The Pointer Sisters were extraordinary and talented. There was no genre they couldn't do, even country. And they won a Grammy in the country category! Amazing! RIP to Anita, Bonnie and June. Much love to Ruth.
Cannot imagine what Ruth is feeling now that she is the last sister surviving. I'm sure she and her two brothers simply miss their sisters alot. The sisters were legends.

They were just so good with talent to burn and I regret that I didn't take more notice of them in their heyday.
RIP Anita Pointer. I'm sure she's making beautiful music in heaven with her sisters June and Bonnie. Condolences to Ruth, the last surviving Pointer Sister.
In 1975, The Pointer Sisters won their first Grammy Award (in the Country Music category) for this song. The Pointer Sisters could do it all - and brilliantly, too.
I heard this on the car radio on the way to work in 1974. When I arrived at work (a radio station, and not the one I'd been listening to!) I told the program director that the Pointer Sisters had released a country tune. He laughed right in my face. Later, I found the single in a batch of 45s that had arrived earlier that day, and was the the first jock to play it. This was the beginning of my love affair with the Pointer Sisters.
@@moproducer I can read, sucka, you can't relate a story properly. What you meant to type was: "and was the the first jock to play it ON MY STATION". That would be like an artist seeing Da Vinci's Mona Lisa on display and then later claiming to be the first one to paint it, when what they actually meant to claim was that they were the first to copy it.
Now this is good country music! It even has a little bit of a country-gospel flavor to it. I knew the Pointer Sisters did some catchy pop-R&B in the 80s, but I'm impressed with their musical versatility. 👍

@@CoachMitchellh Don't forget Ruth singing lead. They said in an interview that they could all take the lead in their shows if the regular lead singer wasn't feeling well sometimes..
Bingo.... They can trade songs back and forth....singing about hard times and hard luck. Several thousand miners and their families spent the winter of 1920-21 in tent colonies, and in May 1921 armed conflict resumed. Again martial law was declared, this time by Governor Morgan. Union miners of the Paint Creek and Cabin Creek fields mobilized to go over to Logan and organize the miners there and, if necessary, to fight force with force. Don Chafin, sheriff of Logan County, gathered an army of 500 deputies. The governor appealed to the War Department for troops to avert a clash, and an officer was sent to observe the situation. Beginning at 3:33 the singing just goes to a whole other level. I have been listening to this song several times a day for a couple days now and I never tire of it. I don't like the recorded version as much as I like this. This is one of those songs where the live version is far superior to the studio version. There's another great live version of this song on youtube. It's from the early 80's.
This performance is a reminder that back in the 70's performers had to really step up and deliver. Nowadays many really popular pop singers lip sync all the time and it's treated like it's no big deal. Mariah Carey's New Year's Eve debacle is an example of how low the standards have become for pop singers.

I've loved this song since it was released. Anita's heart-felt lead and get sisters singing great harmony, this tune is a classic country tear-jerker. I was thrilled when I saw this clip, then I we amazed when I watched the entire show- pure gold especially the band. Initially I was disappointed that there was no pedal steel guitar in this arrangement. Now I'd rather listen to the piano fill accompany this wonderful quartet than even the studio recording. The PS had list of great songs, but this is the best by a long shot.
Originally written by the group, it must go down as a classic.
I will treasure the memories of these ladies!
I was honored to have a closer connection to Anita through a couple of great friends I still have in my heart and life today!
Anita and sisters are a legend to me!
I always loved their singing.❤️
I've always said, Some of the best BLUES you can find is in a County song.
Such a beautiful voice now gone. Thank you Bonnie for sharing your gift with us. You will be deeply missed.
I want to go back in time and carry their luggage, get their coffee, and maybe make them laugh from time to time. I was teaching dance classes to actors, playing those moving Pointer Sisters who made it so easy to move.
Love it! Rest well Anita. 1948-2022
One of my all time favorites!!! I often play this song for people, and they can never guess who is doing it. I remember when this song came out, loved it then, and love it now. A CLASSIC!!!
Fairytale and Dare Me are my 2 favorites.
Thanks, I hadn't ever heard Dare Me. It's hot!
They’re all so beautiful.
This YOU TUBE thing is awesome. I'M AMAZED. A live version of the Pointers'
Fairy Tale. Unbelievable. My first real concert. 1974. Six Flags Over Texas, Big D . Senior trip.
Thank you again for uploading this treasure!
R.I.P. Anita, Bonnie, and June. May God continue to bless and love Ruth through all of this.
They won a Grammy Award for this, back when the Grammys were for creative music.
What a joy they are .... part tribute to country (that I love too), part satire of the genre and loved it all the way through.....
No satire pure country about a real breakup black people can sing country or any type of music there's the proof.
Wow! I was a child of the 70’s and a fan of the Pointer Sisters but have never heard this song! They did an awesome job!
Excellent writing. Excellent singing, Excellent Beauty. Right on my Excellent Beautiful sisters
Now down to one member that's left from the original quartet. (RUTH) RIP...ANITA 12/31/2022
Sounds more spiritual/hymn to me than Country. As always, the sisters sound awesome and are looking beautiful.
as all 4 sing the chorus, you can clearly hear all 4 voices seperately, but in unison, not overpowering either sister. thats a spiritual blessed gift
Elvis did a great cover of this song!!!
Every time something happens we have to hear about how Elvis stole yet something else from black people. 🙄
One of my absolute favorite videos on RUclips.
