    😍 I didn't know mooncakes were that simple in ingredients. The designs are what usually got me. I thought people carved those in or something. Lol

      @Yogirliej4dee 6 лет назад

      unknowndeoxys00 the ingredients look simple but precise measurement is needed. It is why my grandmother told me how hard it is for beginners since if the early process is messed up the outcome is effected, like too much paste can make shaping hard to do.

    Thanks so much for the video! I'm also really glad that this whole "Mike drops in to steal food every episode" joke has become permanent already. Keep up the good work everyone!

    • @Yogirliej4dee
      @Yogirliej4dee 6 лет назад

      Green Kitty it is very time consuming, due to the making of the outer dough, lotus paste and the egg yolk. The process requires precise refrigeration and molding.

      Paulyn Goi I like those ones stuffed with meat... Why dont they use this mold for making Baozi? Probably after the teaming, the shape of those bums will be messed up...but not the baked ones... why Baozi have to be steamed? Can you bake Baozi? Probably not they will become too dry to eat...

      Calligraphy
      We have red bean cake with sweet potato here in Japan. Maybe you can cut into small circles to make it look like the moon. Cook and cool the sweet potatoes before filling the moon cakes.

    I heard somewhere that moon cakes are the equivalent of fruitcake for Christmas: nobody actually likes eating it but people give it out for symbolic reasons and because it's tradition. Is there any truth to this?

    Hi Mike & team, i'm a big fan of several of your channels but I just want to give a little bit of criticism. I know that this is your channel and you can do whatever you want, but in my opinion, you could have cut 1 full minute of the video with the whole Chinese goddess explanation. I'm not really interested in the whole CheNews & Chen dynasty style type of videos and I kind of see this video have little bit of a mix in it. I believe this channel is about food and cooking and it should stay that way in my opinion. Again, it's your channel and you can do whatever you want but I just want to see some quality content from you guys. Whether you take my criticism into consideration or not, i'll still support you guys! Keep up the great work.

      Nothing wrong with learning the history of food. Just like nothing wrong with the science of food (Good Eats is the best show Food Network had!)
