    I am watching this because my mother had a colonoscopy done and had to have 7 polyps removed. Thankfully they were removed but the simple fact that they were surgically removed is what concerns me. They probably didn't even tell her how big they were because she didn't mention that detail to me. But I really pray that none of hers turn out to be cancer. We have already lost my Dad over a year ago. And the very last thing that I need is for my mother to end up with some form of colon cancer because I don't know if I can save her from all that and I don't want to lose both of my parents in such a short time. That would be devastating for me. 😓

    I just had a colonoscopy yesterday and the doctor said he removed 1 small polyp but however his notes mentioned polyps. I’m confused about how many there actually were now. I’m praying it wasn’t cancer. I have an uncle who had colon cancer about a year or two ago and yesterday found out my grandma on moms side had polyps that were either cancer or getting ready to turn in to cancer and my mom had a polyp years ago and her two sisters and a brother also had polyps. I’m terrified something bad will come of this. It’s worried me sick about it til the pathology report comes back.

    • @jlilly8144
      @jlilly8144 Год назад +2

      If he removed it, you should be fine. That's the point of a colonscopy. My first one 18 yrs ago found a adenomatous polyp and they removed it. That's a type of precancerous polyp or one that could possibly turn into a cancer. Removing it removes the chances of cancer. I then had one ten years after that and it was clear. Today, I had my third and they again found a tiny polyp, possibly another adenomatous one, and removed it.This is why it's important to have colonoscopies. It removed the possibility of cancer....

    In my case, I developed an undiagnosed severe anemia that weakened my immune system so much that I got shingles . Went to the ER and was diagnosed with severe anemia which required multiple blood transfusions and iron infusion. The culprit was a bleeding colon polyp of 4 centimetres that was removed. That was 4 months ago, and I am slowly getting my strength back. Next ( second ) colonoscopy will be in one year from the first. Just a simple blood test triggered a search for the source of the bleeding, that test saved my life

    This is good to know. All the more reason to skip an invasive colonsocopy and use Cologuard instead. Cologuard detects 94% of stage 1 and 2 cancers, virtually the same as colonoscopy but without the risks. Problem is that when any polyp is detected during a colonoscopy you're put on a schedule to go back every 3-5 years-even a single very small polyp.

      Is that right? Does cologuard really detect cancer?

      @@Hjkmaz I had a colon guard three years ago, so I was due again and I decided to do another colorguard, the first one came out fine… Well this one picked up blood I believe with DNA changes, the best thing to do is just get a colonoscopy because it did not detect mine three years ago and I had a 1 inch polyp… this was in February I go back in August to make sure that they got it all.. I’ll probably have to go every 2 to 3 years now for the rest of my life
