You are so spot on. The more I touched lymph nodes the more tender they had become. That immediately increased anxiety. I've been saying a lot of positive affirmations around health to reduce my insanity and it seems to be helping. This is a great video that I'm sure a lot of people struggle with. You are awesome.

I am anxious about this now too. I found it, kept tapping it, poking it, then forgot for 2 days and I checked thought was gone. But then I checked again and again until I felt it every time I touched below my jaw on the left side. Cannot see it but I feel it when touching my skin. Read all about all kind of lymphomas now. I am literally a mirror of how you were behaving. And I try to fight this health anxiety but somehow it catches me in these loops where I get like in a trance. Just checking and checking and verifying if it's still there or if it grew or I I have other symptoms.

Dunno if this will get buried or not but thanks for doing this vid! I’ve been struggling with anxiety regarding my health for the last year now. Always touching my glands and feeling and them to make sure that I don’t have lymphoma or a metastasized tumor from somewhere else. I started going to more and more doctors visits because I get so far gone in my own head and thoughts, Googling symptoms and then believing that I have this disease or that disease. Just to find out from the actual doctors that I’m healthy. Not to be cheesy but you really helped settle the anxious thoughts that seem to permeate my thoughts all day. Sorry for the rant, but I’m glad I’m not the only one who does these things or feels this way.

I saw two doctors and they confirmed to me that there is nothing to worry about and that it's normal but my brain is not convinced and I keep looking in Google and of course Google will always bring the worst cases and put them in front of you.

Not that it is anything to worry about it just eases your mind a lot. The risk of it being worse than it is is rare and googling it really doesn’t help as they shove the worst right in front of your face. You will only freak yourself out even more and set yourself in a paranoid state. Ive felt mine for about a week or so and sort of have a cold. I have a fairly weak immune system as it is due another medical condition but hopefully that it all it is. Usually they go from anywhere between 1-3 weeks but can also stay permanently and thats just how it is. Hope everything works out for you as hopefully the same for me and others.

@@gettingfactsoutthere yeah I’ve got an ultrasound for my neck on the 5th next week so hopefully it goes okay - I’ve also come down with the flu now so some are swollen and can feel some more in my neck, for some reason this flu seems to have got rid of the bulk of that anxiety I had however I am still concerned, my lymph nodes aren’t huge, biggest one is probably around 1cm or so but they do feel pretty firm and 2 seem to be symmetrical and have like a little chord coming off them, not sure if that’s due to me always touching them and making them irritated, I was feeling around my neck earlier and found like a hard piece of bone that feels like a bit of a ball almost but I’m sure I’ve felt for years but can’t quite remember if it has been there for that long or not, I do recall feeling it in my neck a few years ago so think it’s normal - I’ll let you know how the ultrasound goes though, have been dealing with health anxiety for around 4 months now

@Alex Volpe Mine was also like a small ball, but it moved around very easily, and I had only one. Mine also wasn't visible at all, I could only tell that there was something up if I touched it. Bacteria can also cause it to swell up maybe if you touched your mouth with unwashed hands, etc.

24 year old Lymphoma survivor here. On the flip side, please don’t ignore a swollen lymph node especially if it’s alongside other symptoms and has been swollen for more than 4+ weeks.
I agree with not checking them constantly its not necessary. If they’re not very prominent and you have no other symptoms then do not panic. However, I don’t agree with them ‘always being obvious and visible to the naked eye’. I had a 5cm mass in my neck and it wasn’t really visible to the naked eye. Half of it was tucked beneath my collar bone and the chain of nodes in your neck extend to below your collar bone - it was not visually obvious by any means.
I saw 6 doctors before I was referred for further testing and yes they do just watch and wait but my mass was paired with so many other symptoms that I later learned were the classic symptoms for lymphoma. Also, I’m in the ‘prime’ age range for lymphoma (between 20-40 or those aged over 75). My oncologist was surprised I was not referred sooner but here we are. But yes as she said, do not be poking and prodding them all the time, you will make them swell and this only worsens anxiety.
For me as a survivor, I am advised to check lymph node sites monthly and I do this every month. Monthly is a good general rule, another good thing to note is if you’re always feeling them i.e daily, you’re likely to miss any changes in them. It’s similar to when someone is losing weight, the person themselves don’t notice it because they look in the mirror daily and miss small changes, but other people they see less regularly can visibly see the difference and this is simply because they do not see that person daily and there’s bigger changes over longer periods of time than short. I’m currently at the highest risk of relapse so it’s important for me to check but for the average healthy person there’s no need to panic about an enlarged lymph node, keep an eye on it and please don’t constantly poke at it, if you’re really concerned have a health professional examine.
Since my diagnosis, I do suffer from health anxiety which is pretty common amongst cancer survivors, my oncologist informed me that it’s only natural to worry. I’ve had therapy for this and feel much better in myself, though I do still have scanxiety and if I have prolonged symptoms for anything I often worry. But this is something that should be worked on for any one who experiences health anxiety. It’s so hard when you’re constantly worrying about becoming unwell or dying. But you have to not let those feelings run and ruin your life. I’ve learnt to live everyday because if I don’t the only person missing out is me and I won’t let my health destroy who I am or take away my happiness.
I do love watching your videos, it’s really helped me to know that there’s so many other people out there with fears much like mine. However, I just wanted to also share knowledge from a different perspective and that things aren’t always as obvious as was described in this video.
Sending love and positive vibes to all ❤️

