firing at the 'point' tank the second tank would try to sneak up on the backside of the enemy tank an try to shoot the enemy's tank in its backside. I've seen on PBS' doc (Secrets of the Dead) that the US and Britain would sometimes give their solders amphetamines' to "keep them awake," (The Germans also did this.) --- 'World War Speed.' One of the side effects of speed is that there is an enhanced aggression often seen in the person on speed. A fact that I had not known about. Thanks PBS.

      US forces encountered barely any tigers in western front. For crews, pretty much everything was tiger or panther due to fear of them. Even god damn AT guns in bushes.
      That "group tactic" is huge misconception as shermans normally operated in smaller units of 5 tanks so usually they engaged german tanks in group. German tanks often operated alone or in smaller unit due to lack of tanks, spare parts and fuel. Most common tank on western front was PZ IV, JGPZ IV and Stug III or IV, not tiger or panther. In second half of 44, US got long 76mm shermans and britsh used Firefly version from D-Day already, both of them capable of penning tigers front at around 1000-1500 meters (which was around or above average range at western front), that scene is utter bullshit.

    OK. This is a scene written around 75mm Shermans but acted out by Shermans with the more anti-tank capable long 76mm experiencing the difficulties that the 75mm would. It's a movie ..

    • @stevenrobinson2381
      @stevenrobinson2381 7 месяцев назад

      NOPE. The 76MM was a pathetic attempt by the U.S. to up gun the Sherman. The British did a great job with the Firefly-they stuffed a 17pndr. high velocity gun in the Sherman & it became quite a killer-so much so that the Germans made quite a stink about how to deal with it.

    • @Twirlyhead
      @Twirlyhead 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@stevenrobinson2381 Nope. The 76mm was a better anti-tank gun than the 75mm though obviusly not as good as the 17pdr.. So which part of my unimpeachable comment are you actually disagreeing with.

      @@Twirlyhead the mere fact that by 1945-the year the movie is set in-BOTH the 75 as well as the 76 were hopelessly outclassed & a lot of American tank crews found that out-the hard way.

    Esta película me encanta, pero tiene algunos fallos históricos... en esta escena los carros de combate alemanes atacaban primero al primer carro y después al último para dificultar su evasión al ataque. Después diría que el Tiger sabiendo de su superioridad en blindaje y armamento no se hubiese movido nunca.
    Pero la película es épica indudablemente. Faltan muchas películas como esta.

      @@jorgecarlossalinas3812 cuando hablan entre los americanos que saben su ubicación dicen 1000 metros. Los Sherman a esa distancia de frente le podían descascarillar el oxido, mientras que el 88 atravesaría el carro americano como mantequilla. También hay que decir que puede ser razonable que la tripulación del Tiger no tenía ni puñetera idea de lo que estaban haciendo por ser nóveles ya que estamos al final de la guerra.
