I think you're right about the reason for fire escapes being quick and easy exit from a burning building, especially from a higher floor. I think it's also to do with some buildings not having internal stairways, and elevators are not safe for use during a fire. That's probably in much taller buildings though
Fire escapes excist in case the main stair case is blocked of modern buildings often have a emergency stair case in the building itself which means you don´t need an exterior one I believe, I am not an expert
I think another good idea for san my would be a fancy office for freelance gameplay and could do it on one of the roof top lots can list it as a cafe to work well but it's sooo amazing for gameplay. Love love this build can't wait for your save file ❤

A beautiful build, as always, my only criticism being the guitar shop, as a retail store would have merchandise facing the windows to draw customers into the store. Also, specific to the guitar service industry, a guitar/music shop would realistically need a small area dedicated to musical instrument repairs. A guitar shop would also sell amps and strings, all kinds of "bits and bobs" go along with any stringed instrument. But loved the video...

I’ve already built a coffee shop/ cafe using CC too! It’s not industrial though because I was building some Parisian apartments and wanted the retail part to also feel like it was set in Paris! & thank you! 🥰🤍

Elevators are generally shut down during building fires. If there's a fire on the third floor, people above that floor are safer using an internal concrete stairwell or exterior fire escape.
Recently I visited Nijmegen, a town in the Netherlands. This reminds me so much of it. Despite the amount of different structures and aesthetics, furniture and clutter, in the end: everything comes together. What an awesome build!

Just add the coffee for $9 a cup and it’s perfect!!😂 There is one detail I might suggest to make it even more NYC. A lot of the old buildings are called “dumbbell tenements” (one you google it you’ll see) and the bricks on the interior of these shaft spaces are the ugliest bricks you can imagine Bc it was economical to put these there since they weren’t gonna be seen from the street. Awesome build!
I am missing 3 packs though.... Journey to Batuu, Spa Day and Dine out.... Are they very essential to the build? Sigh - I might even just get them simply for this - because it's everything I was looking for....

You’re correct. Fire escapes are on the outside especially if the fire is inside.
