I always consider the 2 common games between them. Both played Colorado and Baylor UM beat Colorado 27-3 and Baylor 38-3 while Neb in their games beat Col 27-24 and Baylor 47-21. UM beat Baylor by 35 and Colorado by 24 (and this was under Lloyd so no running up the score) while Nebraska beat Colorado by 3 and Baylor by 26 (and Osborn was famous for not holding his team back from scoring)
Been following college football for nearly a half century.....that Michigan defense was the best I have ever seen. #1 in the nation in total defense,#1 in the nation in scoring defense,#1 in the nation in passing defense and #7 in the nation in rushing defense giving up less than 100 yards per game. First and only defensive player in win the Heisman Trophy. They defeated 7 A.P. ranked teams at the time they played them and won the AP national championship! Good Lord...has it been 22 years already?
all the Hail Marys in the world could not save Colorado on this day!!!!! i was there and loving every second of it. The start of a national championship season for Michigan (sorry, Nebraska, we would have kicked your asses and you know it) and a Heisman season for C-Wood who is now with my favorite NFL team, the Packers!
I remember this game very cleary. People forget that Colorado was a Power in the 90's up to this point. You know this had to be a Big Game if College Gameday was there. Colorado had some studs on this team. Rae Curruth & Matt Russell to name a few. Michigan dominated them. The score really dosen't show how bad Colorado got beat.
The Sporting News had them at #1, which was fitting, since it was SN that had made the comment about the block 'M' standing for 'mediocre' that this team used as motivation for much of the season.
anybody ever find it interesting that we scheduled the home and home w/ Colorado right around the time of the advent of the Wings-Avs rivalry in hockey?
I'm aware of that, i was just remarking how fitting it was that when one rivalry briefly sprung up between Michigan and Colorado another one was being brewed between the Wings and the Avs.
Michigan clearly came out with the edge in this three-game rivalry. A close win at UM by Colorado, a close win at CU by the Wolverines and then a blowout win by Michigan at home.
yep! Corso will never forgive Coach Bo and the Meeecheegun team for kicking the crap out of his Loosiers repeatedly. Jealousy will get you nowhere, Lee!
@Tigersfan829 A whole bunch of polls had them all over the top ten. I think a poll in Sports Illustrated had them at #1. The AP had them at #8 and I think the coaches had them at #5.

I'd say "dominating everywhere but the scoreboard", but 27-3 sure looks like a blowout, the highlight video pretty much speaks for itself. I don't know if Colorado had more than 5 first downs all game long. I remember some of those great Colorado teams of the past, it's amazing how far they've fallen since Rick Neuheisel poisoned them a few years ago. This would be a great rivalry to see renewed, though.

That defense was absolutely BRUTAL...

My first game as a student, after living in Boulder, Colorado during my high school years. THIS...will forever be my favorite Meeechigan game.

Thanks. Wolverine Historian

I like when Michigan played Colorado, Florida State & Washington........
glorious beginning was a fitting statement, as usual by Keith Jackson.
1997 Michigan Wolverines. The UNDISPUTED 1997 National Champions.

Stacked O-LINE for the Wolverines!

Thanks for the upload!
the win that got it all started.

I always knew Lee Corso hated Michigan.Guess it goes back to the Anthony Carter catch that won the game in 1979.Shoul've gone for 2 "Coach" Corso.
Not to defend Corso but I think we might been favored going into the game even though we were ranked lower. I can't be sure, though.
3:50 Just look at that relentless swarming speed

pretty sure that the avs were still in quebec when the games were scheduled.
@WolverineHistorian even better, I didn't know they played them back then.

That was probably the main reason. But he was also 0-8 against Michigan. The endless ass kickings probably didn't help.
Even Keith Jackson said "this is michigan". And why is it that some have said colorado was ranked #1 when they were ranked 8th?
Hey WH do you have the 1997 Wisconsin game?
wish they could have kept the shut out
HEY LEE shoud've pick MICHIGAN

I think it was just a well timed coincidence. But still some great games.
@cdzmo1972 4 games. Bo's boys crushed Colorado 31-0 in 1974.

that bootleg play to the TE. was open all year long in 97
LOL @ Lesley getting so fired up after putting up their only points of the game.
Her street looks like a kid here. I think he's about 27 years old.
Michigan ran a TBC defense, Tackle the Ball Carrier defense. the only NFL team that doesn't run it is the Detroit Lions
@ 0:27 ok keith jackson do the honors
apparently Tumane married Griese's sister.
@0BelowSeaLevel9 I think we should go 8-4, maybe better if Devin Gardner is for real & not just hype !!!
Corso curses a team once again, LOL.
