During the whole video I had the biggest respect to Will for showing us his colonoscopy. It's a procedure few people want to do and even less wants to talk about, especially guys, especially black guys. So to see Will Smith doing it is very very impactful, so I really bow to you for that.
But then at the end it reveals that they even found a polyp!!
So it went from "Wow, Will is such an amazing person who actually shows this procedure for us" to "Woooow.... it was really good that they did that then... this procedure really is necessary.....".
thank you so much, Will! ❤

Júlia Kercsmár If it helps, my dad got a colonoscopy for IBS, they said he was fine (bar the IBS) and he said the worst part was the prepping with not eating and the flushing. The procedure on him was done while he was asleep (don’t know if they can also do it whilst you’re awake), when he came to and woke up properly he was gassy and felt some soreness, but it was really irrelevant. The worst part was the prep and getting your mind over the fact it’s a camera in your anus.

Don't worry about it. I'm had one 3 weeks ago. I'm in the UK and you don't get anesthetic. You do have the option of being sedated but I chose not to. I just used Gas and Air, Entonox. It meant that I wasn't restricted by what I could do for the rest of the day. I was driving later that day as I felt fine. Some people even drive themselves to the appointment.

It should be said that this is not how a normal colonoscopy is performed. If you're an average, healthy person, you're not going to be under anesthesia, and you don't get any drugs at all (this was my experience, at least). They give you a pair of shorts with an opening in the back and tell you to lay on your side. The funny thing is, having a colonoscopy about three years ago is actually a fond memory of mine because I got to see my insides in super-HD; parts of me that had never seen light before, while the doctor explained what we were seeing on the screen which had the live camera feed and a 3D representation of how the camera chord was forming within my body.
Aside from about five seconds of slight discomfort as he was adjusting the chord, I felt no pain at all. All was well, and I have zero fear of the next inevitable check-up.
I'm now realizing that I am replying to the wrong comment, and I have no idea who I was trying to reply to :P ..but there it is. If you think something might be wrong or you just want to make sure you're healthy, get checked. It's not a big deal at all.

I'm both glad and not glad he took a picture anyway. Glad, because there would have been such a fuss about him being mean about it. Or "above" his fans. And NOT glad, because he didn't stand up for himself when he didn't feel well. If I were a fan, at a hospital, in an elevator with Will Smith, I would probably ask him if he's alright. Thank you for sharing. My son is only 17 years African American as well and is getting a Colonoscopy today. It all started with blood in his stools twice and so the next step is Colonoscopy. Hoping all goes well today. Thanks for being in awareness and being so brave. Blessings to you and your family 💕

Blood in stools is not always a sign of cancerous polyp.. It may be a bacterial infection..But, yes blood in stools prolongs for over 5-6 days then it is a matter of concern...
