  • @augiedoggie

    The 36mm Rolex wears slightly larger than it sounds on paper, in my opinion. I think most of that is due to the case shape and how the lugs taper away from the case sort of like a tonneau or cushion shaped watch. Also, the fact that these are on metal bracelets adds to their apparent size as well.

      The AD actually mentioned that I would have the option of changing the dial colour of my Datejust wherever I put it in for service but I don't think I would. There's obviously a reason I went for the black dial and its because it was the best looking to my eye.

      Let's be realistic, nowadays in an expedition nobody will wear a explorer, there are watches made by Garmin for example which provide information on air pressure, altitude, compass, gps... 30 years ago you could go with an explorer, nowadays is a complete non sense. I have a silver dj36 smooth bezel on oyster bracelet and picked up the new explorer 36mm last week. They can happily live together as the wearing experience is different between the two watches. Hi! Looking for my wedding watch and leaning towards datejust36 black with jublie. However, I’m stuck between dome vs fluted.. I want this to be an everyday + dressy occasion. Hence my style is more simple and minimal. I’m leaning towards dome but people tell me fluted is the iconic symbol of date just and that the dome looks inconsistent with jublie. What’s your take after owning the dome bezel + jublie configuration? Thanks!

    • @TimWrite
      @TimWrite  2 года назад +2

      Thank you for the question, Tom. I really think that for everyday domed and oyster would be best bet. Oyster is just a more robust and resilient bracelet. Jubilee, on the other hand is more dressy and delicate. When it comes to the bezel, domed is once again better for every day use, especially during these turbulent times when watch crime is on the rise. There’s a reason why fluted bezel is iconic, it’s very easily recognizable!! While that’s great for flexing your watch, I don’t think it’s a great option for a watch that you can take on a life’s journey around the world with you. That’s my advice. Cheers

      Domed looks better on the DJ36. I’ve tried on loads of them. If you spend time in joggers and shorts and t-shirts or if you’re just lounging around at home - a jubilee and fluted just looks ridiculous. The oyster is super robust and the domed bezel looks super sporty! I’m trying to get a silver 126200 myself right now.

    How do you feel about the proportions of both of these watches. I tried on the 36mm date just...no issues at all with the size - seemed great. Then i went in to try the 36mm TT explorer....it seemed smaller and i had a bit of a sinking feeling about it (still on the list for the steel only). That may sound crazy..i was wondering if its to do with the proportions. Any thoughts?

    • @TimWrite
      @TimWrite  3 года назад +2

      DJ has a wider bracelet 20mm vs 19mm of the Explorer I. The polishing and the fluted bezel also make the DJ feel larger then it is. But the Explorer in my opinion is a more refined, I’m guessing the updates that happened in the Explorer are going to transition over the the DJ in the next revamp.
      Here’s the deal: Explorer does not feel like there’s anything on your wrist yet it’s completely legible in all conditions. It’s a watch to tell the time and nothing else. If you are worried whether it’s too small from fashion perspective then you’ve got the wrong watch.

Last time that I looked at a DJ in person with the jubilee and the fluted bezel combo, I thought it was 'too much', kind of 'costumey' but maybe my taste has changed. Maybe the jubilee with smooth bezel is the way to go - the 'Joe/Beau Biden.' I contacted my AD and they only have one DJ in stock and no OP. True men don’t dive a fuck what anyone says about them and especially their watch.
      What is actually happening, I think, that there are insecure men that try to use watches as a crutch, just like hummer owners buy big vehicles to make up other deficiencies, so to make themselves “appear” more manly then they are. Don’t be a tool, don’t buy what others tell you and how they will judge you for it.
      If you wanna be a true man, that is.

      @@TimWrite I'm used to receiving comments about my insecurity, my need to compensate, dinner plates (39mm!), WWII soldiers and so on. But I'm never going to let these sub-men dictate me what size watch to wear.

      @@maitrehg what do you mean? Aren’t you literally listening to someone who’s dictating to you not to wear 36mm watch…?
