I have seen a Popeyes chicken employee coming out of the bathroom with his apron on. He went behind the counter, took the raw chicken from the plastic bucket pan with his hands, dipped it in the flour and dropped the chicken in the flour and then the deep fryer. I also saw similar thing from the Waffle House. One of the cooks came from the bathroom with his apron still on, went behind the counter and started cooking. Hopefully he washed his hands in the bathroom.

Potato salad is one of my dishes to make for our Thanksgiving dinner, cookouts and any other gatherings that we have requiring it. I use all purpose white potatoes or red potatoes. Russets get too mushy for me. I use Hellman’s Mayo, a couple of squirts of mustard for color and no sugar. The other ingredients are about the same as yours perhaps different amounts. I do believe however that there are different strokes for different folks. So prepare yours according to what you and your family like.

I had no idea how good how fantastic my friends' potato salad was. I'm Irish. My best friend (RIP) coached me over and over- and she was always truthful- I just kept missing it- anyway- Everytime I start it- I feel she's near me shaking her head and smiling. I'm on my way- Donna you have helped me to keep remembering. My only remark as to the onions is that the first day they are great- but the 2nd the onion starts to get too strong. So- I've started using the dehydrated and put the chopped onions on the side for those who want more.

Suggestions for removing the lid of a jar (when there is no man around)…use the handle end of a stainless steel case knife (the kind you would use to spread peanut butter with) hit around the edge of the lid about 2-3 times in the direction you would turn to remove it! Has never failed me! Also, there is a floppy round thin rubbery thingamajig you lay flat on top of the jar lid. Make sure you get a secure grip and twist. Usually, top loosens and comes right off🙂

Quite a while ago, a friend gave me a new way to make potato salad. After cooking the potatoes, you put them in a bowl, then pour some French dressing on them. Refrigerate overnight. Then next day add vegetables you like, hard boiled eggs, and bind it all together with mayonnaise. Salt and pepper to taste. We love it, but when I bring it to a picnic or when I have it at my parties, some people won’t try it! They’re missing out on a delicious potato salad!

I have started watching your ministry of love! Yes I said ministry. A great cook only rises to that level with love, great, fresh vegetables and basic ingredients. I'm from PA raised by Country masters i.e.Mom, Sister/Cousin and adopted Mother. My mom kept it basic like your salad but I was the prep chef! 60+ years no chopper just kitchen knife and orders...she used whatever mayo that was on sale. Her niece on the other hand swore on Hellmans mayo so...that's what I use. But we are a 2 type home. Bennie my hubby uses Miracle Whip. So when he cooks uses that. But anyway I digress. Ruth has a ritual salad...cream cheese, onion, garlic powder, French's yellow or brown mustard, chopped colored bell pepper, salt, pepper, tad white vinegar & lemon juice. She. Makes up the dressing and allows it to sit covered while she cooks, dices, potatoes & eggs. When all is prepared she folds her dressing in with eggs. Covers and serves after it is time to eat. Now Philadelphia Cream Cheese is what she Wille start with but sometimes to stretch it out she used Daisy's sour cream. Now. My mom calls her potato salad expensive. BUT at gatherings her salad is "swept our"!! lol!! Who can figure. Certainly not I. Smh!!! Continue to have fun in the kitchen with basic hand and food prep skills. Cleanliness is next to Godliness!! Be blessed. QEMG ..SC bwo PA.

I know to each their own but I do not peel my potatoes I boil them in the skin. Absorbs too much water and I put them in the fridge overnight and yes I drain my sweet salad cubes didn't want that juice makes for a sloppy salad and I pat my dry my pimento. I also bake my sweet potatoes when making my sweet potato pies. Baking retains the sugar. I also rice my potatoes to get the strings out.
