Okay justin one tip for the rod stuck issues what i did is put vaseline on the rings and they glide smooth over the rod when the switchbot is pulling👍🏼
Another trick is to use velcro. Buy some with both layers. Dont use the scratchy part. Just stick the soft side on the upper part of the rod (so its hidden) and it will glide like a buttered up eagle //The guy whos late to the party
3:32 you have no idea how much I appreciate this. I'm so damn tired of watching youtube videos and having to cancel shopping orders because they don't mute their voice commands
Hey Justin, I’ve seen these things for like SSSSOOOOOOOOOO long, like when it was a campaign on kickstarter, which was pretty cool. This is something that would be super nice if our house didn’t use plantation shutters. The switchbot company is COMPLETELY underrated and rly could be used well. Love the video, also, most creative intro EVER, 😂
I solved my stuck grommet issue by stitching a line of thread between the eyes which maintains the angle of the grommet and stops it getting stuck. If you stitch from the back its completely invisible and works a treat. If you want a more heavy duty fix, get a length of light duty chain and a handful of keyring loops. Stitch the keyring loops to the back of your curtain next to the grommets and use the chain in the same way as you would use the plastic strip in the grommet kit. Much less unsightly.
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
I am loving this RUclips I never thought I could have curtains that move this way I always see this on movie’s like Tyler Perry mad black women we’re the curtains open on the open scene on their own as she was sleeping or ask my caregiver to close the curtains I am going to do the pipe thing thought about that as well because the curtains Will snag on the middle rod what they should do is make a rod to buy
There's a much cheaper way to make the curtain rod versions of the switchbot curtain to work properly if you have heavy curtains IV been working trying to get them fitted and working perfectly every time I had to do a bit of a hack because of the heavy curtains I used to clips and a piece of string to take some of the weight out of the curtain and I also put hockey tape all the way along my curtain rod pole which made it completely smooth and stop the friction
That is a really great question! I dont think so...It depends on the weight and track they are on. If they are on a track similar to U-rail or I-rail and weigh less thatn 18 pounds, it could totally work. I'd be very interested to know. I'd reach out to Switchbot with some pictures and find out - I want to know!!!
Are you using it on silent mode? Because I saw some other reviews earlier and I think the motors will be more powerful if you use them on the other mode
How does the solar panel get sun from so close to the ceiling? 🤔 Or does it not have to be direct sunlight? I found out it has a cable to place in sunny place. How long is the cable? And how do you attach it?
The bot is pretty strong. Someone recommended using a lubricant like vaseline on the rod for a smoother pull (if necessary). Not sure if that's good or bad for the bot, but may be able to help. Good luck!!
Huge heavy rod style curtains are a definite no no. Especialy if the drag on the floor which will put extra strain on the little motor. I've had to buy a pair of lighter weight curtains (under 3kg) to get mine to work properly & that's with the newer version device without the clips.

Sheer genius

Thank you!!!! :) Yea they are definitley underrated. So many great products and their app works incredibly well and smooth.
No problem, but they SURE are
Put those clear plastic clips on the backside rather than the top. That way you don't see it.
For the lip on the rod, another thing to try is a piece of heat shrink tubing. Gives it a rubbery grip to get over and looks mildly professional

I'm here for curtain rod Automation...Great video BTW. But why am i getting tingles? 🤣🤣
Not saying the name of your home device is a godsend and should be a standard for all youtube tech videos
Agreed!!
ok just ordered these, stoked to try them
Enjoy! :)
Strange question, do you know what kind of curtains your friend Toby has? Or where he got them? I love how they look. Thanks!
Thanks for recording the sounds!
:) :)
Hi friend! It works which a corrugated rod?

HA HA HA! AWSOME ENTRY ON THAT VIDEO. LOL!

What's the name of the metal bit and where can we get it from?
Excellent video! Very informative and well done! Thanks
Hi Justin - I am very interested in blinds that can be automated for Alexa, etc. Would love to see you do a review.
Hi Justin, would it work with Godear design vertical blinds for patio doors.

Can I use it remotely thru the app when I’m far away?
Where to buy?
where do you get this kind of curtain?
Where is the video on action tiles and customisations for the iport mounted iPad? Looking forward to it.. Thanks
It's on the list and kept getting pushed back, but good news - it's coming soon. They just released a new hub for Smartthings which I was waiting on.
Great video, thank you! If you just plan to use one bot to open and close on a timer set via the app, do you need the hub?
I believe you still need the hub
Cool video. I set up mine too
Are you using it on silent mode? Because I saw some other reviews earlier and I think the motors will be more powerful if you use them on the other mode
Yeah it seemed to have move pretty heavy stuff
Yes I was using Performance Mode.
Lol nice intro
Does this work for curtains without rings? I have a pole, and the pole just goes thru the curtain. I do not have rings on my theatre curtains.
I'd love to know this precisely, too!

The cable is very long....about 4 or 5 feet. The solar panel will work when the sun or sunlight can reach it - may not work for all setups.
Please tell me what brand your curtains are, I’m redoing my room and I NEED them
I think they were IKEA.
do you have a web site where I can see all the models or products? can you sell overseas? thanks Leo
Link is in the description, yes it sells worldwide - use my discount code for $10 off! :)
Dammit! My wife wants a 15 foot door. Now I'm going to have to test these things on huge heavy curtain from that I purchased from a casino auction.
The bot is pretty strong. Someone recommended using a lubricant like vaseline on the rod for a smoother pull (if necessary). Not sure if that's good or bad for the bot, but may be able to help. Good luck!!

Same issues with my rod and grommets curtains. No luck so far been working it for 2 days.
Dang! Someone said they lubricated their curtain rod with vaseline....maybe try that?
Not one comment on what happens when you buy another one for the other side of your curtain, do you need to restart the entire process over again??
Yes, but it's really quick and easy. I started with two from the beginning, but reset a few times when testing and it was simple.
Oh great, thank you
@@Justin_tech if I plan on using the remote, can I just use one remote to control both units?

Nice
Thanks!!
Does it work on beef curtains?
I dont know what these are - couldn't find them online either.
@@Justin_tech LOL. It's a joke. Just google "beef curtains meaning"
You might want to sensor when you say “alexa“
Is WiFi required to use these?
Yes you need wifi
@@Justin_tech Does it work with 2.4 & 5G Wifi?
what was that asmr thing, irrelevant
