    What really hit me was when you can just feel in the last moment before he cuts them off he just wants to stay in that moment forever. He was even hesitant to release them. So many tears!

      That look on his face actually got me to tear up. I couldn't imagine how that felt to him, how special that was. I mean, I could, but not in full. Damn.

    I'm a junior in high school considering auditioning for a drum corp my senior year, and I was looking into groups to consider auditioning for. I heard about the Troopers, which is only 2 states away from where I live, and think to myself "would this be a good corp to try out?" I look more and more into this corp, and then I find this video and, suddenly, my eyes are tearing up. I think this is a calling.
    UPDATE 8/12/2021:
    Im currently one of the 2021 Troopers, marching euphonium this season. Today is semifinals day, and I'm just standing here at the farm taking it all in. I made it. This is the place where this video was filmed, and where my journey started. It's been a long one, but I really do believe it's been worth my while. Just to be a Trooper really is what means the most right now, and I can only hope I get to march another season.

    This is simultaneously one of the most spectacular and most stupendous memorable moments in DCI history. Gabe was one if not one of the best drum majors in DCI History! I’m absolutely blown away at the enthusiasm and pride he has too have been marching in the DCI for 8 years! No wonder why he’s emotional and absolutely enthusiastic. Such a wonderful and amazing guy.

  • @522Dusty
    @522Dusty 16 дней назад

    Troopers dominated DCI from it's start. They have persevered through tough times and again have become a top 10 contender. Rich with history every member should carry a great pride in accomplishment with them throughout their life.

    What a beautiful tribute to those Trooper members "RETIRING" from active service with a drum corps that etched memories in these members minds. They will last their lifetime. The rehearsals, the contests, and many other activities that will always be in their memory. What an honour it had to be a part of.... I wish you the best in whatever you will undertake in your future. I was a part of a drum corps in my area. I considered being a member of the drum corps community taught me many things. Belonging, discipline, working with others, just to name a few things. I met new people and made great friends. Many of them I still am in touch with even today. It was so good to be a part of this world wide movement...

    Man this got to me big time. I had an instructor years ago (either HS Band Director or staff with The Academy) that perfectly describes the feeling everyone in the circle, on the grass, or conducting is experiencing:
    “LIVE IN THIS MOMENT. When you play that last note, you will beg and plead ‘Please, God, let this final chord, this moment, last forever.’ It will be devastating for you when the answer is inevitably ‘No,’ and you will spend the rest of your life willing to give up ANYTHING and EVERYTHING just to play that chord one more time.”
    And they were absolutely right. I would give up every possession and every penny I own to be back with the 2009 Academy Hornline, even for a fraction of a second.

    Quite a moving video! I had the privilege to be in the marching band in high school (35+ years ago) and I know the emotion I experienced with my last performance. Gabe demonstrated the passion he had for Troopers. Watching him brought back a flood of emotions for myself. Thank you Gabe for being true to yourself and allowing us to share in the moment. Carry that passion throughout the rest of your walk in life no matter where it takes you. It will serve you well!

    I've been following the Troopers for over 50 years and I'm always astounded by the professionalism and dedication of these young people and their directors. My father took me to my first Troopers performance at Cheyenne East High for Drums Across The Rockies and I was hooked. I can't carry a tune in a bucket but I love hearing and watching the Troopers.

    I've only been into the Troopers for a couple of years now but this corp is really inspiring to me. One thing that's always lacked in all my years of marching band was an established culture where one could be welcomed with open arms, and I'm really hoping to get in this upcoming year as a conductor/drum major. This video is so awesome because I just love how one can truly tell the conductor loves this corp simply through the movement of arms and music. A wonderful video to come back to occassionally.

    This is literally the first ever vid I saw of the troopers and I'm bout to cry. Are you freaking kidding me? It hit me at the end when Gabe paused before he cut off and it took me back to when I did band in high school. Even tho it was just a year ago I agree to a certain extent. I haven't done dci yet but planning to in the next year or two or whatever. Kinda scared now because I don't want to feel this again cuz it sucks.
