Upnote is shockingly good! The automatic markdown backups alone should put it to the top of the pack. It also looks stunning and is among the least expensive options in its class.
We definitely switched from evernote to nimbus. Not only because of the big price difference, but we also find it much more like the way to edit texts, highlight them, etc. without barely moving your fingers, the tools appear floating just above the selected text. The strange thing is that we don't see much talk about this app, when it seemed unbeatable to us.
I think they weren’t known enough, but it seems to me more and more people are switching. It’s just the fastest note taking app with focus on the right things.
Upnote for the win! The Evernote import function is perfect and am transferring out 3,798 notes. What has completely surprised me is the sync function. Flawless and FAST. I am stunned that this small team can do what EN hasn’t been able to FOR YEARS. Oh, and can we talk about the pricing!?!?! If you can tell, I’m now a fanboy 😁
Thanks for "upvoting" Upnote. I hadn't heard of it and I sorely needed a primary note-taking app that was cross-platform (coming from Apple notes). So far this looks (and runs) perfect.
@@DC-Peiffer welcome! It was recommended to me over on the MPU Forum. I have been trying to kick my addiction to EN for years and believe Upnote is my new home. Being all Apple, I wanted to use Apple Notes but couldn’t make it work for my needs and really the sync drove me bananas.
I really like Noteplan but wish it could be used in conjunction with Obsidian. Both access plain-text markdown files. The problem with Noteplan is that it uses the first line of a note as the note name, and not the filename like Obsidian. The developer has indicated that he was going to make a change here to allow people to reference the filename in Noteplan (and thus allowing it to be used interchangeably with Obsidian), but that has yet to happen. It's a shame because it's a great app that would work great with Obsidian users who want more of a mobile-friendly app.
UpNote is the best! For easy & fast simple note taking over multiple platforms. It replaced Evernote and Nimbus for me, which are way slower. Weakness: tasks and bullet points without drag&drop. But notes with open tasks are automatically filtered in a dynamic folder, which is innovative. One note can be in multiple notebooks. Easy tagging. Fast search. Evernote etc import. Good backup and export functions.
It's there a note taking app that can convert hastily taken notes throughout the day to well formatted and grammatically correct ones. I see this feature in apps for meeting notes (like otter/fireflies) but I couldn't find any for text note takers.
Francesco great content as usual, forgot all about Nimbus Note it looks great as an Evernote alternative. I've been an Evernote customer since 2008 but the latest synch problems they have been having has me looking for a plan B.
Is there one app that works with Windows and iOS/Mac (I use both) that contains Notes, Calendar, Tasks? Currently using Google but miss the interfaces of old of one app and view of all (with calendar showing tasks).
Doesn’t Agenda do all three? Know you can link EN with Google calendar and Outlook integration is in beta. Will give EN props for all the updates they are making with tasks.
There IS a Windows version, I’m using it on my Windows 11 machine and synchs VERY well. I’m impress with the UpNote app. Have been using it since the middle of January.
@@adamashlock1787 as a consultant, I work with my clients notebooks and I can’t install any app due to security policies. So unfortunately, I need a web app
I also like Nimbus very much. However it is kind of slow and the desktop app sync is super slow. Just looking for another note taking for my needs. Maybe Craft… not sure
Sadly UPNOTE is bloated and doesn't support end to end encryption - they claim "Due to implementation complexity, UpNote does not currently have a plan to support E2EE" - Thought it might be a competitor to Obsidian - not yet. Anyone have strong Obsidian alternatives? Thank you. Apologies my English not the best.
Thank you so much for introducing me to Upnote! Years and years searching for the perfect app for my study notes and voilà! It fits my needs so perfectly I don't even have words 🥲🥲
Tried so many note taking apps. UpNote is my favourite.
12 year die-hard user of Evernote. Switched to Nimbus 2 years ago and haven’t looked back… Love it!

Pricing is almost too low to believe, especially for a lifetime purchase and unlimited devices.
@@adamashlock1787 same. I use UpNote. But I'm almost worried because the pricing is too low.

Upnote is superb. I wonder why it’s not more widely in use. I can’t see any shortcomings.
Agreed! In addition to its functionality, it’s one of the most aesthetically pleasing apps, IMO.
I think maybe because there are now a lot of players in the space not the least of which is the elephant in the room pulling all the oxygen?

Upnote looks good but seems they won't bring a webapp.

No need for a web app on my side. Why should there be one? They support all platforms you could need.

Do take a look at Bundled Notes. Beautify design. Ability to use Kanban is a big plus. The Creator of this is responsive, innovative and agile.
I use upnote, and I am very satisfying.
Their website seems to be down, does that happen often?
@@crusher3360 I don't use their website, app works perfect.

I would like to see some info on how exactly to use Microsoft Loop for productivity

Agreed. Been using amplenote at the moment. It has a bit of a unique workflow and is still quite new, but is super fast.

My big issue with nimbus is the lack of proper export.

I suppose not. Oh well.
Pardon my ignorance, what is E2EE, or why is it too important? I was thinking to migrate all into Upnote, just don't want to make the wrong decision
@vcab5319 Evernote doesn't have E2E either and have a terrible privacy policy
One note is king
First to absorb the new knowledge! 😄
