Can't wait to make these!!! Heading out to Hispanic store tomorrow to stock up . Have so many recipes I want to try. This food is my husbands favorite!!!!
Hi mama never tried this I’m from the Middle East an today made your tortillas they came out delicious . Your recipe is so clear an perfect Thanks for sharing
I’ve been cooking Mexican food for years (my mom taught me) always done by sight, no measuring of any sort. It is so refreshing in teaching others , especially Americanos . the measuring aspect and final results are great!!! Thank you for sharing. 😉
Laura, Thank you for the reminder on how to make them! Have not made tortillas since the kids went off on their own. Since it is just me I took the work around and bought (aghast) store bought! But you have encouraged me to make them again. Mom would be so proud! Thanks for the refresher course, they turned out just like I remembered. 🤗
Perfection!!~ Thank You So Much for showing this gringette...As a Child One of my dearest friends I went to Catholic school with showed me how to make them, and I've made them then..but was looking for a Tutorial that showed me it all from beginning to end. and your was the closest. she measured using her hand for the amounts of lard & salt... but seeing you dip them in flour & tap them on yer counter & using that tiny bit to flour yer counter...Was the perfect Tip... watching them puff..and not pressing the steam out to cook the centers was a great Tip too!~ again Thanks so much I Appreciate your kind sweetness in teaching... so looking forward to your next Tutorials...~{{hugs}}~
Thanks for sharing your tortilla recipe. My family loves to have tortillas with their breakfast! I'm sure they will love having these instead of store bought ones. Thanks again!!
tHANK YOU SO MUCH. I have tried other recipes and mine always came out hard and would fall apart. The would actually crumble. I know I added too much shorting. I am so happy to give yours a try.
Laura, I ordered canned tomatillos and a hint of lime Tostitos for a casserole that you had on video, and now I've lost the recipe and the video ! Can you help ? ? Finally after 20 tries with other recipe's and 5lbs of flour, for, I found this recipe for your flour tortilla and your recipe and method worked for me! Thank you ! ! !

Thank you Teresa. They don't have to be perfect. my mom use to tell me "People will not eat them round". So it's okay if they are not round. Thanks for watching.
text story with me and more :3 hello, I would add about 3 tablespoons less. And you will need to put less water, just careful not to add to much water.
This Masa looks just like my Mommas . I remember watching her make tortillas when I was little. I used to love rolling tortillas when I was little and i used to do a pretty good job too nice & round :-) and now as a grown woman I can't make tortillas for the life of me. I followed 3 recipes so far and all FAILS LOL Ughhhh I don't know what I'm doing wrong, gonna try this one, wish me luck lol
You need to change the Chanel name to “You can add, but you can’t take out “ lol. I started watching your tamale video, now I’m about 10 videos in. You are a very good teacher.
Your tortillas look great! Next time please remove the hand jewelry when cooking. Very un-hygienic by not removing. You would be surprised by what shows up on jewelry when we examine it in the Lab.

Hi Laura! Have you ever tried to melt the lard in warm water to make the tortillas?
Hello James, no I have not, but I’m sure it will work fine. I will try it next time I make tortillas. Tomorrow! Lol
Gracias Laura!! I’m gonna make these tomorrow morning.

so thrilled that you did this so soon ! I have my chicken cooking now ! Thank YOu ! !
what brand of flour do you use and do you use Bleached or unbleached flour ?
Right now I use the Gold Medal Bleached All purpose Flour. I try and make sure to always fluff the flour before using it.
@@VirtualkitchenwithLaura thank you i'm going to make these right now but I want to cut the measurements in half
@@VirtualkitchenwithLaura I made them but they didn't come out looking as good as yours they didn't rise that much for me. I will keep trying.Thank you
oh but I cut the recipe in half .Thank you yours look like my mother in laws Tortillas .
@@esmeraldacano2292 Keep practicing. It took me a while before I got them where I like them. Thanks for commenting.
Very nice! I needed a recipe!
Now if I can just roll them out round..🙁
Thank you Teresa. They don't have to be perfect. my mom use to tell me "People will not eat them round". So it's okay if they are not round. Thanks for watching.
Get an electric tortilla press
If I have oil handy , will it be the same amount as the lard?
text story with me and more :3 hello, I would add about 3 tablespoons less. And you will need to put less water, just careful not to add to much water.
Making something so simple in Latin culture but it can be intimidating. Mine have always come out square and hard. Thank you for this recipe.
Practice makes perfect. We will have to have a class. LOL
What kind skillet are you using?
It is just a regular flat griddle, the one I use to also make pancakes. You can use any skillet.
Great
thank you

Alterjunkie you will do fine. Thanks for watching.
Is there anything wrong with using bacon grease instead of lard?
I don't think so. I use it every once in a while.
miss laura can i use food processor in making the dough?
mia Tiu hello, I have never tried the processor, but I have used the stand mixer.
I cook my tortillas exactly like you. Mine always puff up too.
Mine never puffy up 😞
Mmmmm 😋
Thank you, question how far in advance can you make the dough and can you keep the prepared dough on the counter for 24 hours?
I have made it the night before, left it on the counter for morning use. I even place in the frig, just bring to room temp before use.
I like chewy tortillas... I wonder how I can get that affect
I really don't know how to do that. But maybe not adding the baking powder.
Thanks for the video. To bad your not my next door neighbor!! : - )
Thanks for watching John.
You need to change the Chanel name to “You can add, but you can’t take out “ lol. I started watching your tamale video, now I’m about 10 videos in. You are a very good teacher.
Thank you Ima. I appreciate you.
My tortillas didn’t puff up, and they were a little hard, should I have added less butter?
Sometimes when they are hard, is because you didn't add enough water.
ARE THESE LEVEL TABLESPOONS OF SHORTENING OR HEAPING SPOONFUL.?
They are level.
What would be a reason why my tortillas don’t fluff up?
Several reasons. The dough is to dry, too much baking powder, heat too low.
🤤
Thank you 🤣
Mine keep coming out hard, can you please share the measurements again to make sure Im doing it correctly?
Hello Sandra, Give this updated video a try. ruclips.net/video/Z2tWadryHEs/видео.html
Mine keep finishing like cardboard
ROTI 😀
For those that can not use a rolling pin like me , buy an electric tortilla press, about 35 dollars
Your tortillas look great! Next time please remove the hand jewelry when cooking. Very un-hygienic by not removing. You would be surprised by what shows up on jewelry when we examine it in the Lab.
Thank you Emelyn.
There’s no ingredients.
I’m very impress ! And your not even Mexican !!👏😋
Thank you Teresa for watching. I am Mexican-American.
you hide pork in your tortilla, nice going
saadamiens you don’t have to add the lard, like I mention in the video. You can add vegetable shortening
@@VirtualkitchenwithLaura I know, I am just kidding - I gotta be double careful now when I buy even bread lol
saadamiens I totally understand, not everyone eats the same food.
Maybe if get a tortilla press and it will be worth it. Rolling takes way too long
