  • For the surgeon, minimally invasive fusions are done in a much smaller space via a tube, so it’s technically a more challenging procedure. For the patient, the hardest part may be that there’s little benefit to choosing a minimally invasive route for fusion over open surgery, and the recovery time remains the same.
    For both of these reasons, I have moved away from the most minimally invasive tube fusions to provide maximum benefits to the patient without adding recovery time.