Hi Cherelle, I‘m from germany and I struggle with health anxiety for about 3 years, since my babyboy was 6 month old… I‘m afraid to die so I can‘t be there for my little son, the love of my life😢
I can also feel some lymph nodes on my neck and also somewhere else on my body and this health anxiety is one of my hardest. A few days ago I found two „new lymph nodes“, one on my neck, one near by my ear and my anxiety kicks in. I‘m like „its a lymphoma and I‘m definetly going to die soon and my son will be raised without his mother“. Those thoughts make me cry every single day 😔 I was at two different doctors and both told me everything is fine, after they made an ultrasound, but at least I don‘t believe it‘s true. Thank you so much for making videos about health anxiety and the symptoms, that makes me feel that I‘m not alone. Lots of love ❤

If I'm like this at my age with no chronic illnesses and generally fit and healthy, I can't imagine what other people must be going through. I wish all of you good health and patience 🙏

Hey Guys, I’ve been struggling with Health anxiety for awhile now. My new fear is lymphoma! Have one swollen or normal I don’t know node on the side of my neck. I’m just wondering if ppl deal with drs saying different things? My one dr wouldn’t do any tests he swears I’m okay everything is fine. Went to get a second option and she is sending me for blood work and maybe an ultrasound depending on what the blood works says!!! Now I’m having such bad anxiety like she’s worried. I don’t know what’s better a Dr saying your fine or a dr testing you!

Being investigated for lymphoma currently, but more from things that have been going on for a couple of years now, not just the recent "explosion" of lymph nodes. It is really hard not to want to touch them all the time, so I've kinda made it a rule where I'm waiting a couple days in between checking them for size differences. That way, if there's changes, I know it wasn't from me irritating it. Or like newly enlarged ones that I haven't touched at all before. That way I'm not pointlessly working myself up.

I self-diagnosed trigeminal shingles a couple of months ago. Very hard lump at my jaw joint [this was my body fighting like a mofo to get rid of the infection], painful itching like HELL, and a few other symptoms. I think it's a good idea to look into things. Most of the time swollen lymph glands are nothing to worry about, especially if you're fighting off an infection--that's what they do. But if they are persistently swollen, you keep getting sick, etc. etc. go to the doctor no matter what Google says.

Oh this is so me. I have found 2 lymph nodes in my daughter's neck 2 years ago. And they are still there. At first i didnt worry to much. When her doc checked it some time ago, he said its normal for slim children like her. She had a cbc some months ago, wich came back normal. She is full of energy, she doesnt sweat too much (i mean normal sweating), not pale, her appetite hasnt changed, the lymph nodes are not very very soft, but they definitively move freely. These past days, i see her and i cry thinking the worst. Even if she is playing like she always does. And i touch them too much. I know i need to stop, but its stronger then me. I think i made them swell a little bit more by touching. Can please someone share with me their experiences with their kids, similar to mine? I am literally stressing so much about it.

hello Cherelle thanks for your video's all the time i needed it. I hope you see this reaction and hope you can help me. I have hypochondria and now i have a new worry, i have a really tiny small lymphnode maybe like 2mm lets say 1,5 cm above the collarbone. Your video's always helped me alot but i rememberd always that you said: arround the collarbone is abnormaI and you should let it check by a doctor, i have been by the doctor for it and he saïd its nothing to worry, its really small and moveable. And completly normal he told me we have this lymphnodes also in the collarbone, he said its so small only if it get bigger come back but he think that will not happen. Me a hypochonder, is so difficilult to believe its nothing. I never felt it before but to be honest i also never felt or try it to feel there i am terrified for feel things. My question concrete: Can i really believe my doctor that its okey and that is also because is small like 2 mm even if it's above the collarbone i hope you will say yes! Let it go! I will do it then that's for sure, i'm done with this hypochondria ......Thanks for your videos !
