This sort of thing has been done in a house no far from me on the Old Ballymoney Road except the guy used a motor out of a washing machine and the two buttons that were marked Open and Close were on the left side of the fireplace and were powered off the mains via a 12V power supply, not sure if he used the TV Remote to open and close the curtains.
