    It amazes me how people are only talking about Rybakina now, she’s been playing some great tennis for a long time. What people forget is that Iga may be number one but has never beaten Barty.

  • @falks941
    @falks941 2 года назад +116

    I’m looking forward to the ranking system fixing itself this year. Rybakina deserves to be ranked higher. She consistently performs highly in big tournaments and has been stuck where she is for too long.

    • @footfault1941
      @footfault1941 2 года назад +3

      Wide of the mark. Agreeing with her remarkable performance around the end of the previous season, criticizing the ranking system finds no base. Her better results give her more points to climb up the ranking, but that's not all. If higher ranked players mark the similar results as the preceding 52 weeks, there would be no margin for Rybakina to be ranked high. In this vein, poor performance by other players could push her up. Not straightforward at all.

    • @falks941
      @falks941 2 года назад +10

      @@footfault1941 I understand what you mean but I’m not talking about the system in general. I’m talking about the changes made because of COVID-19 where the 52-week system was temporarily abandoned. The same system that kept Federer in the top 10 of the atp rankings despite him playing no tennis for months. If Rybakina had the same results without the adjusted system, she wouldn’t have been stuck at 19/20 for months. Once the system has fully resettled, the rankings may reflect more accurately. It’s already better now that she’s made a sudden jump to #14.

      @monty niranjan well my original comment says I hope she can do this in the majors so I obviously know she needs to bring it there. But she is not a flash in the pan. As I said she’s won a lot of tournaments on different surfaces including two grand slams. I think it is only a matter of time before she win the others. In normal situations, Ash has the whole package, but there is always one player who is having the fortnight of their life (Raducanu and Fernandez at last US Open), they call it in the zone, and can beat Barty, Halep and others in a row. Also, it takes only one bad day to be out of AO for anyone. But I really hope Ash wins AO this time, I think she has way too few grand slam titles for such a great player.

    Rybakina today you faced ah legit champion that played ah tactically sound but efficient game. To have victory over her is to attack or defensive side which you already have gathered its her slice. Possibly attack off a serve & volley and definitely balls placed deep in that sides corner because she can only go mid or cross court with it. Congrats to Barty but super fun & cool outfit today Rybakina!! Continue on the awesome path ur own because ur right there 🌞✨💯✨💐

    Barty is a technical player,not a basher or a grunter!She reminds me of the glamorous Martina Hingis,who thought on the court and crushed her opponents with her master shots!Barty has clever hands and plays tennis as chess game,resembling to Martina!Good luck in AO,Ash!:)))

    It’s like Ash woke up and put her foot on the gas late in the second set with Gauff, and never let up. Up to that point she was sort of sluggish and very rusty, you could almost see her shift gears and change course♥️

    Steffi Graf, Martina NAvritilova, Ash Barty, Margaret Court....all of them knew how to use that BH slice...You'd think more women would rely on it....they all have it, but they seem to only use it for defense.

    • @kaialoha
      @kaialoha 2 года назад +1

      Modern coaches only advocate underspin on defence or change up. Good players simply run around and tattoo it. Traditional coaches taught biting slices as offence, skidding breakers that only be ladled up especially from exclusively top spinners. Then the knifer runs around and applies pace. Ref. Rosewall st Al.

      @@kaialoha The forehand slice, especially can be a good offensive weapon. I'm not saying it should take the place of the topspin forehand, but I see a lot of rallies where it would have been preferable on many strokes, especially when a player is on the run or trying to change the direction of the ball

    Noticed, barty's weapon is her forehand, she will run around to protect her weaker backhand. And folks thinks barty's forehand side is open, keeps hitting there. And barty is still young and strong enough to cover her forehand side.
