No, datejust needs jubilee but fluted bezel for dressy watch and smooth bezel for every day watch… IMHO
Nope, seen both domed and fluted bezel side by side and I absolutely HATED the fluted bezel.
What a stunning piece. This watch is literally perfect. I have a wrist circumference of 19cm and I’d still buy the 36mm. Wear it in the best of health!

@Club Soda that’s correct! Datejust can be your perfect dress watch, however it also looks good as a daily/casual wear. The line between the dressy - sports watches is now becoming more and more blurred. It’s all up to what you love to wear as a watch collector.

I think that watch is absolutely stunning. The blue dial really pops and I think the 36mm fits your wrist perfectly. Let us face it 36 mm is the classic size for the Datejust and your correct the bezel ads to the size. I've just purchased a two tone rose gold 2021 DD with plane bezel and oyster bracelet, about as sporty as a DD gets. I've never been a fan of the fluted bezel and I prefer the oyster bracelet. But each to their own. I hope you get many, many years of enjoyment from that sexy watch, I would be proud of it and it will serve you well, congratulations, you deserve it.
Thank you very much! There are a few approaches to watches and specifically Datejusts. Classic Datejust - fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet. But, if you really want something more practical to wear every day, then go for the smooth bezel and Oyster. Ultimately, it’s all personal preference when it comes to various configurations of Datejust. Keep well!
Absolutely beautiful watch!
I believe that this exact combination of size, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet is the the best choice. Fluted bezel gives that unique identity and overall character of this watch. The new motif dial is awesome too but it is too flashy. The smooth bezel is nice but the fluted one is so classy and playful enough to fall in love with it..just THE perfect watch in my humble opinion..enjoy the ride!

@@TheWatchCEO I think, that this Datejust 36 ref. 126234, is now, on the best design, rolex could ever made. Interesting, how they would chance the design in the future. My opinion. Best choice, don't sell it! I think, the blue dial wouldn't rest for ever and will became discounted one day..:) BR from Switzerland
Picking this up from someone next week. It'll be by third, as I've got a 2 tone black dial daytona and a Wimbledon two tone with rose gold. Can't wait to scale down the size a bit with this 36mm.
It’s good to have a variety in terms of size, material and complication. This way, you won’t get bored of what you have. Although, 36mm will appear small for a couple of days of you owning it, you’ll get used to it.
This looks incredible. I wear t-shirts and joggers most of the time so not sure I could make fluted+jubilee work but I wish I dressed a bit more smart - I’d have this in a heartbeat

Very nice watch and thanks for sharing. I believe the fluted bezel is white gold while the smooth bezel is stainless, hence would justify the price difference. But I could be wrong
Thanks for watching! You’re right. But, my question was whether the gold fluted bezel option is worth the premium, compared to stainless steel bezel. Because if you were to compare the scrap value of the gold bezel, it would be much much less.
However in my opinion this particular combination is the best.

I would say yes in my opinion. Only being that it is what I would want in a Datejust. For me, the fluted bezel is more elegant and timeless while the smooth, although still nice, is in a more modern class for Rolex. A little less style and more contemporary but hey if that’s what you want, go for it.
@@rbtjorg I went for the fluted bezel, only because it simply belongs on the Datejust. Before that purchase, I was so close to buying a smooth bezel version, however when I tried it on my wrist, it just seemed like it wasn’t a ‘full’ Datejust. Had to wait a few weeks for the 126234. Stunning piece!

If you got it in a light colour (like silver or white) it would look bigger. But the blue does look great!

Great video and nice watch. I have a Yacht Master rhodium, but thinking to use that for social occasions. Do you think this would be good for business/formal occasions without being too flashy? I want a watch for this purpose and I'd prefer a bracelet over a leather strap.
It is a great watch for the purpose. Rhodium dial keeps it less flashy. It’s both suitable for formal and informal occasions.

@@anahita0817 that’s a great one, actually! The dial is something else. However, I wouldn’t pay the huge premium for diamonds. It’s just not worth it.

