I am so thankful of that. You put this on the Internet because I’ve been dealing with my children having lymph nodes, and I’ve been having health anxiety for a very long time with them and doctors are telling me they’re fine, but I can’t get over it and the more I find the more crazy things that I worry about and now that I found you I can finally start to rationalize a little bit and I really appreciate that. Yes! It took me a while to realize this. I took a 1cm bead I had laying around in my craft drawer and I put 3 layers of microfibre cloth over it and it felt 50% larger than 1cm... the fat and skin (even muscle) increase the width you’re feeling. An ultrasound would show its real size and not the altered size with the thickness of skin over top.

Thank you for this informative video💙. Last year I was worried about lymphoma as well. I was getting all of the symptoms because I had read all of the lymphoma symptoms on google to give myself some reassurance that I didn’t have the symptoms but I ended up getting pretty much all of the symptoms a few days later. I would constantly feel for lymph nodes in my neck, armpits, and groin every 10 minutes. I was scared to check but I also was scared to not check this vicious cycle lasted for about 2 months. I remember shaving under my arms and after a few weeks later I developed a lump there it was quite small but painful. I instantly went into a full blown panic attack because I knew it was a swollen lymph node. My doctor told me that it was just an ingrown hair cyst from when I shaved and she also said it’s more common for ethnic people like me to get them. I was very reassured and the ingrown hair cyst shrunk every time that I would take a bath or shower.

I wish I had seen your videos 5 years ago because I had a lymph node in the neck/supraclavicular area. Had I known it was measured by the width I wouldn't have been so concerned. Instead, I went to several doctors who all kept saying to come back in x number of weeks. They weren't terribly concerned but I worried about it for almost 7 months. For nothing. Turns out, it wasn't enlarged at all. In short, I think the best advice you have given is to do an eye exam first and don't even mess with actually feeling for the lymph node because most of us don't know what we're really looking for anyway.

@@rubiyasayed5705 It depends on where the lymph node is located but, if it's in the neck or the supraclavicular area, the first thing I will say is to stop and think about whether or not you have had a cold, a sore throat, a tooth ache or an earache within the last couple of weeks or so. If that's the case--then don't worry as an enlarged lymph node is actually a good sign. Hard to believe, I know, but it's your body's defense mechanism doing its job. So that's good. LIkewise, don't touch it! Otherwise, you could cause it to stay enlarged longer than necessary. Last thing, if it lasts longer than 3 weeks or so--or if it is really large--then go see a doctor. In any case, I hope everything goes well.

@@rubiyasayed5705 I imagine you've already been to a doctor on this but, if not, then I would mention this at your next appointment. Quite honestly, I don't think you have anything to worry about at all. Keep in mind that the actual statistics for a lymph node signifying cancer is about 1.1%. And your lymph node doesn't sound like anything to even be concerned about. Also, it would be good to remember that lymph nodes essentially trap viruses and bacteria and, when they do, they go into a node where they are killed and then recycled. Sometimes it takes a lot of time. Also, if you have "chronic" tonsillitis then your node will probably stay slightly enlarged during the whole time. Quite honestly, if I were you (and I also have a lymph node--in my supraclavicular area no less--which has not gone down) I would not worry about it.

Doctor explained to me, that there is not really any space for it to move + skin on the back of the neck is much thicker than in the front so it seems even bigger. Other specialists have said the same thing before.