It's all personal preference, I agree. For me, smooth bezel = practicality & fluted bezel = aesthetics

I’d probably say go for the 36mm version, however it’s a personal preference. It stays on the wrist very nicely. However, some people buy the 41mm because it’s just more watch and the dial is bigger.
What number & price?
I would cut of an arm for that watch, just not my left arm it’s my watch arm. But I might need a 41mm for my big Wrist, but very nice!!
Lol! I love the 36mm, as it’s a classic Datejust. However, 41mm is a better option for today’s ‘standards’.
I got mine just before my 22nd birthday, and it looks amazing. It’s the same one, and since the first time I ever saw it, I fell in love with it. This is my first Rolex and I got it on my own from 0. Many more to come 🙏

Disagree with your comment about the datejust needing a fluted bezel, it looks good on your beautiful blue sunburst dial and jubilee bracelet yet for example with a silver dial and oyster bracelet, the smooth bezel is more suitable and creates a more tool watch style look. Both can be very nice.
That’s absolutely true! With this blue dial I just had to have fluted bezel. When I visited my Rolex AD, I saw the one with smooth bezel, however it didn’t look complete. Then I asked for a fluted bezel version. The original Datejust I’ve always loved was the old 16000 from late eighties.
Silver dial Datejust with Oyster bracelet and smooth bezel is brilliant - super practical and wearable.

Perfect watch. I tried on the black dial version recently and that's the one I'm on the waiting list for. 7k is an insane amount of money for a watch, but we are insane people in the watch community!!! I do worry about the bezel denting, but I'll make sure that for any intense hikes or outdoor activities I'll use my trusted G Shock

You’ll incur some minor scratches on the bezel anyway, but as long as you don’t dent it, you’ll be fine.

@@Valera_Scotland the watch is shiny as the jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel have a lot of surfaces to reflect the light from, however in stainless steel the watch isn’t considered flashy. For me, it’s one of the most versatile watches that you can get in terms of Rolex these days.
Treat it with respect and you’ll get great use out of it!

I'm panicking becuase my AD has one with price in the window (so not for exhibition only) and I'm sure it won't be there for long, should I pull the trigger or not?
I really really love the Datejust in this configuration and I'm looking for a 36mm Rolex, but I'm undecided if I should go for something blingy like the Datejust or for something more under the radar (at least for people that don't know a lot about watches) and tool watch-like like the Explorer...man that's a tricky decission for me right now
They’re completely different watches, but what I can tell you is that this watch brilliant. A classic Datejust in a modern body. Explorer is also good but less elegant and more practical to wear every day. I love the shine and reflections that just spread across various surfaces of the Datejust.

You know, initially I thought the same thing, as I'm used to the hidden clasp, however I do must say I like the new styled bracelet. You just have to get used to it.
That looks huge for a 36.
Might just an impression from the camera. The watches presented through lens always appear slightly bigger than they really are.

How hard are these to get from Rolex AD's?
Not too difficult. You might be able to get one in 1-3 months. Depends on your local AD, of course.

It is indeed. However, I do tend to wear bigger sized watches from other brands like IWC, Panerai or Omega.

I care less about “today’s standard”. That’s a beautiful watch.
You've got to have a large wrist to wear a 40mm watch otherwise it can look plain silly. That size rolex suits you great.
Every single watch looks big on my wrist, when I'm recording a video. In person, it looks much smaller! haha

The non fluted bezel is a 100 meter water resistant sorts watch. It doesn’t get the acclaim that other sports watches get because anyone with the money can buy it. You don’t have to make friends with an AD.
You can often find it on a display. If they don’t have it immediately, then you can probably get it within 1-2 weeks. From a practical point of view, it is a perfect daily wear. However, for me, it has to be the fluted bezel version, even though it’s not as practical as the smooth.

@@TheWatchCEO Nothing like a new Rolex. We spend these absurd amounts of money on these things we don’t really need, yet give us so much pleasure. My dealer said he would get me a Sub if I want it. I can’t spend another 10 grand on a watch and not get hammered by my wife. I even offered to buy her a Rolex, but she doesn’t want it.
@@rickjason215 sometimes I think that all watch collectors are a bit autistic, constantly hunting for new watches, it never really stops! The worst thing that can happen is being offered a new sports Rolex and not being able to purchase it lol!
Datejust is a good dress watch, they aren’t for everyday

The Datejust less fluted bezel makes it a decent every day watch. But, the configuration you go for is just a personal preference.
Just picked up mine I wear it daily I think it is super versatile it's very sporty even with jubilee and fluted....I agree with video that the fluted bezel completes the watch
